The hotel is 550 yards from Santos Dumont Airport and USA General Consulate. Centrally in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, it’s within walking distance of Glória subway station and Municipal Theater.

Ideally located in Rio de Janeiro city centre, Gamboa Rio Hotel offers air-conditioned rooms and a restaurant.
Score from 148 reviews Good
It's a hotel, a very simple one without a restaurant. There was an elevator.
The neigbourhood seemed dangerous. When it was dark outside we always had to take a taxi from the metro to the hotel to feel safe. Price was insane due to the football World Cup. Staff spoke only Portuguese.
Great staff 24/7, perfect location and price
There was only employe that cared for the convenience of the guests.
Nobody spoke English. Internet was not available in the room as offered. Rooms were so tiny that we had no space for luggage. Dirty towels. In 8 days there was no room service at all. Not even when we asked for new towels and toilet paper. It was the worst hotelexperiance in my hole life and a stayed in a lot of hotels all over the world.
we booked it the 29th of December (extremely high season) for the same day and it was the cheapest in Rio
the air condition is really noisy and you cannot sleep with it. windows very small, no net for mosquitoes. The district is not very safe, and sometimes even the taxis refuse to pick us up and drive us there.
