The antiques and exoctic flowers all over the hotel are gorgeous. The French windows of the rooms, the internal terrace, the furniture, all take me to almost 200 years back. The restaurante food is excellent. The breakfast is fantastic. There are in and outdoors pools, besides a huge Jacuzzi. Hotel staff is lovely.
Bed, food, pool, service, location, i loved it!
The Solar do Rosario is supposed to be the best hotel in Ouro Preto---and I can believe it! The hotel is a beautifully restored traditional building conveniently located by the Rosario church. The helpful reception staff spoke good English and the restaurant was very good indeed. I had a standard room, which, while comfortable, was a bit compact. It would have been worth paying for a superior room.
Perhaps more kitchen staff could be put on for breakfast. At peak times there was too much for one girl to do.
Nothing much, except that the ground floor reception rooms were somewhere like 5 star level.
The hotel advertises in booking.com as a five star hotel, but it is at best three star. My room was indeed very small, the double bed filled out most of it, and the small bath room was old style, as to be expected, but not very functional. Nowhere else such a hotel room would go as five star. The breakfast was ok and in line with what one expects in Brazil, nothing special, with very slow service. The hotel is located off centre of Ouro Preto, about 10 minutes walk to the centre, my room as many others offered no view, and it was totally overpriced.
Beautifully presented comfortable rooms in a lovely setting. Small but pleasant indoor pool. Delicious breakfast with wonderful choice of different breads & cakes.
Service a bit over-differential and formal. The overall atmosphere is rather hushed and solemn.
The Hotel is very nice, rooms and beds are very confortable. The staff is very helpfull. We really enjoy our stay.
The awesome nighttime watchman. A true badass
Great location. Walking distance from several churches, museums and restaurants. Just across the street from Igreja do Rosário (Rosário Church). Large and comfortable bed. Good quality bed sheets and towels. The hotel restaurant is quite good and reasonably priced (including wines).
Indoor heated pool is not so warm. Actually, it is almost cold. The maintenance is not up to date. I noticed worn out rugs and carpet, broken door knobs, repaired walls with no paint. I checked five different rooms looking for a nice view of Ouro Preto, but they were all views of the roofs and windows of adjacent buildings. Price is something very subjective, but this hotel is really expensive for what it offers. It is not a bad hotel, far from that. I actually recommend it, despite some of its flaws. The free Wi-Fi is not too slow, but they can improve it, especially its stability.
Very pretty and neat hotel in Ouro Preto Center. It has style and well tended.
The gym is a bad joke. A runninig machine and two sets of dummbbells of 3 and 5 kg...
Very noisy rooms.
Close to center of city, easy to access main areas. Also, room is quite spacious and luxury. Restaurant is also very nice taste!
Nice location, close enough to the center but away from the noise. Beautiful old building in excellent condition. Price-wise at the upper limit of the tolerable.
Lovely hotel in a great location, English speaking reception staff which was helpful
Large bed in our room. Restaurant staff was super friendly. Very good shower.
Rooms need to be renewed. There were nail tops sticking out of the floor.
This place is a superb option to stay and I really couldn't fault it. The hotel is a lovely building with very nicely decorated and the restaurant is superb 5 star menu
The rooms are spacious, the location perfect. The hotel ambience is elegant and reminiscent of the colonial past. The grounds are also beautiful. Breakfast was quite nice.
We liked everything. (Don't know how much control the hotel had over wi-fi, but we had to change routers frequently.)
It was brilliant, absolutely no problem, the staff were very attentive, food top-notch, no complaints whatsoever; all in all really good hotel. I was pleasantly surprised of how civilised the Carnaval festivities were; I was expecting a much more Sodoma and Gomorra type atmosphere.
Fantastic hotel, realy loved every moment of our stay. Do not forget to have a dinner in the restaurant! Fantastic steaks!!!!!!!
Good location. Attentive staff. Candle lit restaurant. Beautiful views.
Empty restaurant at night
The hotel's location and lobby are pleasant
Some of the roomsare tiny (we changed rooms) . WiFi does not work in all rooms. When we arrived at 3pm our room was not ready and we were offered the option of paying for a room upgrade or wait half hour until our room had been cleaned.
Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. Really the kind of hotel you want to stay.
They had some problems with the amount of towels, no towels at the pool and very late in the room.
Location is nice, but not that central. We were there years ago, and it seemed better-run. The hotel is quite pretty, and they have good bedding.
Some of the staff are brilliant, some could use more training. We were given a tiny room unworthy of a 2-star hotel at first. It smelled of mold, and we were promised a change the next morning, as they were full. The next day, we had to track down the person who had promised the change, as his colleague was not willing to provide one. Were finally changed to a larger room, but the shower would flood if left on for more than one minute at a time, which made for a very uncomfortable time, especially as there is no heating, and it was cold out. Our last night, the shower flooded despite all the care we took, and we needed to use all the towels to keep from flooding the room as well. The towels were not replaced AT ALL. several of us became ill after eating at the restaurant.
1. Stark inability of staff to communicate with me in English! 2. It was truly difficult to explain the simplest idea to the staff ... to the extent that I could not get the procedure to call another city from my room. 3. There was no room-service booklet that explains the hotel facilities. I suggest that the staff hired should be able to communicate in English ... not only in Purtoguise. Thank you. Dr. Saeid A.
