One of the most beautiful hotels i have stayed in across the world,
Antique, with all it's pros and cons!
The building, the old furniture and general decor were very nice and the breakfasts were excellent. Location was very central but quiet. Staff very helpful within limitations of their English.I would put many of the categories above in the good-to-excellent range rather than just good. This was the nicest place we stayed in Brazil (all in this price range). Ouro Preto is a very pretty town, and although we missed the really big Easter procession when they decorate the streets, we saw 3 processions over the weekend before Easter, which were quite moving and far more impressive than the one in Paraty the following Thursday. Felt very safe here, even in the less touristy parts of the town. Many wonderful churches and buildings to see and good restaurants.
We were in a garden apartment, which was really very nice (rustic bathroom !) but unfortunately a bit damp.
A beautiful old house centrally situated and good spacious communal rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful
We had an awful room like a shed in the garden it was so damp did not like it at all. Avoid room 9 at all costs
This is an historic property (18th century), right in the middle of the town. It is super convenient, and the atmosphere is lovely, with views over the town and countryside. We enjoyed having the sitting room available to relax in, and tea was always available in the afternoons. Breakfast was ample and varied. This is not a deluxe property, but if you want the Ouro Preto experience, this is perfect. We shared a triple for four nights and were very comfortable. We parked our car in the driveway and never took it out until we left because there was so much to see and do within walking distance. We took the local bus to Mariana one day and heard an organ concert and walked around. Otherwise, we spent all our time in Ouro Preto.
Old building, very good location
- old standards - very basic - 100€ p Night too much
The hotel was antique (250years old) and we feel as if we lived in 18th century. View from the hotel woom was gorgeous.
Central location. Hotel like a museum, very unique. Felt like being at someone's house rather than in a hotel.
A fantastic 18th century house maintaining its original characteristics, beautiful wooden floors. A spacious light library/sitting TV room with a beautiful view
The entrance and fasade was not all that inviting, and on the whole the rooms were dark and rather cold. Bathroom needed some repairs. Only one of the staff spoke english, she was there at the end of our stay and was extremely helpful!
