- affordable cost - clean - great location in Montreal's core close to restaurants and bars -friendly staff
-parking not bundled into cost of room -have to use library underground parking area to park car overnight at an additional cost. -hotel doesn't have an agreement with parking facilities for reduced rates
The room smells was very bad. washroom as well. No parking lot.
Low level of wifi
Location reminds NY Soho
hotel does not have an elevator, and middle age ladies took suitcases to 4 floor
Friendly staff, excellent location for dinning.
Confusing to find room numbers as they are located in different wings kind of split levels with separate stair access, weird.
very helpful, friendly staff, I felt extremely well attended to and taken care of with my individual needs; a place to feel at home at, if one can say so of a hotel, even as a solo traveler, quiet, but nevertheless in a neighborhood that is very much alive and close to everything a tourist wants: eateries, public transportation, shops, museums and all the sights
The location is perfect, perfect for me anyway, close to a metro station and close to the bus that takes you directly to the airport. The staff, when they're there is awesome. It's not a 24 hour service just to mention. My room was small but very clean and not missing anything except Wi-Fi. The room itself was good enough for me, the location of the room in the building is another story... read the cons.
There was no Wi-Fi signal in my room. It was a leisure trip but I had some business to do through emails. That would have been a deal breaker if I had known. I had to leave my room and get a signal somewhere else. Wanted to contact family (Skype) at the end of the day, no signal... I had to leave early in the morning and there was no staff, nobody anywhere, that could lead me to the exit door since the front door was locked! It was a bit confusing, all this carrying my luggage with me. I had the very last unit, in the back, on the 4th floor with no elevator! that too, was disappointing. 4 floors to walk up with luggage.... It was not expensive but with these facilities lacking, I should have gone somewhere else.
There were only a couple of rooms on each floor so it was quiet. The rooms were large and the beds comfortable.
Bilingual, friendly staff Fairly comfortable bed. Clean Room. Location was good - able to walk to old Montreal.
Free Breakfast but wanted to charge extra for croissants.
Location is perfect, staff friendly.
Breakfast could be improved, which is very very basic. Furthermore be aware that some rooms are located directly behind the Jazz Café, although out of 4 nights we only had 1 night serious difficulties regarding loud music.
Friendly helpful reception. Very ood breakfast with very attentive dining room staff, Comfortable cosy room with window. Small well appointed bathroom with relatively small shower unit but excellent shower-head which delivered a deluge. Very good wi-fi in room, Great location in Latin Quarter with easy access to Old Montreal City. Metro only a few hundred metres away.
The stairs only access and our luggage gave us a workout in getting to & from 4th floor room. However dining room / kitchen manager Hector helped on arrival. The outside appearance of hotel is overdue for a spuce-up and better signage.
Highly secure building. Very clean with a homey feel.
Sketchy people walking the streets near the hotel at all hours
Breakfast ok and all staff friendly and helpful.Location in heart of Latin Quarter. Excellent for airport bus only one block away. Bed sheets clean. Quiet and felt safe.
Crockery dirty. Kitchenette had toaster, microwave and fridge, coffee maker (bring own filter papers) Felt like student digs room that had seen better days..scuff marks on walls, utilitarian furniture....threadbare towels. Little, natural leigh try in room (budget with kitchenette and desk).
I have nothing bad to say about the staff. They were also very welcoming and helpful. The place is calm and they have an amazing croissant in breakfast, the best I ever had.
The building is a little confusing... you're walking in the floor and finds a storage place, not separated from the bedrooms area. Weird but not problematic.
Fair I guess
You get what you pay for
Cleanliness, comfort, breakfast
Small rooms but it didn't bother us too much
It is on one of the main streets of Montreal with lots of restaurants. Close to the Metro station as well. Walking distance to the old port
Kitchen didn't have a burner for cooking.... but that didn't affect us as it had microwave.
Beside having Wi-Fi accessibility, I liked nothing about my experience at the Auberge & Hotel Montreal Espace Comfort.
The Welcome Reception was poor, receptionist was in shorts and flip flop sandals and did not acknowledge my arrival until five minutes later. The room I occupied for $77 was an attic and my bed was two mattresses on a floor. The television screen was smaller than my computer screen. Really not pleasant at all. I could have slept in my car and would have been more pleasant.
