I'm not sure if the person before us was a bit of a mess, but our room had these microscopic ants in one corner. They were more of a nuisance for us, I only saw and killed about ten in two days. They were gone once they figured out we had no food.
Brazil loves the water heaters that directly heat the water coming through the pipe. Makes sense, but ours didn't have the strongest voltage, so showers weren't the hottest.
If your not use to South America the neighborhood seems sketchy. But its completely safe!!! No one will harm you if your being respectful. The town street cleaners never clean the street, but they sweep the dirt one block away.... Go figure... But its a very quiet, safe little street, its just South America.
*Clean, clean, clean:
The hotel was very clean and sanitary. The food prep area, rooms, common areas, and the breakfast room was all kept exceptionally clean! Being a bit of a clean freak myself, I was pleasantly surprised.
The location was great. Depending on your speed, a five to ten minute walk to the beach or town. You are a bit tucked away from the main drag, but its perfect for those who want to be part of the action, but don't want to hear it all.
The breakfast is wonderful. You have an assortment of seasonal fruits, eggs, breads, ham, cheese, coffee and cereal as your core foods. On top of that, they will have an array of local breakfast foods that change daily. They do a great job balancing the sweet foods with the hardy breakfast foods. There's something for everyone and in my opinion it was most definitely restaurant quality.
Staff was very helpful, but they did not speak English. But if you know Spanish you can get by. There is someone on location 24 he's of the day. They lock the main door at night, but there is a night watchman.
Bed was comfortable, and the TV worked! There is a safe box and sheets/ towels cleaned daily!! The AC in the rooms are way above average, absolutely loved their set up and want to buy my own for home.
