Although they say they have Internet, it is extremely slow, and almost impossible to navigate the Internet and open emails. The Pousada offered an evening with local fish on banana leaf, but only on Thursdays, so if you are not there for 7 days, you will miss it. It would have been a great way to socialize with other guests while trying typical local dish and spend the evening at the Pousada, they should alternate days or have it twice a week. The island does offer some good restaurants but very expensive. Roads and acess to beaches are very poor, potholes and lack of stairs for access. Walking on sharp rocks and dirt trails, need good shoes. Very pricey island, lots of fees, and activities aren't cheap.
The Island museum in Vila dos Remedies was excellentand source or information, it dates back to 1500's, one of the few things that was free. The staff at the Pousada was helpful at all times, Juliana the manager was great, Bruno and Denise at the front desk always helpful. Kitchen staff was excellent and provided some awesome breakfast. We enjoyed our breakfast in the Varanda. The Pousada has organic gardens and fruit trees, so the food is fresh and delicious. Overall we would recommend Pousada do Vale to anyone visiting the island and looking for above average accommodation.
