-Location was excellent, one block away from all the sites, and also a block away from the metro to get to sites which are further away. -Hotel was incredibly clean. I had reservations about having to share a bathroom, but this really was not an issue. There was never a point where I had to wait to use the bathroom and considering they were communal, they were incredibly clean.
-I had a room right by the street. There are several night clubs in the area so at night it was very loud. However, I had ear plugs so this was not really an issue. -The bed was quite hard, but as my stay was not too long, this was not a big deal. -I think they hotel could be improved if there was more of a common area. As a solo traveler, this may have aided in meeting more people. They do have a breakfast area which would be an ideal common area, but it was only open during the breakfast time. I also had work to do while there, it would have been nice to have a table like those in the breakfast area to set up my computer on.
This is a hotel for the adventurous, not the pampered. We took a third floor room with a shared bath. It is very like hotels in Italy and Spain, small, comfortable but not fancy rooms, shared showers and toilets, and a lot of stairs to climb. The whole hotel, including shared spaces, is very clean and fresh. Our room overlooked the corner of two busy streets, the one in front of the hotel had only recently reopened after being closed for most of the summer for festivals. A lot of folks thought festivals were still in full swing, so it wasn’t quiet, but we are used to that, and slept fine. If you are a light sleeper, get a back room instead. The location is great, you can walk most anywhere, old Montreal, the Mont Royale Park, museums, shopping, etc. The restaurant strip is just a few blocks away, with many wonderful places to eat. We had different cuisines every night, all of them good. The staff was great, had a lot of good suggestions about food, entertainment, what to see, etc. And don’t worry that the only language is French, everybody speaks great English, better than me. Must be great to speak two languages so well. I recommend the Abri highly, and will stay there when I go back to Montreal.
Be advised, it is not easy to get to this hotel, even after you locate it on a map. This is center city Montreal, there are a lot of one way streets and traffic is horrific most of the day. We finally parked the car and walked to get there. There is no on-site parking, but there is a municipal parking garage a block or so away that you can park in for $20 per day.
high celling , cleanliness and location are good.
Great location, clean interesting decor, perfect breakfast, loved the pre filled jars with cereal and yogurt, nice big room.
Stairs up to reception, bit noisy, but that is what you expect in town centre.
Everything about where the hotel was located was excellent, close to major attractions and transport. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Visiting Old Montreal was extremely easy from this location. It's also near everything! I also enjoyed the charm/flavour of the "boutique" part of the hotel. The staff were excellent and the breakfast in the morning was pretty good. Staying for two nights is a bit of an adventure but staying for longer is not my recommendation for those that prefer more modern amenities.
I had a mouse in my room but this could happen anywhere. The bed was clean but it wasn't the most comfortable.
This is a very nice hotel. Clean and updated. It is in the middle of the theater district and most key attractions are walkable from the hotel.
I rarely find a hotel without an elevator. It was hard to carry our suitcases up several flights of stairs to our room. Guests need to be in good physical shape.
This was our second stay at Abri Du Voyageur. The staff is very friendly and the facilities are very well kept. Our room was bigger this year for the same price, that was a nice surprise! It's very close to the music venue that we attend and there is food and shopping all around. We plan on staying again!
Wonderful people . Very helpful , I full recommended I ❤️The breakfast . Thank you very much .,!!!!
location, staff and facilities
The hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff was very accommodating.
For anyone traveling with children this might not have been the best area, but for anyone else it's perfect.
People working here are very kind and available
toilets in common...there were just2 bathrooms each floor. I went there in Ocyober so the hotel wasn'tso full. Rooms are small and near the street, so very noisy
the staff were friendly , the location was great, it was clean.
the bathrooms were shared and it had bedbugs
Great hotel for the cost with a perfect location. Carole at the front desk is incredibly nice and helpful. I have stayed here a few times and will continue to every time I come to town.
Very clean room with excellent WF. Pleasant staff (they recommended some very good restaurants) and a great breakfast.
Bed mattress wasn't very comfortable and they need thicker curtains.
a good location, friendly staff and great value....
street noise all three nights of our stay and the last night we barely got 3/4 hours of sleep.....
very friendly staff, very unique hotel, great atmosphere, great location, good value for money
you can't open the windows, not enough ventilation in the room, so it felt a bit stuffy at times
Clean and comfortable
- The one or two blocks surrounding the hotel felt a little unsafe but was still close to all we needed. - Windows were not very sound proof and the traffic noise and loud people on the street woke us several times.
The location is great if you want to spend your time downtown. It's a block from the 747 airport bus, and half a block from the metro. The staff were excellent. We went there three years ago, and the front desk man recognized us when we came back - stellar! Comfy, spacious room.
The internet was slow. The shower stall in the shared bathrooms are quite small, but at least they were clean.
EVERYTHING location location location!!!
Great Breakfast in the Morning! Best breads I've ever tasted.
The location and employees are great. The room although small is clean and practical. The mattress is firm which allowed me to have a very good night sleep.....all that at a very reasonable price (which includes breakfast).
Friendly competent staff Excellent breakfast facilities
Porno parlour next store sets the tone for the immediate area.
Noisy people in room next to us the first night. Second night was great.
Clean, great continental breakfast , nice on the inside and short walk to convention centre
The block around this hotel has strip clubs, sex shops, and lots of activity on street all night long. Hotel shares building with sex shop. Not great for a family or person looking for a quieter spot. But once you get inside it is pretty nice.
