strange owner, not friendly, too small bathroom
Good location. Friendly welcome from host. Great breakfast.
Liked the location. Liked the charm of the old building. Breakfast was good.
Think owners could upgrade some things.Six old and bent wire hangers in closet. Can buy at dollar store and replace. Fridge stuck in fireplace takes away from the charm. Add an electrical insert or something else to make a better first impression. It would not take much thought to upgrade this lovely old building. Owners should make the fact that the guests MUST pay with CASH right on the first page of reservation.
Situated close to everywhere in Vieux Quebec.
Stairs - need to advise people there are a lot of stairs.
Victoria was helpful in any way she could be, she was a terrific host. She cooked a different hot breakfast every morning. De la Fontaine was very relaxing, we really enjoyed our stay.
There are a lot of stairs, would be difficult for anyone with walking issues. Parking is not available at the B&B other than for dropping off and picking up, it's necessary to use parking located10 minutes walk away.
Very close to attractions Breakfast very good & catered to dietary issues Very clean Had character Victoria very helpgul
Lighting in room very poor Internet did not work or was very slow Hauling luggage down stairs (Victoria carried it up) Bathrooms very small Front door was a challenge to get in and out of Small rooms
This is just what we expected in old Quebec. It was charming and the hostess, Victoria, was absolutely lovely and very accommodating. The breakfasts were very good and there was a variety of options. A lovely stay!
Victoria, host was exceedingly pleasant and helpful. Great breakfasts, good tips for sightseeing. Wonderful location, within walking distance to most tourist locations. We enjoyed the balcony attached to the room very much.
Room was a little cramped - too many knick knacks/ dust catchers.
Great location! Victoria most helpful.Room small but comfortable.
Oh, those steep stairs!!!
I loved the character of our room, and Victoria made checking in (we came late) very convenient and easy. Breakfasts were home-cooked and different every day, and always good. It was great to have a comfortable and convenient room we could go back to and rest before going out in the evening.
Parking in the old city is expensive and there are no lots nearby, so be prepared to drop off and then walk back. Not a problem, just the way it is in the old city. The shower in our room was tiny, but the hot water and towels were plentiful.
Quaint, cozy B & B with an adorable proprietor!
The hostess, Victoria, is lovely and prepared a huge spread for breakfast. She is quite knowledgeable about the area.
The bathroom was tiny and the stairs up and down were steep.
Breakfasts were good. The young woman in charge was congenial and welcoming. The location on a quiet street in the old town was good for walking everywhere.
No one tidied my room, changed linens, emptied trash, etc. during my six-day stay. There was no on-site staff available during the evenings.
Loved it!! The location would be impossible to beat! Right in the heart of the old city. Rooms were cute, inn was quiet at night, food was delicious. All around great stay.
The breakfast was excellent. Each morning our host Victoria cooked a different meal..scrambled eggs, pancakes etc We also had a small private balcony with table and chairs.
location was good because it is in the old part of the city; easy to walk to restaurants, sights, bus. Proprietor was very friendly and helpful.
would not be acceptable for handicapped; or people who have trouble on stairs. Stairs are VERY steep. Parking is not a part of the B&B-- it is city parking; not too close.
Victoria is very nice and helpful. The location is great for touring the old city.
Wifi didn't work in room. Front doors difficult to work with.
Good breakfast. Clean and charming rooms, with many attention to details. Close to heart of Old Quebec and public transit.
Challenge for mobility impaired or large sized individuals.
Wonderful B&B in the heart of the tourist area of Quebec City. The decor is very much early French Canadian and the Inn is very clean. Delightful well supplied breakfast area and the hostess, Victoria, makes a delicious omelette. We enjoyed lingering over breakfast with other guests. Although our room was small and adequate for the time we spent in it, there are larger rooms to choose from. I would highly recommend B&B de la Fontaine.
The location was excellent and the proprietress was helpful regarding parking and local restaurants. It was quieter than other neighborhoods of Old Quebec I have stayed in.
The décor was striking in its ugliness; there was food from prior guests in the mini fridge; the breakfast room was cramped and windowless and the service lacking in warmth. I would not stay here again.
Location, attractive old building, good breakfast, pleasant staff.
The springs on the front doors were too stiff. No tea/coffee making facilities in room.
What a lovely place to stay! We will definitely contact Victoria at the B & B de la Fontaine again when we return! Beautiful room, comfy bed! Yummy breakfasts! At breakfast one morning, we met travelers from Russia, Pakistan,Japan and China! Convenient walking distance to everything old Quebec! Merci!
The location of this B & B could not be better -- 4 minutes to the Hotel Frontenac and all the surrounding historic sites. Plus it's on a quiet street, with a helpful and friendly proprietress (the owner's daughter) who serves huge, varied, and delicious breakfasts. The building is over 150 years old and has tall ceilings and historic charm that has been improved with modern decorating effects, such as original oil paintings. It has all the conveniences except for an elevator.
Bathroom was a bit cramped, but better than any hotel we've stayed in in Paris!
Breakfasts were lovely and ample. The dining room had a fresh, cheerful, and historic ambiance. There were many choices, traditional and healthful. Victoria wanted to meet our needs and answered inquiring emails promptly and helpfully. While we were there, she kept in touch to see if all was to our liking. Our room was charming and included a balcony to an interior courtyard overlooking flowering planters and yards below. We enjoyed hearing the strains of music from the festival around. Its location was perfect, and we walked a block over to a slope from the fortress to have sunset picnics under the rising moon and in view of the Chateau Frontenac and the harbor. Guests staying there were very friendly, too, happy with the accommodations.
We love historic places, and one has to be flexible about small halls and steep staircases. We appreciate that these homes have to be preserved in their original condition, and that is their beauty.
Victoria serves a fabulous breakfast and creates a welcome home for travelers.
