Great location, excellent value for money. Friendly, helpful staff
Air conditioning noisy
The location is excellent There is good value to be had here, in an expensive city!
The wifi can be a little hit-and-miss No elevators
Reasonably priced for Vancouver. Nice older hotel
Location, near city centre with restaurants nearby.
Walk to transport eg. buses.
Location room was all we needed modern bath WIFI in the room cute as a button
Window A/C needs to be upgraded
The Barclay hotel is in a fantastic location. It's been recently renovated and I think they did a good job with the room. I liked the calming gray walls with white trim. I enjoyed the clean, excellent linens. comfortable bed. The room is small, but I wasn't in need of a great big room. and SO CLEAN!. Friendly staff. I'd book this hotel again. I really enjoyed staying there. If you're looking for an inexpensive hotel in vancouver, this is a great choice.
The wifi was awful. That was the *only* problem. Well for me. The hotel doesn't have an elevator, but I have no difficulty climbing stairs. The tv was mounted on a wall that made it difficult to watch comfortably, but I just put it on Galaxie's chamber music channel. I wasn't in vancouver to sit in my room and watch tv anyway, and I think it was just the reality of my room.
Hotel location is best and the staff was helpful. The cleaning staff did an amazing job in keeping the place spotless.
This is an old hotel and the air conditioner needs to be replaced. It's so noisy it felt like a propeller plane was about to take off. Since the air conditioner is installed by the window, it's not possible to lock the window.
Location and the staff
The hotel and the room had a weird smell, but I think it's because of the handrail made of wood.
Location, ground floor, helpful staff
Air conditioner behind curtain. Could not open curtain as other people could see in so could not use it.
Many stairs to some of the rooms
Cleanliness, ambiance, historic feel
Have to haul luggage up steps
I liked being right downtown - easy walking to everywhere. It is lovely place to stay since all has been upgrade but still holds old world charm.
It was nice to have the breakfast in the morning but as an early riser I did not find that 7:30 was early enough for me. Plus the main food group was bread based and I would like to have seen a bit of fresh fruit also as an options.
size of room after upgrade location price
poor air conditioning musty smell run-down appearance (it would be easy to replace the tattered mat at the very entrance) no decor
I have a disability and needed a safe place for my power chair, they did everything to accommodate me in securing my chair, and making our stay more comfortable.
Staff, cleanliness, rooms well appointed, comfortable. restaurants and shopping nearby
No elevator, 10 steps just to get to lobby. Many rooms on upper levels. Only desk staff to help with baggage, no working vending machines. No parking (fee parking at hotel block away, Very busy street.
Good location. Small simple rooms. Minimal amenities. Good if you only plan to sleep there.
Poor commication for parking.
Close to Stanley Park and restaurants.
Downtown congestion and lack of convenient parking.
Location was great.
Walking up 3 floors with my luggage.
The separate sleeping spaces since we were traveling with our teenage grandson. Staff was very helpful. Location was good.
Room was quaint but dreary. Lots of stairs and no elevator.
no elevator (but the staff carried my bag upstairs)
Within walking distance to many locations in downtown Vancouver
Location right in centre town Room was great Good quality bed,not like most. Staff very helpful.
Air conditioner very noisy. And is behind the curtain so did not work to well.
It is well located and close to everything. Even though the room was small and minimal it was comfortable and clean. You only want somewhere to sleep, right. The breakfast was good value and ample.
The stairs on arrival were a bit difficult but the taxi driver carried my bags up. I stayed on the first floor as there is no elevator. However the price accommodates this.
This is obviously a budget hotel and if that is what you are looking for it is fine. The location is great, with lots of restaurants and bars nearby.
No elevators. Luckily I was on the ground floor but there are still stairs from the street to the foyer.
