Wonderful location and setting. Definately recommend it as a place to stay
Reception staff speaks English and is very helpfull. You can get from the hotel to Lapa or Centro with bus 6, 7 and 14 (where you can change to busses to anywhere else in town). It is a 5 minute walk from the bus stop to the hotel (uphill). The hotel also has a driver/taxi service. Breakfast is nice and served outside on the terras (where we saw some monkeys). Restaurant Rustico, Paschoal Carlos Magno 121 (close to the busstop) is great. Not related to the hotel review, but if you look for a nice restaurant close by, we could recommend this one.
The view on Rio is just stunning. The staff speaks english well, much appreciated in Brazil. The district of Santa Teresa is the most charming district of Rio
Love the style of the hotel. Very well equipped hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff.
The location is only good for people who are interested in exploring the San Teresa district.
This place is incredible. From the moment you reach the gates, you feel relaxed. Sits on top of a hill in beautiful Santa Teresa. There are so many spots to catch a view of the city just from within the property! I was only there one night, but I wish I could have lounged at the pool and enjoyed the view more. The breakfast is traditional Brazilian (breads, cheeses, fresh juice, fruit, coffee) and the facilities are clean, minimalist and truly beautiful. I arrived by myself and the staff was very kind and immediately helped me arrange taxi service to the airport. Don't be turned off by the reviews that warn you about the location because of the hike up the hill. I originally booked a differnt hostel in Lapa but left that place after 5 minutes and made my way to Sant Martre in a taxi and we had to ask a few people to guide us up there but it was heartwarming to see some community and watch everyone try to help. Don't worry about finding a taxi to leave as the staff at Sant Martre will help you make arrangements. I'm so sad that I discovered Sant Martre at the end of my trip. Looking forward to visiting soon.
Quiet place and staff helpfull Nice to stay Vue on down Town rio Nice streets and houses around
Water from the shower not Warm enough!
My husband and I are both in hospitality, so we can be a little tough but we loved it here. It was the first stop on our honeymoon, we were able to check in early and were upgraded. The staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable about the area. The grounds are beautiful and breakfast is just perfect. It's a short albeit steep walk to/from the restaurants and bars of santa teresa but I'm so glad we opted for the more authentic neighborhood over the tourist traps of Copacabana. If you are needing a ride, ask the desk to call one for you, he is so much less expensive than the taxis and is very reliable and genuinely a sweet man. Stay here!
The rooms are small, but you won't be in there much anyway.
It's like staying at an expensive hotel but paid for a budget accommodation.
Staff Beautiful view Swimmingpool
Breakfast could be better DIfficult location (generally true for Santa Teresa)
Bright, large and clean room
While the city rebuilds the tram system around Santa Theresa the area is one enormous building site - and a complete no-go area for taxis, who won't take you there - and if you can get one to go up the hill they never know where the hotel is. I very much doubt that the project will be finished in time for the Olympics !!
- Located in a calm area of Sta. Teresa, uphill, still close to the busy area. - It's a very beautiful hotel, with an amazing view of Rio: mountains, forest and marinas. Good to relax on the comfy couches at the garden. - Breakfast was simple but good and clean. - Price for the collective dorms are really good (but don't forget to bring a pad lock and a towel with you! ;) ). - Beds were very comfortable and clean.
- Some spots of the place were not clean for a few days: open air sofas, shared bathrooms and swimming pool. - I felt it lacks in the typical brazilian kindness one might expect, when everything 'extra' is charged; rent a towel = R$7,00, you have to buy a pad lock for the lockers (they don't lend or rent it) = R$20,00, coffee? tea? pay! - Lockers are too small for big back packs. - Shared bathrooms miss basic comfort, like hangers, shelves, stools and (why not?) a dryer.
Nice location and near appraziel restaurant which is amazing!! Nice staff and if it had been sunny good facilities but it was pouring down when we stayed here. Felt safe and breakfast was lovely.
Wifi was not good, and the accommodation for one night was completely overpriced. we stayed here the night before our flight home after 4weeks in brazil and it cost £250 for a room and breakfast. The room did not reflect the price at all. Room was clean but basic, small and not curtains just plastic blinds which you closed from the outside? Stayed in much better hotels/ hostels in Santa Teresa and that reflect the cost of the accommodation. Stay at Bossa in Rio if you are looking for similar views.
Very helpful staff and good breakfast with fantastic location.
Wifi no matter how many times we tried just never worked. This was very bad for me as I needed to do business, but luckily I had purchased a Brazilian number which countered the problem.
A good break from the the noise from a busy city. View amazing, nice place to unwind after a busy day sight seeing. Staff excellent and rooms very clean
A nice hostel with great views
There was someone sleeping in my bed when I got back to the room. It was very expensive for a hostel
Went for the world cup. Free breakfast. Every thing is clean. Recommendations: take small lock for locker, towel.
Comfortable hotel for a fair price. It is located in the attractive area of Santa Teresa.
Everything. Clean and tidy. Spacious. Nice area, great views, friendly staff, nice views over rio, comfy beds, felt safe and secure. Best hostel I've stayed in for a long time
Not being able to bring in my own alcohol haha
Great location with views of the city, nice pool
This is a new hotel and hostel on top of the hill in the colonial district of Santa Teresa. It was a nice change from the beach area. The room was modern and comfortable with a great shower. The terrace has fantastic views of Rio. There are some great restaurants 5 minutes walk down the hill.
The Staff were excellent, Santa Teresa is a lovely place to stay. View from Pool terrace. We really enjoyed the 10 minute stroll down the hill to the Gloria metro station each morning but we do both like walking! Taxi's can be reluctant to drive up to Santa Terresa, we found that we had the most success taking the ones that wait at the taxi rank outside the tube exit. If none are waiting there you'll get pretty much a 100% success rate with cabs which are coming down off the hill (from Santa Teresa) rather than hailing the ones off the road coming from Lapa area.
Good location, excellent to stay!
Everything. The best place out of the 5 hotels, a hostel and a spa resort that I stayed at during my 2 weeks in Brazil. I got a free room upgrade (without asking for it) and my room was excellent, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was perfect, overlooking the mountains, city and ocean. The central location for me was perfect too, in the trendy, arty, yet affordable Santa Teresa - which has cheap, easy and frequent buses (around every 5 minutes) down to Gloria station (a 10-15 minute walk), where you can then hop on the metro to most of the popular spots of Rio (public transport in Rio is very cheap). There are also some very nice hip little eateries within a very short walk from the hotel too, for lunch or evening meals. This has the look of a small yet exclusive spa hotel as there's a pool and sauna here and lots of nice places to chill and take in the view, or just read. There's absolutely no pretentiousness here though and that suited me perfectly, as i'm sure it would suit most people traveling around South America looking for somewhere nice to stay. They speak excellent English here and it was very nice to chat to the lovely local girl working here who had been to my hometown of Wigan in England. It was the icing on the cake and ended my 4 weeks in South America. perfectly, so thank you. I wish i'd spent all my time in Rio here, but I guess you have to try
I loved everything, but just a heads up to anybody with walking difficulties. This place wouldn't suit you unless you intend to take taxis to get about, as it is fairly hilly, but most people shouldn't have a problem and it would be a shame to miss out on this place.
Everything!Best hostel I have stayed in.Great, clean comfortable rooms.Nice sheets, ample space in room.Balcony view was the best.Pool area and even a sauna!Breakfast was good and wifi very good. It's a bit of a walk uphill but very worth it.I would give this hostel 15 out of 10.Will definitely be back to stay in their suites.Absolutely beautiful!
incredibly nice and welcoming front desk and staff in general. Fulfilling any wish one could have.
