The wifi was practically unusable in my room. Now, this wasn't entirely a negative, as it made me sit outside to use the internet (and what's the point of being in Belize if you aren't outside as often as possible!). But there were a couple times I needed to check on logistics (travel info sorts of things) and it would have been better if I could have quickly done that in my room rather than have to go down to the main pool area. The only other negative aspect of this hotel is its location, which is also a big positive, depending on your point of view. It's about a 15 minute walk on the beach from Caribbean Villas to the main part of the San Pedro, where the water taxi piers are. The positive side to this is that Caribbean Villas is in a quiet area, and the hotel patrons have pretty much free run of the beach front right there. There's a restaurant and bar included, so there's no need to go anywhere else. But if you are more interested in hanging out in town, then the walk back and forth is not ideal. People do walk along the beach at night, but not that many people. It seemed like those who were at hotels this far south of town tended to just stay at their hotels in the evenings and not go out elsewhere. So if a quieter, more contained vacation appeals to you, then without hesitation I recommend this place! If you are more interested in being in town and exploring, especially at night, then I would recommend looking more closely at places in the heart of town.
The property is gorgeous and an amazing place to hang out all day! The staff was incredible- kind, helpful, and competent. I didn't end up having time to book a tour through them but I gladly would have. It would have been really convenient, and if I visit again, I would plan on doing that instead of finding my own tours.