I liked the free breakfast and Wi-Fi. The staff were very responsive when we lost power to our room and even when I locked our room keys in our room. The location is great: We could park at Le Grand Bibliothéque and take the metro at Berri-UQAM or Sherbrooke a block away or walk a few blocks to rent a bicycle.
Losing the power
The location was great. The hotel was within walking distance, or a short metro ride, to everything.
The site said there was parking but that wasn't completely true. There is street parking (if you can find a spot) but it is very expensive. When I checked in I was sent to a large underground parking lot a few streets over. The site also said the room I booked had a kitchenette which wasn't true. It had a small fridge and that was it. The shared washroom was horrible. They didn't even include soap to wash your hands...even the dirtiest public toilets provide hand soap. The shower had what appeared to be mold or mildew growing along the bottom of it. Probably due to the massive leak that occured when you used it. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash were provided in large bottles for sharing with the other guests. I used the shampoo but when I attempted to use the conditioner, nothing would come out because it was hard, chunky, and clumped together as if it had been sitting out for God knows how long. The shared washroom experience was really, really gross. The bedroom wasn't much better. It was very stuffy and small. The airconditioner was so loud that it was impossible to sleep. They advertised free wifi but I found no evidence of it...there was a super tiny, ancient television in the room that I half expect didn't work. I didn't bother turning it on because I would have needed a telescope to see the screen. When I went to check out there was no one there so I had to leave a note saying that I had left... All in all, not a great stay and certainly not worth the money.
- Kitchenette, microwave, refrigerator - Air conditioner - Excellent staff, they helped with my luggages at check-in & check-out - Fair breakfast included in price (bread, croissant, boiled eggs, jam, peanut butter, 2 types of cereals, $$ coffee machine)
- No elevator - Room cost: 95$. Wanted to pay with 100$ and they didn't have 5$ change. Had to pay debit. - Small tiny room - Only two towels including shower floor mat - Soap, shampoo dispensers ouside shower above toilet paper holder
very clean, very nice staff, good localization in le quartier latin, a lot restaurants around and metro. Very good price
The hotel itself is in the Latin Quarter of Montreal. A lot of bars and boutiques up and down the street. Very vibrant at night and lots of music playing everywhere. When looking at a hotel I think cleanliness and friendly staff are very important. The hotel was clean, and the staff were very friendly in answering any questions about the area and getting around.Being an anglophone wasn't a problem. The light in my room wasn't working.I informed the front desk and it was replaced immediately. Reception closes after 10PM. But you are given a card key to get into the building if you are out late sight seeing. The room and bathrooms are clean, and are cleaned daily including bedsheets. There are rooms with private bathrooms, but for my budget I opted for one of 4 units,2 per floor, with a shared bathroom and shower.Like a house bathroom, you just lock the door when in use. Breakfast was included. Coffee, orange juice, cereal, toast, and a free croissant. For solo traveler,I would recommend!
I found it odd that upon checking in, the receptionist didn't ask to verify my identity or a piece of photo ID after giving my name and reservation.Anyone knowing my name and check in date could have easily checked in under my name for free. My room had a desk in it. Upon returning to the hotel later that evening it was gone. For what reason? I wasn't notified. Loud band from the ground floor of hotel played after 12AM Friday night. Sound didn't vibrate through floor.I prepared for this with earplugs and had no problems.
They were ok with us having our dog stay with us in the room for a small charge. Was really hard to find a place in Montreal that allowed dogs and not to expensive. The room was ok and clean. Liked that it had a full kitchen. The staff was so helpful and nice! The man responsible for the breakfast helped me get tea late at night for no charge. Overall great stay for what it cost, would come back.
There was a weird smell when we walked into the room. It disappeared after a while when airing out.
I was in town for a soccer match. I didn't have much time to check in and the staff checked me in promptly. Room was cozy and utilitarian, but had a bed, a desk, and a shower. Close to the metro, and walking distance to plenty of restaurants. Solid place to crash after drinking in Montreal by day and by night. Slept very well. Would stay there again.
