The rooms were not cleaned daily No desk clerk at office if you check in after hours
The AC was not working People were not there to guide us for parking. Lot of confusion
Room was clean and comfortable. Amenities such as microwave/small kitchenette and washer/dryer were nice. Arriving after hours with no front desk was a little confusing at first, but once we used the contact number the gentleman who responded was very helpful and everything went fine afterwards.
-no after-hours front desk (although in the end this didn't prove to be a problem)
The price was great for the location (proximity to downtown). The room was furnished very nicely. Also a rare hotel that has digital cable - very random, but definitely added to our trip.
Staff were nowhere to be found - if we had needed assistance, it didn't appear to be available. Thankfully everything was alright. Bed was very uncomfortable - could not get a sound night's sleep, and neck/shoulders hurt throughout the following day. Building seemed secure, but the neighbourhood was undesirable, which led to a little discomfort. Could not comfortably find street parking, which was a little stressful, but could be attributed to the timing of our trip.
Was able to park on the street The shower was good
-Room not ready: Lights out Non-functional closet doors -2 shower towels for 2 people for almost a week!!! - Room switched from 3rd floor with elevator to 4th floor without elevator (no communication) - WiFi hookup works only in 2nd floor (no communication) - no attendant at announced hours and no one answered the phone... I could go on and on...
-close to subway -clean, quiet and comfortable -good value -profits go to help the community (newcomers) so I like the fact that my money is going to a worthwhile social cause!
-no coffee machine :-( -a bit of a hike if you're on the 4th floor as elevator only goes to 3rd -no hangers in room -no hairdryer in room, but all you have to do is ask!
We have to call a emergency number to get the key because the réception door is closes and i was waiting for 30 min when i came .very bad ...
Near metro station
Smell of smoke in washroom. Previous resident must have been regularly smoking there because the stench didn't go away. Made me nauseous and gave me a headache. Seeing a staff member at some point would have been appreciated especially to return the keys
The staff is a rare thing in this hotel. The metro station is nearby, 40 minutes walking to the downtown.
A railway junction is nearby, quite noisy during the nights.
The room was big and the staff was very kind allowing us to keep the room until late afternoon of the check out day. Metro at 3 minutes walking distance.
Wifi inconsistent in the third floor; inexistent staff but since we knew it we communicated with them by email. There is the train next to the place so can be quite noisy. Considering how cheap the room was I shouldnt complain.
location near metro
The fact that the office has no 24hour service, could have been more explicit. Bad wifi
The staff are very nice. The location is excellent. Good deal for travelers.
No Internet access available.
I was pleasantly surprised upon arriving at this hotel, the other reviews mentioned the dread word "hostel" but what they meant was the building is drab and institutional, but the large rooms are fantastic at the price. They feature sound-proofing, a flat screen TV with satellite feed, a memory foam mattress and a mini-fridge. The location is also great, Lionel Groulx subway stop, with connections to the airport bus, is only one stop way and it's still only 20 minutes to downtown. There are few amenities in the area, but the hotel has two restaurants and there is a huge IGA food store a couple of blocks away.
There never seems to be anybody at reception, so I don't know what the procedure is if you have a problem. They email you the code to the door so you need your smartphone with you. Also memory foam mattresses aren't for everybody, if you need a softer mattress look elsewhere.
no parking. train near the window. no soap no shampoo
Very quiet and clean. No parking fees.
No staff on the weekend. Indications to get in the building to get the room keys were clear though.
internet was only available in the lobby of the second floor, we were on the first floor. Room was very hot but had a loud A/C to compensate. Haven't seen many of the staff in the hotel Room wasn't cleaned during our 3 days stay
The room was clean and spacious. The location was perfect below the traffic jams of downtown and quick access to the 20 and our destinations. Near the Atwater market and excellent restaurants!
The room had four hangers total and as we were attending a wedding and a few other events our clothes needed to be hung or ironed(no iron) . A staff member was spotted Saturday and tried to fix the tv said he'd send someone and never did. The empty pizza boxes, beer bottles, full garbage sat around the public areas Sunday and still there Tuesday morning at 9am when we departed. They could step it up!
Ok location. Close to Metro.
No staff during weekend. No fresh towels per day. No room cleanup.
location is good, very close to a metro station. Price is very low compared to others. Shower facility is nice.
We lived at third floor and the WiFi router is broken. The hotel says they have WiFi, but no, only first floor and second floor have. Also, the hotel says they offer fee parking spaces, but when we got there, they told us that we can park our car at the street nearby but they can't promise if we will be charged and our car is safe or not. Also, no staff is there after 5 p.m., so u will find its really inconvenient when u need something.
Conveinient location Great room and had everything that was needed. Clean and secure
Bed was on the firm end so if you are used to a soft to medium mattress this isnt for you. Although there was AC in the room, the rest of the building was unbearable.
Clean, convenient base in the city, very comfortable bed. Good communication from the staff via email.
No staff on weekends, but check-in was still very easy.
Close to Metro.
Lobby and hallways were very warm.
The price was great compared to other locations. The room was initially clean. Location was close to metro. There's an IGA grocery store just a couple of blocks down the street (room has a small fridge for a few groceries).
This is like a hostel except you have your own bathroom. There is no room service at all which means beds weren't made up for you each day, no clean towels (unless you ask for some), no coffee pot in the room (you can get instant coffee in a small room by the entrance) and the room isn't cleaned. We were there for six nights which is a long time not to have your bathroom sink cleaned, floors swept etc.
no service at all in the room
A great find in area of Montreal that is not well-served by hotels. I was visiting with my nephew to attend my daughter's graduation at McGill and Residence BB was close to where my daughter lives. Excellent value compared to hotels in Old Montreal or downtown. Although there is no staff at night and weekends, this was not a problem. Rooms are adequately appointed, clean and quiet. There is unrestricted street parking nearby, which is a real plus. All in all, this is excellent value provided you are not expecting anything too fancy!
