The cabana we stayed in was very cute and cozy. Lots of beautiful plants and well maintained gardens amongst all the cabanas, cottage, etc.
Difficult to read outside at night because cabana lights not that bright and always loud music playing around the pool. Furthermore, none of the guests ever seemed to be hanging around the pool which we believe is because of a) the loud music, and b) the group of the bartender's friends always hanging out around the bar in the evening playing video games. This sort of ruined the atmosphere and appeal of the pool as a place to relax in the evening and so we never did.
Staff was engaging and accommodating. The facilities were clean and inviting.
No elevator for wheel chair. Although it was good exercise for me to walk the stairs!
Close to town but yet you are in a jungle setting. Great food and wonderful service. Lisa one of the waitresses made it a point to remember and great us by our names everyday. Great pool Easy to book tours at the hotel, get picked up and charged to your room.
Good location in easy walking distance of town. Great staff team very friendly and helpful. Easy to book trips through hotel, we went to Tikal, which was excellent. Good sized pool and pool bar.
Choice in restaurant was very limited whilst we were staying
Nice clean rooms. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Close to downtown Cayo.
Dirt road in front if Midas is rough.
Overall we highly recommend this place if you are looking for a rustic simple lodging. If you are looking for a luxury hotel this is not the place (you should go to K'ana and pay 3-4 times the price). The name "Resort" is a bit misleading, So there is a difference between the cabana rooms or the deluxe rooms and we tried them both. In fact we stayed in cabana #8, cabana #17, cabana #14, and deluxe #20. HIGHLIGHT of the place are THE STAFF who are out of this world friendly, helpful, and nice. They will go out of their way to make sure you are happy and taken care of. Genuinely couldn't have asked for better service. We asked to move out of a room bc we didn't like the bed, they were super understanding and moved us immediately. Bathroom - really depends on the unit, #8 was remodeled so the bathroom was super nice! Felt like the bedroom and bathroom were completely different hotels. The pressure decent, could get pretty warm to hot water at a decent pressure. All the other units varied in size and such but didn't ever have issues with the bathroom. The cabana rooms are pretty basic but has a good AC that will cool it down immediately. Unless the cabana is one that is sitting in the sun (try to avoid #14). And cabana #8 has an old bed that was not so comfortable but we asked to move and they did so immediately. All the other beds we found were fine. The cabanas were a bit more rustic - and yes you will find ants and bugs here and there in the rooms but I'm not sure why you are in San Ignacio if you are looking for a Hilton hotel. The deluxe rooms did feel a bit more modern and newer, so if you are looking for slightly nicer accommodations, try a deluxe room for an extra $30 USD. The restaurant - the food is decent, nothing to rave about, but when you are hungry and don't feel like trekking into town, it's perfect since the kitchen is open pretty late. Prices are about what you'll find in town, but for mediocre food.
We had a deluxe suite, which was very cozy and spacious. Nice pool bar and restaurant as well.
The bathroom was very nice.
The location. It didn't seem like a very safe, secure area. We didn't seem to have gotten the room we had reserved.
Location was good to walk into town. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful
Not enough water pressure to take a warm shower, no blow dryers for your hair.
pretty grounds...good food for the price and convenient restaurant. friendly staff..fairly close to town
pool was dirty. last nite, ac seemed to need more freon but when told staff, seemed like they would take care of it...the door to our room and casing needed to be caulked...we had a very cute and friendly geeko in our room.
Very friendly and helpful staff
beautiful gardens. great day trip location, fantastic access to local market. Staff and owner are really great people.
having a coffee maker but having to buy coffee packs. having to ask for enough cups or glasses, and having to ask for clean ones the next day. also the kitchen does not open till 7AM.
Lovely staff, very nice food, superb pool
A unique experience staying at the Midas. The cabanas were very nice. The grounds are full of wonderful plants and flowers and each morning the array of birds was often stunning (including Toucans!!). Breakfast was served early enough that you didn't need to delay a day trip in order to eat first. I particularly enjoyed the Belizian breakfast with the Fry Jacks. Booked a day trip to Tikal, Guatemala and the staff at Midas took care of everything including border exit fees, park entrance fees, transportation and a VERY knowledgable guide. Drinks were good and affordable at the 'Ice Bar' and Wi-Fi was good too. There was no dinner served while I was there but you could order from several nearby restaurants and they would deliver very quickly. My room was big and clean and the bathroom was well equipped. All in all it was a very enjoyable stay. Loved the jungle atmosphere!!!
The road outside the front gate was in very bad condition.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The resort was small and comfortable --the rooms and outdoor area seem like they've been recently renovated.
Although somewhat close to a very nice town, the location was somewhat secluded and peaceful.
Great hotel, 5 minute walk to town. Book tours directly with them, they were at least $10 cheaper than the agencies in town. Very friendly staff A++ service. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
The setting, pool area and rooms were great, staff were very friendly too.
The food served was poor and the dining area lacked any charm. The showers in our cabins could use updating and there wasn't always hot water.
The staff was helpful, friendly and personable. We loved spending the evening talking to our favorite bartender Brenda. The pool and patio are are perfect!
There is nothing that I did not like. We cannot wait to return.
Location for walking to town was good. The staff was attentive and friendly, especially Brenda in the bar. The grounds are nice and in the jungle next to the river, birds everywhere. The pool area is nice.
My bungalow was musty smelling. The biting bugs were very bad. Power and water went out for a while one evening, but was working again in a reasonable amount of time.
