It was along trip in Canada and it was great to stay in such a beautiful place at the end of it. The ladies at the reception were just fantastic, thank you very much! It's nice to stay in a unique hotel!
The staff/owners are very friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is a renovated home which has a distinctly European feel to it but with a higher quality. It feels like home when I am there.
The room was large, very clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was included and although only continental it was much appreciated and well enjoyed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again.
There were no negatives for me.
Clean & comfortable.
1. No available parking. Ended up paying $24 for one night in CEGEP parking garage. 2. Breakfast could be better.
The location and the staff. The staff was friendly and helpful, and provided gluten free bread at my request due to my gluten intolerance
The continental breakfast was poor. The fruit ran out both days and the only other offering was toast peanut butter and jam, and croissants.
Good location in Montreal, almost everything walkable
Vintage building, no elevator (I could carry my bags upstairs, but I might concern other travellers)
The room chat we stayed had a good size but lhe bathroom needs to be remodeled. The bath towels were old, small and rough. There was dust over the table the day we arrive and it wasnt clean while we stayed. There was also hair on the ground of the bathroom. There is no air conditioning and no lift. Be aware of this if you have heavy luggage. The breakfast is very, very poor .
We loved how convenient the location and the bath with jets!
parking can be an issue and the man on service was not friendly or even remotely interested to help
The staff were extremely helpful, and great to have a conversation with. A short distance from the bus station.
Room was nice. We were upgraded to larger room. Front desk staff very nice and helpful. In student area but very walkable to all we wanted to do.
Stairs might be a problem for some. We chose to park on street with no cost but had to move couple of times. We could have paid though. Breakfast was a little skimpy but adequate.
It was very easy to walk to places, I barely had to use transit, which is great, because I saved a few extra bucks. Very cool restaurants, bars, clubs, convenient and clothing stores were near by. The room itself was clean, the style is vintage and the continental breakfast was good for having something in your stomach while you toured the city.
The client service were a bit rude and would speak to you with a tone of ignorance if you needed further explanation on things. Even when I spoke French to them, they would think I didn't know the language well enough and would respond back in English, when I'm fully bilingual. I did't like how the furniture, specially the bed, would squeak; but its a an old place, so I kind of expected it.
Breakfast and friendliness of staff spoke English well enough very helpful. Comfortable beds.
AC was so so. No frig in room and no ice maker to speak off, had a tiny one meant for one person for whole Hotel. Slow hot water. No parking!!
cockroaches in the room, night staff incompetent, bad breakfast
The staff are very helpful and excellent with their work.i like the location of the hotel,it's very convenient for customer to commute downtown.
The wifi was poor, customers should be alerted when breakfast is ready.
The room I was initially allocated did not have a desk. As soon as I asked I was moved to a larger room with a table, beautifully decorated. Due to a change of plans I left a day earlier and they had no problems in refunding the last night. The room was
The breakfast was poor. The hotel lacks a comfortable common area.
This is a moderately expensive hotel, clean and well run by people who like their work. The location is fine, on Sherbrooke (the Fifth Avenue) two blocks west from Saint-Denis (the Bleecker Str.). The bed was firm, but not hard, so good that I had to open my eyes in the morning to realize I was not home. My room faced Sherbrooke and was quiet not just because of Canadian civility, but because the hotel has solid windows and air conditioning. On the other hand, no elevator, and after a long day's walking or standing, you climb to your room on steep stairs, not to mention the stairs you mount to get from the street to the front door. (All the fine old houses on Sherbrooke have those stairs mounting up, and mountain is Montreal’s first name.) The coffee at breakfast was good, but I like espresso, so not good enough. The croissants and marmalade and jam were utterly, utterly substandard. But I think it’s a mistake to have breakfast in your hotel and not on the town you’re visiting, though a first coffee is important when you don’t yet know where to get the one you really want to settle into. The breakfast room is in the basement with some lovely morning light peeping in through tiny upper windows, but not enough. Hot water is a precious delivery that requires patience and abiding hope.
Stayed here as a solo traveler and was more than happy with this hotel. Great location made it easy to walk to great shopping and restaurants. Small hotel environment felt safe and was perfect for someone who needed a prime location to stop in during mid-day. Biki bikes are just down the road, metro stop is walkable distance, and the bus that runs to the airport is only a 15 min walk away.
Very friendly front desk staff, excellent location, Montreal charm.
The breakfast was a little on the skimpy side.
This little hotel was fantastic! The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the room itself was gorgeous, the giant tub with jets was a god send (we attended an all-day music festival so that was a huge perk). The hotel was only a short walk from the metro station and near a bunch of restaurants and shops.
The wi-fi was pretty poor in our room but much better out in the lobby. Since we were Americans, the only way I could talk to my family was via internet so the wi-fi being low was tough to work around.
Room was nice. Staff were friendly.
Leaving keys at the desk and retrieving them there every time you go out is kind of weird and annoying. One time we arrived and no one was at the front desk for a few minutes. The cleaning staff never seemed to notice when we were out of toilet paper or tissue which was frustrating at times. Not as close to the subway as we would have liked, but not too far to walk. Clearly no sound proofing as we could hear a lot of talk from the lobby and guests in other rooms occasionally.
The lights in my car stayed on all night and the battery was dead in the am. The manager went out of her way to call her son to come and help jump start the car. He was as nice as his mom and I am glad I was staying at this inn!
Able to open the window in room . Very quiet for downtown Montreal. The period decoration very charming. Staff friendly and helpful. Bathroom completely renovated ! On bus line 24 all along Sherbrooke street.
room 2-36 the hot water took at least five minutes to warm up. The croissants were not fresh. Directions on map for parkings is not very clear , ended up parking at university of Quebec wich was not easy to find .
Good location, very colse to the mont royal road.
Breakfast is a little poor.
