Not a negative actually. I loved it all, but anyone who wants a modern, smooth looking place, beautifully put together.. should just go somewhere else.(I don't want to meet you here, either.) The bedroom was well, some might think strange, with a navy ceiling and wierd lamps. Everything everywhere at Alexandrie was somehow "imperfect". So if you are super fussy about perfection forget it. If like me, you thrive on the odd thing, the surprise, the real thing, the real wealth of things as they are, just check out this hostel!! But don't say I didn't warn you!! PS The staff are super cool and all weird and wonderful gentlemen and dudes.
I loved all of my experience at Alexandrie Hostel. I am a retired woman who lived a rich life on "the Main" in the 70's. I came here for the death of a friend, and for her funeral. I felt so well taken care of at the hostel during this time. It was amazing to return to my favourite city and to stay in this friendly, secure, laid back, and ethnically diverse hostel. Loved the spacious ground floor, where (mostly) youth hung out, with great music in the back ground and people either doing their own thing, or conversing. I needed my own space and my room with a shared living room, washroom and kitchen (with washing machine and dryer) was exactly what I needed. Again, the staff were spectacular, present and supportive. Thanks all for an amazing visit.
