The location is excellent. We liked the potential

The bathroom in our place had mold in the showers and the drain was clogged. Water would not drain and the mold was a problem. When you stay in a hotel or bed and breakfast, you want a place to lay down your head comfortably and sleep and a clean bath room. Those are minimum requirements. I do not know if other rooms were better but we told the owner on several occaisons about our concern. Fortunately one of the members of our party was staying in a hotel in Barra and we were able to find other accommodations satisfactory to our desires. Its a pity because once he finishes renovations and can keep the showers clean and the drain running, I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to any traveler.

I loved that the staff were attentive and proactive to my needs. They also have reception staff with a mix of languages. Ramon was particularly helpful to all. Jaoa too. The property is outstanding if you like going back in time. The rooms are kept clean as is the property itself. The location is in the Historical Centre of Salvador and most convenient for attending the World Cup matches. A casual 20 minute walk. Local cuisine varied and was interesting.

We loved Pousada des Arts. Breakfast was wonderful, the accommodations were eclectic and fun, and the location is fantastic--10 minute walk to Pelourhino. The staff was helpful and friendly.

The owner of the pousada enjoys sailing, and offers his guests a chance to join him on a half day or full day trip. I highly recommend doing this. It has beautiful views and a beautiful beach to break up the sail.

The area of town has cockroaches, which makes it hard to keep them out of the posada. We only saw one in the posada, but it did cause some worry.

This was an exquisite place to stay. Located in the historic section of Salvador. We were treated wonderfully by Joao Paulo at the front desk upon arrival. There is art work in every inch of the Pousada. Our room also was decorated with colorful carpets, paintings and a beautiful big bed with a canopy top. The view from our balcony was breathtaking. The breakfast is a lovely display of breads, cakes, fruits and traditional Bahia food prepared by ladies in traditional Bahia clothing. Eric the proprietor is always around and speaks many languages, including very good English, which was quite helpful. This was the most charming little hotel imaginable, superb location, great staff, great value for your money. You will be very happy if you stay in this Pousada, you will get a true feeling of charming Salvador. The Vieros

We loved the decor. It was very quirky and original. Beautiful rooms.

The location. We booked it because it said it was in the historic centre. It was actually a 10-15 min walk and at night it didn't feel safe. We felt nervous walking home. Also the 'beautiful sea view' that was sold to us on the website was in fact a sea port and traffic!

Hotel has a great atmosphere and staff goes extra mile.

Very unfortunate that noise from large street at bottom of hill, reduces the fun of enjoying the great view on balcony. Is in historic center, but still quite a walk required to get in to center of old part of town

This is a beautiful decorated house with helpful staff and a friendly owner.

Don't go there if you are sensible to mould fungus. The walls of the old building are wet and huge spots of mould spread over the walls (more than 5m² in our room). You can see them even in the pictures provided in the pousada description. We had to leave the place cause I got respiratory distress. After that, we stayed in the same street in another historic house (same price) were walls were perfectly dry and clean.

Love it, love it, love it.  You have to make this your base for Salvador.... Stunning place, really nicely decorated with every detail thought about. Super friendly staff full of lots of tips and hints about the town.  It is the love and attention they put into everything which shines through -  arranged a super friendly collection from the airport, welcomed with a fresh juice, room upgraded,  Great breakfast.thank u for a wonderful stay.

That I had to leave... Loved everything

We loved our stay at the beautiful art filled historic Pousada des Artes. The staff was quite accommodating especially Eric, the proprietor, who was helpful in finding interesting and fun things to do during our stay. A delicious breakfast was served on a terrace which exhibited the beautiful Bay of All Saints. Our room was charming, to say the least, and spotlessly clean. The room had a balcony overlooking the Bay. Beautiful! The Faruqs

This place is a real gem. No one could visit and not appreciate the care and thought that has gone into the design and attention to detail, especially in the bay-facing rooms, with their balconies and spacious, comfortable rooms. This was a genuinely laid-back stay, with all needs catered for and a delicious breakfast freshly-prepared each morning. We spent plenty of time in the pousada (guest house) simply relaxing in the huge lounge downstairs, with its paintings and shelves full of books. Highly recommended!
