The Red Hut Inn

The owner is very friendly and made us feel welcome. He was always ready to help. The hotel is a bit far from the centre but I didn't feel it was a problem (short taxi ride away costing BZD 15). It also meant that it was quiet. Th aircon was splendid and very much a relief. Breakfasts were nice and the hot shower worked perfectly.

Our room was fairly cheaply decorated and with too much furniture. The main thing I would object to is very cheap nylon bed sheets and pillow cases as it makes sleeping in hot climates rather unpleasant. So all in all, it's a good budget place to stop at whilst in Belize city. That's if you don't mind the new on-site helper, who is very opinionated and will go into endless lecturing monologues about her political views and all the cars she's owned, with detailed specifications. I had to go back to my room a few times for some respite.

Julia and Lewis were incredibly welcoming. They picked us up at the airport and were gracious and helpful during our week-long stay. (We used The Red Hut Inn as our base as we explored Belize.) They helped us figure out how to get where we wanted to go and had great suggestions for placed to see. Our room was clean and large and the air-conditioning was welcome at the end of hot days outside. Lewis makes delicious breakfasts and dinners, as well!

A budget style hotel with comfortable accomodations and a friendly staff. A great value for the investment!

A bit off the beaten path.

They do treat you like family. Louis is a great chef and will cook you breakfast on request. They also rent cars. Had an excellent time.

The hosts were fabulous! The food was great. The room was small but very clean and comfortable. I am grateful this was my first stop in Belize.

Just a one night stay before connecting to our flight. Clean, Comfortable beds, Good water pressure, and Air conditioning, neighborhood location.

A lot of dogs barking in neighborhood, no one seemed to care to quite them, so one starts and the rest follow. Didn't go to city.

It was a clean comfortable and very homely feeling place. Cold beers, juice abs water that could be accessed anytime. Lewis will create a delicious home made meal at your request dinner and breakfast was delicious! They try very hard to make your stay very enjoyable. I met some great people on the big open patio during afternoon beers and dinner. They organise a ride up town or will take you to the airport themselves for a small fee. I enjoyed my stay very much thank you :)

Seemed to be a lot of Mosquitos in the room. The wifi also wouldn't connect properly in the room but worked perfectly on the patio.

Good & economical facility. Lewis is a very good chef. Both Lewis & his wife were very helpful and wonderful to be around. Trisha was very good at arranging tours and driving us to them. Overall a great experience.

Would have been nice if the rooms had two beds.

Overnight stay on my way to Punta Gorda. The host was great! Made me a delicious dinner. Nice quiet neighborhood.

Lewis & Julia are wonderful people and run a great B&B. They were very helpful with all our plans and made us feel very welcome. Plus Lewis is an excellent cook! We look forward to returning one day.

All the road construction made it a bit difficult to get around.

Friendly owners plus trying hard to please

The food was amazing! Better than the best restaurant in town, which we had been to. The company was good, and the common area for eating and relaxing is comfortable and fun. Discussing plans and what we did with other guests is great. Hosts are helpful and trusting and nice.

The Inn Keepers Jewel & Lewis were amazing! They helped me in a variety of ways . . . to just giving me info . . . to eating well and taking me to my next hotel locations I had a wonderful time at the Red Hut Inn! Great on the Budget!

There wasn't anything that I didn't like.

We loved the deck where guests can gather and relax and meet other guests. The owners of this hotel were very accommodating and friendly.

Very friendly owners/hosts made us welcome and comfortable. They went out of their way to solve any problems--they can provide guides, transportation, and even found us a place to stay Christmas night when everything was booked.

Difficult to find. No street signs. We stopped and asked three times before we found it. No sign in front--just look for the address numbers. It was worth it when we finally got there, though.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They made us feel right at home and cooked us some delicious food.

The hotel is located in a residential neighborhood and was a bit tricky to find as there was no signage to direct us, but we managed to find it by asking some neighbors where it was

Price is too high. The room has all necessary items but when put altogether just looks a bit poorly.

Owners and staff were super friendly and provided for our every need. Mapeals were excellent, prepared by the owner.

Service was friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. Neighbourhood was safe and quiet.

Location was a little removed from town however a bus stop was nearby with regular buses running into town.

Absolutely, the staff made this location great, but truly, their actual location mades it one of the safest palces you can stay in Belize City. The City is not a nice town and should not be on your list for tourist attractions in Belize... but if you need to stay a night there before moving on to the villages, San Ignacio, Placencia, or the Cayes, The Red Hut Inn is a lovely stop with clean rooms and extremely personable staff.

There is a saying " there is no place like home", well this hotel certainly made me feel like I was at home in Belize. Very close the bus routes into the city. You have the option of asking the host family to prepare a breakfast each morning or taking a day trip into the city to eat at a nice cafe.

Considering I didn't know much about Belize City until recently, I would have preferred to stay in a beach town.

Julia and Lewis were wonderful and so knowledgable about the area. Trisha was great as a tour guide to Altun Ha and Burrell Boom to see the Baboons. She has definitely done her homework on the ruins which greatly enhanced our experience in the area. Lewis makes the most amazing meals, gourmet taste and presentation. Overall I really enjoyed our 2 nights at the Red Hut Inn!

It's not that easy to find a reasonably-priced place to stay in Belize City. The Red Hut Inn richly deserves its reputation as being an affordable spotlessly-clean guest house run by two of the most sincere and accomodating hosts who really take hospitality (and gourmet cooking) to another level. Hugely comfortable stay - I'd go back in a heartbeat . . .
