Clean, quiet and clean. Very good room quality fir very reasonable price.
Breakfast definitely does not match 4 star level. Our first expression was really good but after breakfast it was down big time. Something management has to thing about.
I really like the hotel, employers were kind and helpful and the place/room itself was nice and comfortable. I loved the tub :)
I actually thought the beds were very comfortalble. Had a great night sleep.
The location was good. Easy getting to and leaving the city. Parking was great as I had a truck. Its a 10min walk to the Metro. It is on a main bicycle route.
The shower didn't have constant temperature taps.
Comfortable beds even though we were not in renovated rooms. Actually we're not keen on duvets, which tend to be the bedding of choice in renovated rooms. We find them too warm, especially in the summer, leading to the need to crank up the air conditioning or ask for blankets instead. Proximity to the Botanical Garden. Free parking.
One of our rooms was close enough to a noisy outdoor utility (not sure what it was for) that affected sleep.
Near metro, tourist attractions
Pool was small, restaurant expensive, not near restaurants in the city unless you use a car
Staff friendly and helpful; rates reasonable; food at restaurant good; close to gardens/museums
hotel isolated; not anywhere near shops, cafes, good restaurants, etc.; hotel shuttle very limited in range
They upgraded us to a suite
It seems like it has been newly renovated. It is near many tourist attractions lBiodome, Olympic stadium, planetarium ,botanical gardens, insectarium.
The toilet is right next to the shower. There is only a sliding door separating you from the entrance of the room
No Mirroir in room
Good location. Free parking.
Reserved a room with a king bed. When we arrived the room was not available. A regular room with 2 double beds had been reserved instead. We paid extra for the king bed. Although we were upgraded to a renovated room, it was not a good substitute.
noisy dirty unfriendly
Liked the location right at Olympic Park and not too far from the Metro. If you dont want to walk to Metro, they have a free shuttle that will take you there. Restaurant was excellent with very good food and our waiter Nicolas was very helpful giving us directions and suggestions to attractions. Nice indoor and outdoor pools. Room was clean and comfortable with the exception of one issue with our particular room. See "What didn't you like" for further details.
I had a room on the 4th floor that is considered a Premium room. It was a nice room with a mini fridge, temperature control, basin type sink that was visually charming. The only issues I had with my room was the door to the bathroom was a sliding glass door that was frosted. Unfortunately, the door did not slide all the say closed because it was blocked by the floor board. Therefore you did not get a comfortable sense of privacy. I would have much rather had a standard door that closed and locked. The air conditioning unit also did not allow you to keep the fan running continuously and would shut on and off during the night. That tends to keep me awake some nights. Other than that the room was good.
The Hotel Universal, has made several changes in the past 12 to 18 months. One noticeable change was the elimination of the Breakfast Buffet bar with powdered eggs and "fat foods." Our room, the outdoor pool area and restaurant were fantastique ! And free parking. All in all, we had a great trip and would recommend this hotel to our friends.
So here are a few tips. We had 3 people in our party, 2 adults and 1 child. One Queen bed and 1 Full or a Kingsize and a pullout couch, would have been best. Two doubles - does not work and double beds for adults - does not work. The other thing is we "did not" receive "breakfast coupons" which could have saved us $50 in breakfast fees ! I travel here frequently for work ( 4 to 6 times annually ) and was not impressed.
free parking, restaurant food
Noisy ice machine- move it to elevator area and several guests would be much more comfortable. Wi-Fi was very hard to connect to and unreliable.
staff location rooms
no breakfast included family of 4 cost CAD 50 each morning, which was expensive.
The hotel staff were the best helpful and great problem solvers. The restaurant was clean and its staff friendly. For the price well worth the value. The only problem I had was with booking.com and the staff were excellent if fixing it. As a disabled person I really appreciated the extra mile the staff went for me.
The location made it a long way to downtown. The menu in the restaurant was lacking in choices.
There is a bad smell of their blanket I wonder if they wash it or not , and the inside swimming pool is so small OMG and btw it's dark and smells bad, if there is a problem in your room and you call front desk if they tell you someone will come in 15 minutes oh trust me on one will come even you show yourself in the front desk to ask someone, no one will come too. So this hotel cost me so much money and it's suck, why you guys don't spend the same amount of money and stay in a real goooood hotel.
cost , location
staff sent me to an occupied room embarrassing brought my cot for my son put the mattress on the floor took the cot then shrugged off both topics when I asked about them
I liked our spacious room but our bed and living room was one and the same-no room separation at all! With large fire doors opening and closing at all hours we didn't sleep well. The breakfast was not included and was quite expensive for simple diner selections. The waitstaff were not welcoming or attentive. Our orders or checks were mixed up more than once in our week long stay and I speak French so how did that happen?
Too many people, not enough guest preference or perks other than a few attraction discounts. The food needs an update as do the room and pool areas. The fire doors are too loud! The quiet after 10 pm rule needs to be enforced! We did not sleep well. Also, the bartender mixed up drink orders and charged us for someone else's bar tab! We will not be returning since we found this hotel to be more about comedy than quality and the joke is on the unsuspecting guests. C'est dommage. It is in a great location that could be peaceful if the hotel management kept a better eye on their hotel.
the site the suite with jacuzzi
no possibility to order breakfast because no answers at eleven o'clock The blankets are foam and really not confortable the pillow too. louise from Sherbrooke
Location was great for walking to Olympic park and METRO.
It rained and the indoor pool was not open.

The room wasn't what I was thinking I was getting the carpets were so dirty they came in and had them cleaned I wasn't very happy do to it being so busy in Montreal I was stuck with this hotal for a week really need new carpts in the rooms
