Was given a complimentary upgrade room which included a king size bed and a Jacuzzi bath. Owners were very considerate and always there to help no matter what the problem was.
The B&B is located on a hill and the narrow driveway was very difficult to negotiate particularly in the snowy, icy conditions. This is no way the fault of the owners as the building is listed and the location is what it is. Dan was extremely helpful and assisted in parking the car during my stay.
Very warm & friendly couple.
Dan and Kathryn were very helpful and enthusiastic. Breakfast was excellent. Rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. Good location near Titanic cemetery.
Satin sheets were slippery and the comforter kept sliding off the bed.
Too late in the morning for the breakfest. 8.30 is really too late when you travel
Friendly, clean, easy to get to from the airport, and really easy directions to downtown.. Breakfast was absolutely delicious!!
Staff were wonderful. Breakfast was greT enjoyed our stay very much and will be back
Generous breakfast, and upgrade to room
Hosts may be a bit 'in your face'. Access to property is not the easiest.
No one was there to check us in. A young boy showed us to our room. When we did meet the property manager they did not have any of the necessary info or paper work. Bathroom was separated from Room but we were not informed. As well, there was no curtain or blind in the bathroom window. Neighbours could see into shower. Room was cold and could not find a thermostat to adjust temperature. Breakfast consisted of a pre-made dessert waffle, pretty sure from Costco. Was disappointed as the B and B advertised freshly made creeps as a selling point. Limited, terrible and awkward parking area.
Hosts were extremely helpful and accommodating. Breakfasts were excellent, and very well presented.
Great staff, super food.
Very friendly. Wonderful breakfast. Comfortable quiet room.
We just came back from a few weeks of travelling throughout the Maritimes and this place was the only problem we had. The premises is misrepresented and over rated, but the worst part is the abusive treatment by the owners, particularly Katherine. When we first arrived she was friendly enough, but talked a mile a minute, non stop. We had booked the "Auditor General Suite with private bathroom which includes a bathtub and hydro massage shower". During the lengthy vocal check in process she mentioned something about our bathroom being out in the hall. When I broke into her incessant yakking, I asked about the bathroom situation. In a haughty tone she informed us that we did not book an ensuite room, but a room with a private bathroom, and that private bathroom means it's not in your room. This was news to us and when I expressed our concern about this situation, she turned on us. All the friendliness and sunshine turned into an abusive tirade. She more or less told us that we were stupid for not understanding that we didn't have a bathroom in our room. When we further expressed our apprehension about having to get dressed during the night and go out into a public area to access our bathroom, she told us that we had no choice because it was a long weekend and we would not be able to find any other accommodations. Even if we left, she said she had our credit card number and would charge us for the 2 days anyway. By this time things had become very tense and uncomfortable and we felt we were being coerced, but it seemed we had no choice but to try to make the best of a bad situation, so we checked in. The room was quite small and the bathroom was out in the hall. They called it our private bathroom, but in fact it had no means to lock it, so anyone else would have access to this bathroom if they wanted to get in. The "partial harborview" was practically non existent, the state of repair and cleanliness left much to be desired.
The Family operation this establishment was very friendly and welcoming.
The facility was a bit to eclectic for my tastes.
Easy to reach downtown Halifax, and access to Hwy to Halifax airport. Comfortable room. Owners had good local knowledge of places to eat and directions to locations in the city.
a somewhat difficult driveway to maneuver.
The mattress was comfortable.
NO breakfast was offered. When I talked my girlfriend into staying at what was more expensive than the ALT-I said they offer a yummy breakfast-Felt they were either not prepared to host a B & B or burnt out. Drive way is narrow & over crowded. My friend mentioned this host barked & never saw her again. At 8:30 first time breakfast offered, no mention. They did mention they had four other guests (?) and were busy fixing their breakfast & couldn't take time to print a receipt. We paid cash. Really disappointing end to an otherwise lovely once in a lifetime trip. Why weren't we as important as the other guests?
Charming house. Enthusiastic helpful hosts.
Of the 90 odd places we have stayed in our travels over the last six months, this is one of the hardest to rate. Catherine is a very good host who is knowledgeable and passionate about the city and the region but she is in your face and a little overpowering. It's a pleasant property but certainly not 4 star. The TV in our room didn't work the first night and the room wasn't cleaned the next day even though we were told it would be. There was some story about the cleaner having lost keys. There's a bit of partying goes on here I think. Parking is a bit of a nightmare because of the caravan in the driveway. Average value for money. Would recommend with reservations.
Wonderfully decorated. I enjoyed learning the history if the home. Katherine and Danny were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good too.
The sheets and the towels didn't smell fresh after a humid day. We had to get new pillows. The driveway was tricky to get in and out of.
They made a vegan breakfast for me, and bacon and eggs for others.
The view was blocked by another building.
Staff was friendly and the facility seemed clean. Breakfast was nice.
Service was not available or very slow. Seemed the B&B was not prepared for us. No bedding for the futon on first night. The room smelled musty/damp and was quite warm with no ventilation.
The staff were delightful. Very good breakfast. Our room was lovely.
A little tight to park.
The woman running the inn is unwelcoming and ungracious. The room was damp and barely clean. We had to pay for breakfast, even though we were leaving early in the AM--and there was no offer of even a mouthful for the road. Don't waste your money!!!!!
Room was too small & in need of some sprucing up. Outside of inn didn't have a comfortable place to walk around, driveway & parking difficult, not a scenic or restful environment. Had stayed in several B&Bs on this vacation and this was not up to par with the others.
Our room was unique and very comfortable. The breakfast was very good.
Just missing a few items for a late night snack and a cup of tea for weary travellers.
Joanna and Dan are fantastic hosts, very attentive. We arrived after midnight and they had left us instructions to get in and Dan still met us. The breakfast was good, the bed comfortable and the room very clean.
The driveway… but can't help that.
Hosts were very friendly and interesting and willing to do whatever to make your stay enjoyable was clean and breakfast was nice we were close to airport and easy to get down town to see whatever we wanted
It was hard to get into drive needed ceiling fan got warm even with sm window fan needs some updating on decor
