This was the second time we stopped here this year and we found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. When we mentioned that we were just there in May, the clerk just upgraded us to a King Suite for the same price as a Standard. A very pleasant surprise. Room was immaculate and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was sufficient and the atmosphere was very nice. The GLO resturant nearby serve decent food. Will definitely stay there again when we are passing through.
My wife and I spent a weekend here so we stayed at the Howard Johnson again. This hotel is clean, quiet and relaxing for us, and we will stay again soon. The building admittedly is showing it's age, but the staff is doing their best to keep it in the best condition for customers.
Staff were helpful and friendly
The room was visibly dirty - the washroom had not been cleaned properly, Checking under the beds upon leaving - found layers of fluff and dirt. Bed sheets had holes in them.
Had a excellent time at the onsite pub. Excellent staff
The property is on a hill with dificulty to access the busy street from parking lot & driveway
The king bed my girl.friend live in vic u get my drift
Room had a coffee maker. There was an indoor pool.
It's not a hotel, it's a motel. The second floor where my room was, is at ground level. The gym room has no weights at all, 4 cardio machines, 1 out of order. The rooms are old and outdated, and poorly maintained. My room had a doorknob not fully attached to the door of the bathroom. The doorknob just hung in place out of it's socket. Speaking of sockets, a shortage of them in room, and several did not work. The wifi is difficult to login too and it requires new login every time you use it. Very annoying and time consuming. The staff will argue about that if you ask them, because I suppose they probably have already heard a thousand complaints about it. Staff at the front desk were friendly enough most of the time. The one lady who checked me in though, was horrible. She is this tiny smoking troll that likes to stand right at the entrance of the place smoking away. So it's a $250 charge if you smoke in their rooms, but you're going to have to inhale smoke to get into the front lobby if their little troll is working that when you get there. Whole place is made to look nice online, but believe me when I say there are lots of nicer places in Victoria. I stayed in 2 hotels on this same trip because my stay was extended so I moved from Strathcona. That place is beautiful, and going to this horrid little dive after was very disappointing. Simply put HOJO does some good marketing but it's a fraud. This is not a hotel, it's a motel. It does not have a gym, it has an exercise bike and a treadmill.
Large room Comfortable bed Proximity to Galloping Goose Trail Pool Reasonable price Attentive staff
Saunas were separate for men and women and located in their respective washrooms -- what a drag! My hubby and I did not like being separated.
Conveniently located to where I was visiting. Safe and friendly area of the city.
The rooms could be cleaner, carpets needed cleaning, room smelt like tobacco smoke, hotel is a non smoking hotel. I went to use the coffee maker in the room and the water reservoir was dirty and the one cup that was there was used, it clearly had coffee stains on it. At check out time my bill was approximately $75.00 more than my online booking quote and they would not honor the booking .com price.
Very clean, good location
Trail & bus stop to the city next to the hotel, big room, good and stable wifi, bed was quite comfortable.
Room getting extremely hot in spite we had air conditioning working at max. Old restrooms renovated poorly and sloppy. Bed frame under the blanket full of dust.
Internet and the window opened
we stayed here August.and this is our second.stay. Absolutely loved it, great location , great suite! we got a free upgrade since they were overbooked : ) The staff.are.wonderful and make us feel like family. We will definitelt recommand this.hotel to our friend !
Access from parking to room. Booked 3 rooms via booking.com but only 2 was in hotel's system. I showed my booking in my confirmation papers. Reception gave me a suite with price of regular room. Which was bigger and came with kitchen.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good value for the price. Location is close to town.
Beds were pretty hard, but for the price, can't complain much. Room was clean, but a tad bit dated. Again, for the price, was exactly as expected.
Location was excellent Room was clean and spacious Food at restaurant was good. Great size bathtud Staff was kind and helpful Loved the Galloping Goose trail across the street. Booking.com price was good.
Some evenings were noisy Patio on restaurant would be nice. It was dark in bar/restaurant Bed was kind of hard
clean and quiet
Old and smelly bed covers, we could hear the couple in the room next door engaging intensely screaming and pounding head boards....
Staff was ok but helpless with regards to being able to deal with the facility cleanliness and booking issues
stagnant water in the ice bucket hair in the ice bucket hair in bathroom staff refused to deal with my concerns because I booked the room online. end of the day... dirt is dirt -booked online or not.
Pool and sauna were decent and great for weary traveler reset and refresh.
I just don't care for, old, too used, and feeling like I should check the bed. .
The frontine staff were very helpful and informative.
It was bit out of the Victoria downtown.
There were a plethora of drunks staggering around the front of the lobby. One fell and smashed his head, resulting in my wife and I administering firstaid and calling the ambulance. Once the ambulance came we went inside to check in, my wife went to wash her hands where another hotel guest was doing cocaine off the countertop. The woman at the front desk was surly and ill informed.
Bathroom smelled like urine. Loud air-conditioning unit. The newest thing in the room was probably the shower curtain. Dark and gloomy. Be careful of the water temperature when you are showering, I got scalded and iced every time. Our room did not get cleaned until 5:30pm one day, and the next day, towels weren't changed until we called the front desk. Hair dryer stopped every 5 seconds due to overheating. Be careful not to damage your front bumper when you leave due to the steep hill. Scrapped mine a few times getting out to the main road.
nice and clean budget hotel. good customer service
Location to the city was very good
We where given sets of key cards only one worked . Airconditioner was very noisy
