Location is not bad; cheap; quiet
staff; facilities; no elevators;
Everything about the place, especially the staff!
the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. The reception area and rooms were clean and welcoming. I was a bit hesitant about the "shared" bathrooms, but that turned out good as well : ample number, clean and private.
There is no elevator and the staircase is very narrow.
The location was great, the staff was friendly, and the accommodations were good. I'd say the hotel is at the top end of the 2-star category, and I would definitely recommend it to other travelers.
Clean, staff is super, good price, good location, great rustic refurbished look
the carpet in the hallway looks pretty shabby ;-)
The big room and the location
The noise outside
The location is excellent! The staff was super friendly and exceptionally helpful. The Continental breakfast was great and I enjoyed the modern decor of the breakfast room. The hotel is very clean, quiet, and I felt totally safe.
The dodgy part of part of the city starts just doors away. Don't go west on St. Catherine's! Lots of steps to contend with if you have heavy baggage.
Location was convenient to everything. Room was clean and reasonably quiet. Staff was very helpful. Great value.
Stairs to reception could be a little challenging for some people and there is no elevator. The staff are able to help with luggage up the steps.
The location was very convenient for tourism and transport. The bathrooms were clean numerous and spacious. Our room was small but functional. Breakfast was very good. Montreal is somewhat eclectic and this location embodies that vibrancy.
The local shops might be an issue for those who are concerned with such things. There are quite a few stairs and no lift so you might wish to consider your ability to carry your luggage if you stay here. The mattress was on the thin side.
The employees really make you feel at home, and are eager to answer any questions, especially at reception and at breakfast. The breakfast was included and was lovely. The room was clean and basically furnished.
a bit of a musty smell in our bathroom
We loved the location... right on Ste. Catherine and walking distance to everything. The staff was very friendly and although we had to share bathrooms with the whole floor, they were clean bathrooms. We liked that there was AC in the room.
I didn`t like that there was no soap in the bathrooms to wash your hands. If I`d known I`d have brought my own. It felt gross touching the doorknobs after. The room was also TINY for two people.
location Price Friendly and helpful staff Charm Very clean, especially shared bathroom
No parking onsite but there is an unloading spot and staff directed us to indoor parking nearby at thecost of $20
-spacious room -TV in room -corner location, made it easy to find -Supermarket/Grocery store VERY close by -English speaking
-Sidewalk/Footpath very bumpy for wheeling luggage along. -Street facing room can get noisey. -LIft door closes in 5 sec. -Next to sex shop
downtown location, very nice and helpful staff, free access to computer and printer, quiet, comfortable, clean, cute
sex shop and peepshow nearby, many homeless people outside begging, no elevator, carpet in the hallway needs a bit of help
The staff who was in the reception in the afternoon was very very rude all the days, and we can't understand why?!? I think the Booking's rate is based just in the appartments and not in the room with shared toilet. We have stayed in both and the standard of quality is very very different
Location was superb, comedy festival was on whilst we were there, and we were right in the thick of it. Staff super friendly and help you out with great ideas.
The bed was a little small and on a slant. But room was a good size. Air conditioning unit was quite loud also.
Extremely friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Beautifully refurbished older building - the exposed wall brickwork was so nice. Very clean and bright. Great air-conditioning. Good TV & TV service. Big clean bathrooms. Plenty of storage space. Really close to the subway. Located on a main thoroughfare close to lots of restaurants, stores and tourist activities. Within easy walking distance of Old Montreal.
There are no elevators which isn't a big deal in the short-term, but as we were on the 3rd floor and there for 10 days, we found the stair-climbing a bit much after a while. Also, it would have been nice to have a little fridge in the room.
It was a pleasant surprise to find that the Rue Ste Catherine was mostly a walking street in summer. The "Just for Laughs" festival was just up the street as were enough restaurants to meet any needs. Hotel had the charm of being very old but with everything in great condition. Served us well for our stay.
1) The hotel is located within walking distance of just about EVERY major attraction in Montreal, in a very vibrant pedestrian zone. (The only attractions we didn't feel like walking were the Olympic Village and Mont Royal Park) 2) The staff is amazing. We had a hit-and-run incident in a public parking lot. The staff gave us instructions for how to notify police and how to begin the process of fixing the situation. 3) There is no breakfast at the hotel, but the vouchers they provide are quite sufficient for a nice café breakfast at a neighboring place--very tasty and fun! 4) The prices are fantastic! I never thought we could afford such a fantastic location on our teachers' budget, but it was well within our range. Great value!
1) Our room was in a corner of the upper floor, so the wifi was spotty. It worked well on one side of the room, but in the bed the signal would fade out. Not a deal-breaker by any means, though. I'm sure the non-corner rooms would have no such issue. 2) For the cheapest rooms, there are communal bathrooms (they are perfectly private once you're in it of course, but you might have to wait your turn during peak "getting ready" hours). We didn't mind it at all, and it added a "college" feel, but some people might not like it. Again, I believe this only applies for the least expensive rooms.
It was in a good location: entertainment section. Also, had to leave a day earlier and faculty was very accommodating.
Next to sex shop and good amount of homeless people hanging around front area.
- in the middle of a lively area - free wifi - breakfast was continental, but good (and not too expensive) - heard from colleagues which had hotels for the same prize but much lower standard - very friendly personnell - all in all nice atmosphere
I have to say that my first impression was really not that good. the hotel is located directly besides a sex shop, the reception is on the second floor (without an elevator), the street is very noisy, and the room is smaller than i expected. finally, however, after a while i started to like the bit noisy festival atmosphere, and when thinking about the prize, the room size was absolutely ok!
The Staff was fabulous and always available for questions about the city, tourism, and ongoing events in the neighborhood. The included breakfast was a surprising high quality of food and I was thrilled by the fresh croissants, pâte and jams. The Manager was present and ensured the highest quality of experiences for an affordable price. As a college student on a relatively low budget- this was undeniably worth the visit and provided a safe, clean, and hospitable experience.
