I've slept in hostels in more than 30 countries but this place is impossible to leave! A 9,1 average is unfair, honestly. Christina and Pedro are just so friendly and amazing. You really do feel you're at home. And the terrace with the view of Rio from Santa Teresa? Incredible! Worth coming just for that. Unreal. And Santa Teresa is SO cool! And safe! So many nice restos and bars with jazz etc just 5-10 min walking distance! Finally, if someone rates this place under 10/10 for cleanliness: you're nuts! Thanks guys! Too bad I now have friends to stay with when I'll come back, but I'll certainly drop by to say 'Yo!'
That it's even cleaner than my own place and I'm a clean freak! :-)
what can i say, simply a wonderful hostel in a mesmerizing city. and i actually miss the owners pedro and christina!
We had a great stay at Santo Mirante. The owners were super friendly and Santa Teresa is a beautiful area of Rio. The hostel has an amazing view from the terrace and the breakfast was great.
Staff super friendly and helpful! Great situation and view. Good wifi + computer/printer at disposal if needed. Rooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily. Great time there! Obrigado Christina and Pedro!
if we really have to find something here: room and bathroom are a little tiny
I liked the location where the hostel was situated you have 360 degree views all day and the weather was beautiful. The location of the room was great, great views from the bedroom window, the setup of the room was good and very comfortable and practical. The owners Christina and Pedro were really nice people and they made me feel like family. Christina and Pedro speak English, Portuguese and Spanish, they were very helpful people, gave lots of information about the city and places to go, and they pointed us in the right direction. The transport is very accessible, close by, to go anywhere in Rio. I would like to thank Christina and Pedro for all their help and friendly hospitality and hopefully I will see them again in 2016 with my family. Regards, Wilber Federico Reyes Australia
Christina and Pedro were incredibly nice and friendly and they made my friend and I feel at home. They were also very helpful giving us advice about where to go and what to do in Rio. I had to phone the UK to solve an urgent matter with my bank and Christina offered me to use her skype phone account which was a life saver and really kind of her. We had a very nice and clean room with an awsome hot shower and the breakfast at the lovely terrace was big and filling. They even took us samba dancing one night and we had a real ball. Santa Teresa neighbourhood is charming and you can walk up from town, we did it a few times and felt safe. I can recommend this place to anyone who is looking for budget accomodation in Rio and wants to stay in a nice place with warm andlovely people.
nice view from the terrace
Definitely no choice for non-smokers, the owner smokes instantly, we got the smoke in the room, the windows are only partly covered with glass. Electricity in the room didn´t work properly, fell off several times, electric shock while showering. Water in the bathroom´s sink was stinking. The hard mattress on the floor caused back pain. After complaining about the smoke the owners became very unfriendly and aggressive. Unappetizing breakfast, water diluded juice, everything incl. fruit salad, longer ago prepared, with condensation water under the plastic. Wifi was very bad. No help with the luggage for climbing up and down three very steep stairs.
We have been to rio twice and Pedro was the best host ever. The hotel has an amazing view. The location is excellent for Santa Teresa I will stay again
Hard to know if it's a place to stay. The outside has no signs or landmarks. Fortunately someone walking by called them for us
The reception at the hostel was simply great! From the beginning of my stay, it felt like I was more a friend than a guest. The hostel is decorated with a lot of taste and offers a splendid view at the bay. Especially nice for relaxing on the terrace during sunset! The rooms are modern and clean, and you are within walking distance of the beach, the center, etc. The stay at the hostel sure helped make my experience of Rio one to remember for a long time!
the staff are amazingly helpful, great city knowledge and recommendations are given. A really warm welcoming hostel in a really good location
Christina and Pedro (owners) are wonderful.
Cristina and Pedro are superb hosts! They give you enough info about everything, they love to chat and they make everyting that they can in order to make you feel confy and have fun
The beds are a bit uncomfortable after a few days. Internet does not work properly sometimes (specially if it is raining)
Superb view! Staff are locals with insider knowledge of the area and can get you a table in the busiest and trendiest restaurants. Really good spot in Santa Teresa and a very pleasant stay! Thanks guys we'll be back.
Incredible host, very welcoming, friendly, with good advice... perfect to enjoy Rio. Good Location.
Noisy fridge. Many stairs but it s a choice.
The staff speak many languages fluently and make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The room with a view of the Sugarloaf Mountain was fantastic, and so were the views from the common areas and terrace. Superb breakfast and awesome location just 2 minutes on foot from the Selarion Steps and 5 minutes from Lapa and the Gloria metro station
The only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't stay any longer! :-)
