I loved that you could walk everywhere. Lots of restaurants and bars, and little shops. In the summer the beach would be very inviting.
We went to a pub at night before our show at the Victoria concert hall,. We had a excellent breakfast at the buttermilk cafe.

Cobourg has something for everybody.
Cobourg has something for everybody. It's a quiet town with an interesting combination of (1) a sizeable marina catering to serious boaters & sailors, (2) a large sandy public beach area that attracts mostly families, and (3) a quaint historical tourist/restaurant zone that seems to be frequented mostly by seniors.

A beautiful town with some spectacular houses. Loved the marina and the houses along the water. Next time we're there, I'd love to walk around the town and see the sights and the concert hall
We arrived as the sun was setting and had to leave before noon the next morning

The town was charming.
The town was charming. Nice old homes, a beautiful large beach with a nice marina as well. Some nice restaurants and very close to Port Hope which we visited as well.
Unfortunately they roll up the sidewalks downtown between 8pm and 9pm. We left our room on Saturday night at 9:30pm to get something to eat and everything was closed except the fast food joints close to the highway.

Cobourg is a delightful town full of history and boasts the best beach on Lake Ontario (in our experience). It's very accessible, not only by road but enjoys excellent train service as well. Although it is growing quite quickly it has managed to retain its small town charm.
Outstanding stay at the Willowmere. What a cozy and quaint bed and breakfast. I loved the location, with a private outdoor sitting area and access to a private beach. The size was perfect for two people. We felt the bed was comfortable and the memory foam pillows were a luxe touch. We read other reviews that said the space was too crowded or had too many knick knacks but we felt this gave the space character and a special feel. Wouldn't change a thing! Jane was a great host.
Will certainly be back!
Loved the 'library room'( #2) I'm 78 and had a challenge with the stairs - lady sweeping the stairs helped me get my bags up. Made the 10 minute walk for my 'beach afternoon', and back ( carrying my chair). Explored the shops, ate paella at 'The El'. Went to the farmer's market. It was definitely the 'escape' that I needed, after 'covid restrictions. Room was so clean that I didn't even use my Lysol cleaner that I brought!
There was no breakfast except at McDonalds. The location was fair as I was visiting friends close by.. I lived in Cobourg for 41 years. The Motel I stayed at was much improved from what it used to be.. There are still 7 or 8 persons living there permanently. I havent' lived in the area for about seven years, so I went back for visitation. The air conditioner was a little too noisey but neccessary
This is a century mansion converted to an Inn. originally the Governor’s mansion with a city jail attached. Now it is operating as an Inn with a few of the jail cells converted to rooms. about 3 cells make up a room. some of the original bars remain for amusing pictures to send to friends!
Lots of noise and shouting in the middle of the night, door lock to outside was dismantled and not working, there was vomit outside the front door, cooling system did not work, room was crazy hot and breakfast area was very crowded while the parking lot was virtually empty.
What a gem of a place! We were looking for a last minute stay near Cobourg and it was awesome!
Gorgeous rooms, comfy beds, fabulous meals and breath taking nature views…
We are definitely going back !!!
The breakfast did not have very many options, there was no croissants, bagels, nor was there any cream cheese or fruit, which is unheard of at a hotel, even a motel would have those things.
Lovely spa in the country, amazing meals (breakfast and dinner), large comfortable rooms, nicely decorated, with view of the countryside (lower level).
