Location was great Hotel staff were pretty unhelpful. The breakfast was awful, ried out and sour milk! The 'suite' we booked was extremely basic. It was a suite in the fact that it had a living area and a bedroom but the likeness to a traditional suite ended there.

The room was in a good state of maintenance. Location is good for those that want to spend time in Copacabana as well as for those interested more in Ipanema (5 minutes walking from the gay beach). Staff wasn't fully honest. Upon arrival, the bell-boy brought us to the room. It was a twin room, although we had booked a double room. When I made a comment on this, the bell-boy said that all the double rooms were occupied, but the single beds can be connected to form a big bed. I then went to the reception, where the receptionist said that the hotel had no double rooms (rooms with double beds), and that when a client wants a double room, the two twin beds are connected. I found it hard to believe that the hotel had no rooms with double beds. When a house keeping employee came to connect the beds, my Portuguese speaking partner asked whether there were rooms with a double bed. The employee confirmed. While the solution (connecting the two beds) was OK, the question is why the receptionist lied, saying that there were no double rooms in the hotel? Why not be honest?

Very good location...Perfect for New Years when it is all happening in Copacabana Beach 3 blocks away. Good staff, nice people. Very secure. Good food in the hotel dinning room, great Brazilian breakfast. And the best hot strong coffee!

The room was really nice. I loved that all the desk front people spoke in English or Spanish. The service was good. It is close to Copacabana and Ipanema. Everything was good. I think the sauna is small and too hide. The swimming pool is a little small too.

I liked the location and it seemed to be the cheapest hotel I could find in the area when I was booking. Although it was the cheapest hotel in the area it was still far too expensive and although it purported to be a four star hotel it was more like a two or three star

We loved the location, the size of the room and the beds were comfortable . The breakfast and staff were great. However we did think the price was high as it is not a luxury hotel with many amenities, more like a small boutique hotel. The pool was really small and the treadmill was broken with no plan to fix it. I was disappointed as I booked the hotel thinking there is a gym.

We found the location super convenient (2 min walk form Copacabana beach, 5 minute walk to Ipanema beach, subway station just around the corner, bus runs right in front of the hotel, etc) and we felt safe walking around the hotel even at 2 or 3am in the morning. The breakfast had great selection and is generous (though we would have preferred to be given the option to skip breakfast and receive a lower rate, as we stayed out very late in most evenings and would rather sleep in…). All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful, and the front desk staff all spoke pretty good English. The price for the quality was pretty outrageous, though I guess not too out of line in Rio de Janeiro. The rooms (we stayed in two different ones) were pretty depressing - dated, dark and gloomy, though spacious and clean. The furniture and the décor were unimpressive and out-of-date. Bathroom was clean but did not have proper racks to hang towels, and the shower room was poorly designed so we always ended up with a mini-flood after showering. Flushing of toilet took a bit of persistence but otherwise okay. The wifi in our room was week and finicky. Lighting seems to be a major issue in the hotel. The lights in the hallway were turned on by motion sensors, except they were always a few seconds delayed so it was always dark in the hallway. The poor lighting makes the already out-of-date décor look simply depressing.

The breakfast is good. The furniture of the room is old. 70% of the attendants are always in a bad mood. The corridor smells of mildew. My wife is allergic to dust mites, then we find that the problem was in the small curtains. If you need anything, like a voltage transformer, ask first for the cleaning staff if they have, because the attendants will say that they don´t have, as it happened.

Location is good but not directly at the beach. Good walking distance to ipanema and copa. Good city bus connections near the hotel. Nice small roof pool. Heavy sewer smell from pumping station directly next to the hotel!!!

Very friendly and helpfull English speaking staff, excellent location close to both Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, very good breakfast buffet. Excellent price/quality ratio, would book again without hesitation for short stays. Room / hotel furnishings a little out-dated but comfortable enough, some airco problems and bathrooms a little too small.

This was our favourite hotel during a month in South America. Two blocks to Copacabana beach and three to Ipanema shopping. Beautiful spacious room and big bathroom with plenty of places to put things. Breakfast wide range and good quality. Did not have great deal to do with staff but when we did they were helpful and efficient. Great view of Rio from the roof. We would definitely stay there again. i did not matter to us but the rooftop pool is nice but quite small, more a quick dip pool than a laze by it all day one.

Location was good. Tired hotel in need of refurbishment. Dark corridors (energy saving light bulbs that worked on motion detectors) made for a creepy experience.

Free wi-fi is satisfactory for websurfing and email checking but not for business users. Bed is moderately comfortable, however pillos are bushleague razor-thin. Need about 8 of them to equal 2 real pillows. The front desk guy was all business checking me in-didn't say enjoy my stay or anything, pretty rude.
