The Hostel Villa Santana has accommodations with TV. The property is located in the heart of the bustling neighborhood Lapa, famous for its Samba clubs and just over 1 mile from Cinelândia subway...

The location is excellent, the price is very fair.
The bathroom is small, and not cleaned along the day.
The Suite was reasonably equipped for the price, it has a private bathroom which was okay and enough space. The room has good airconditioning. The staff spoke no to barely english, but they tried their best to communicate with me (which is why I put this as a +point, I didnt speak any portugies and you have to be okay with speaking with hands and feet). The Hostel was safe also for woman traveling alone.
I didn't visit rio to Party in lapa, so it was quiet loud at night sometimes, although the Hostel is Not on one of the main streets. The room has no window and the door has "wholes" for air circulation, but is at least not see-through. However with this you can hear everything that happens outside.
It's cheap! Very well located (bus stop, nightlife options and sightseeing spots nearby). The hostel itself being at a historical building is a very cool (and quite new for me). The staff was helpful and the people working at the kitchen are incredibly polite.
Wi-fi service could be improved, I couldn't get a decent signal in my room, had to go downstairs at the lobby to use it. Also it may get too noisy to sleep depending on which room you are (wasn't a problem for me, but I heard people complaining while I was there).
Although our room was overbookt it was a fine hostel with nice and clean rooms and a good breakfast.
The staff does not speaks English but this seams normal at Reo.
Small, crowded rooms. Mattress and pillow covered in plastic sheeting which made it very uncomfortable. Poor shared bathroom facilities for the number of people staying there.
I cancelled my stay at the hotel but the owner did not refund me any money as per policy and even left the hotel kept me waiting and said nothing to me.
The location next to the bars and clubs of Lapa is excellent if you are in rio to have a good time. Staff are lovely and they do speak other languages
Nothing in particular, the breakfast could be improved upon but i gather its the same in other hostels in town
The owner was greedy for money. I cancelled my stay but the owner did not return my money. Moreover the owner left the hotel keep me waiting.
clean, everything ok!
quite expensive for a hostel, but that was probably due to the FIFA world cup
The location, right next to the Lapa strip! Very cheap considering it was during the world cup period. Breakfast wasn't bad :-)
I had the room next to the common area/lobby so was very noisy all through the night and roadworks began outside at 7am so wasn't easy to sleep here (but then again it is Lapa!). Also wasn't easy to find the place at night, no obvious signage.
Location is close to great night life. Staff are helpful and friendly.
The showers are dirty, rooms are small.
Excellent location - there is a street party until the early hours 1 minute away. It's easy & quick to get to Copacabana on the metro, and the taxis back are pretty cheap. Gloria (receptionist / concierge) is wonderful :-)
12-bed dorm is pretty cramped but I guess that's not too surprising. Go for a dorm with less beds.
Free breakfast was nice, staff were mostly very friendly, helpful, and approachable. We stayed here a month and it really started to feel like home. There is a nice outdoor area with a pool table. Kitchen is good. Location is good, right near main roads so you always feel safe walking to and from and the hostel. Right in the lapa district too, so if you're into nightlife you'll like it.
Wi-fi is a bit on and off if there are a lot if people using it. 12 bed dorm room is small, but that's not uncommon in hostels. Can be quite noisy at night, so if you are a light sleeper, that could be difficult.
good atmospheric, good staf and people. center and bars
wery dangerous place all around but Rio not disneyland
Service was good, location was right on spot for night life and close to metro station. Breakfast was good. It is ok if you are on a budget.
Bathrooms could be cleaner. Beds were ok, not that comfy. Wi-Fi was down many times.
Fantastic location for exploring Rio and very friendly staff.
Exellent location! Just a few blocks from some of the best places for night life and some very good restaurants. There are also many sites within walking distance and it is close to the metro. A few of the staff members spoke multiple languages and were very helpful.
Bathrooms were very cramped. A few staff members were not very friendly. Construction was occurring on the corner starting at 7:30 am causing us to wake up and have difficulty sleeping.
Clean, good location and good staff.
Superb location and very helpful staff. They clearly take pride in their hostel and although it is basic you feel well looked after.
Because of the excellent location in the midst of thriving Rio it is very noisy. Don't let this deter you though, just bring earplugs.
