The hosts were very friendly, probably also because of our ability to speak French. Some of the staff were not particularly savvy about the area, and could not give us directions to a dinner location, but that was a minor quibble. The hotel is placed in an old post station, and has a fantastic balcony with a view on the St. Laurent River. Also, they give you free parking. The hotel is a bit off from the city centre, even though it is located on the very popular St. Catherine street, that leads you directly to the centre. We walked the distance, but it's recommendable to take a bus to get around. Also, at night the area around the hotel is a bit strange - we don't know Montreal very well, but it did not feel very comfortable walking around after 10 p.m. |

The staff was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive hotel that is clean with nice staff, this is the right place for you. Be sure the cost is cheap. The location required transportation to all tourist spots (contrary to what we were told on the phone) and was in a dodgy area. For the added cost in transit, it was likely cheaper to stay downtown where everything would be in walking distance. Our toilet was outside of our room (which we were not aware of at the time of booking) and the furniture (although clean) was mis-matched and old. |

Fantastic building with tall ceilings and nice decor, lovely terrace, friendly staff, good breakfast. Our 2 room suite was very convenient for 4 people. The rate was more than adequate, and we received a 20% discount for AAA membership. A bit far from the downtown, but it was not a problem with the car (parking was included in our rate). |
