It was comfortable and clean.
Far from the downtown.
The stuff people
No room service, to much noises in the floor during the night an early morning. The Doors are mit Isolated.A big street in front an a big rail in the back of the bilding.
Hot water supply
clean, quiet atmosphere, nice owner and man at reception
poor internet, no water boiler or microwave at room
Easy access although there was nobody to greet me on a Saturday noon. Instructions were clear and easy to follow - just like any boutique hotel in the US. Room was nice, quiet, clean and spacious with WiFi access. They upgraded me for free. 15 minute walk to metro stop.
Spending only one night ;-)
The hotel was great overall. Right off the metro at place saint henri on the orange line made travel very convenient. The location was very nice. I like to stay away from tourist traps and in local neighborhoods and this was exactly that. There were decent food options in the neighborhood also. As far as the hotel is concerned it was very comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room had a/c and decent cable options on tv.
The only thing I didn't like was the fact that hotel staff weren't there on weekend (which we knew in advance, and isn't uncommon for independent hotels outside US). They did however clean our room one day on the weekend, but we had accumulated a lot of trash, which we placed in bags by the bin, but it wasn't taken out even though the room had been cleaned. We had to take it out ourselves the next day. Also when we needed anything other than extra toilet paper (soap, shampoo, etc) we had to ask for it. But once we asked they were more than glad to accommodate.
If you are looking for a clean, quiet, and reasonably priced place to sleep in Montreal, this is it. Our room was clean and quiet, and had a TV and fridge. The bed was comfortable, too. The metro is a five minute walk away, so it's easy to get downtown. We didn't have any trouble finding a parking spot on the surrounding streets.
The place has the feel of a hostel, so if you are looking for comfort and style, look elsewhere. There is hardly any staff around, though we did have a chat with the manager (nice guy). There is no meal option, but there are a few nice places close by.
The room was clean. The hotel is convenient to the Metro. Plenty of restaurants and an IGA were close to the hotel. There was a small refrigerator in the room and a microwave in the break room down stairs. The 747 bus from the airport is only one metro stop from the hotel. Be aware it can be very crowded on the trip to the airport.
The microwave was down stairs, but it was available. The phone system could not be used to make calls. Luckily, Canada Bell pay phones are everywhere, and phone cards are inexpensive and easy to get. Prior reviews had prepared me for the front desk to be empty most of the time. It was not an issue.
location next to place st. henri metro,, very safe place, and really queit....MR vorhat was really nice person..thanks once again from jeff and mary..
The rooms were not cleaned daily No desk clerk at office if you check in after hours
The AC was not working People were not there to guide us for parking. Lot of confusion
If you are looking for the amenities of a hotel then this place is not for you. However, if you are ok with lack of reception staff and the absence of a daily cleaned room then this place is quite comfortable and good value. It's quite close to a metro station that will get you into downtown Montreal in under 20 minutes. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. It is in a safe, quiet neighborhood with lots of restaurants and cafés nearby.
Wifi only works on the 2nd floor and the connection is fair at best. The owner opened the door to our room while my boyfriend and I were still in bed (and undressed). We were really weirded out when that happened because he didn't have any premise to come into our room. We calmly confronted him about the situation and he started apologizing excessively to us. After that incident we started locking our suitcases for peace of mind when we left our room. Also he told us that the rooms are cleaned every 3 days. We stayed for 4 nights and our room never got cleaned. Not sure if we will stay again, but if you are used to "roughing it out" so to speak, then you will find it quite comfortable and affordable.
Room was clean and comfortable. Amenities such as microwave/small kitchenette and washer/dryer were nice. Arriving after hours with no front desk was a little confusing at first, but once we used the contact number the gentleman who responded was very helpful and everything went fine afterwards.
-no after-hours front desk (although in the end this didn't prove to be a problem)
The price was great for the location (proximity to downtown). The room was furnished very nicely. Also a rare hotel that has digital cable - very random, but definitely added to our trip.
Staff were nowhere to be found - if we had needed assistance, it didn't appear to be available. Thankfully everything was alright. Bed was very uncomfortable - could not get a sound night's sleep, and neck/shoulders hurt throughout the following day. Building seemed secure, but the neighbourhood was undesirable, which led to a little discomfort. Could not comfortably find street parking, which was a little stressful, but could be attributed to the timing of our trip.
Was able to park on the street The shower was good
-Room not ready: Lights out Non-functional closet doors -2 shower towels for 2 people for almost a week!!! - Room switched from 3rd floor with elevator to 4th floor without elevator (no communication) - WiFi hookup works only in 2nd floor (no communication) - no attendant at announced hours and no one answered the phone... I could go on and on...
-close to subway -clean, quiet and comfortable -good value -profits go to help the community (newcomers) so I like the fact that my money is going to a worthwhile social cause!
-no coffee machine :-( -a bit of a hike if you're on the 4th floor as elevator only goes to 3rd -no hangers in room -no hairdryer in room, but all you have to do is ask!
We have to call a emergency number to get the key because the réception door is closes and i was waiting for 30 min when i came .very bad ...
Near metro station
Smell of smoke in washroom. Previous resident must have been regularly smoking there because the stench didn't go away. Made me nauseous and gave me a headache. Seeing a staff member at some point would have been appreciated especially to return the keys
The staff is a rare thing in this hotel. The metro station is nearby, 40 minutes walking to the downtown.
A railway junction is nearby, quite noisy during the nights.
The room was big and the staff was very kind allowing us to keep the room until late afternoon of the check out day. Metro at 3 minutes walking distance.
Wifi inconsistent in the third floor; inexistent staff but since we knew it we communicated with them by email. There is the train next to the place so can be quite noisy. Considering how cheap the room was I shouldnt complain.
location near metro
The fact that the office has no 24hour service, could have been more explicit. Bad wifi
The staff are very nice. The location is excellent. Good deal for travelers.
No Internet access available.
I was pleasantly surprised upon arriving at this hotel, the other reviews mentioned the dread word "hostel" but what they meant was the building is drab and institutional, but the large rooms are fantastic at the price. They feature sound-proofing, a flat screen TV with satellite feed, a memory foam mattress and a mini-fridge. The location is also great, Lionel Groulx subway stop, with connections to the airport bus, is only one stop way and it's still only 20 minutes to downtown. There are few amenities in the area, but the hotel has two restaurants and there is a huge IGA food store a couple of blocks away.
There never seems to be anybody at reception, so I don't know what the procedure is if you have a problem. They email you the code to the door so you need your smartphone with you. Also memory foam mattresses aren't for everybody, if you need a softer mattress look elsewhere.
no parking. train near the window. no soap no shampoo
Very quiet and clean. No parking fees.
No staff on the weekend. Indications to get in the building to get the room keys were clear though.
