The approach to the cabin, through gates and down steps, through a rhododendron forest. The large windows overlooking the bay. The very comfortable bed.
Lack of wifi and the poor TV and limited number of TV channels.
We stayed at the bigger cabin, which was very cosy, airy and inviting, with eclectic knickknacks, lots of wood, a fireplace, and big windows opening up to the small estuary bay and the woods. Well-located for reaching e.g. the lovely Lighthouse Loop trail, and driving distance to some amazing beaches and other nature sights.
No TV reception, though plenty other things to do (lots of board games, books and DVDs) for the rainy day. Was a small distance (2km or so) to nearest grocery stores, restaurants, etc.
Very quiet and peaceful. We had the sense of being remote, but were only 2 minutes from town and amenities. Not a sound to disburb, and excellent view of the small bay. Our cabin (about 12x16) was lovely; tastefully decorated and light/bright.
Not much; it's a cabin situation and we had the smaller cabin, so the 'kitchen' is a toaster, microwave and small fridge. But the cabin itself was lovely and tastefully decorated.
Near the wild pacific trail
Very little hanging space for clothing
Owners went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. The cabin had everything we needed, was clean, quiet and charming. Situated on the bay meant that we could enjoy the changes and variety from high tide to low. Watching birds on the mud flats, listening to wolves, watching sunsets - great! Terrific location.
The deck of this wooden cabin sat over the quiet water of a tree surrounded tidal inlet on the opposite side of the peninsular from the ocean and close to The Wild Pacific Trail, one of many 'must-do' walks. No wi-fi but lots of dvd's, books and games. Comfortable armchairs, well-equipped kitchenette, fresh bathroom with thick towels. Log cabin type décor with lots of 50's memorabilia.
There was no power outlet in the bathroom, nor near a mirror elsewhere, for a hairdryer. The bedroom lighting was rather dim. Luggage must be carried down a number of steps to the cabin. There were no teabags or sugar (only coffee) on arrival.
The cabin has a loft bedroom with a double bed, one bedroom with two double beds and a pull out leather sofa bed. The cabin was very clean and has a deck (with BBQ) that is right on the bay where you can see deer, eagles, blue herons and lots of blue jays. The kitchen has everything you could need and the decorating is fun and eclectic. There are games, movies, a TV and wood stove. Outside there is a firepit and wood for burning for roasting marshmallows or making smores. The location is close to town, yet very private and in a very natural environment. A lovely get-away location!
The beds could be a bit softer, but some folks prefer firm mattresses. A soft mattress topper or two might be a good option.
It was clean and quirky. It was like living in an old fashioned trapper's hut. The owners were friendly. Some might enjoy its isolation.
The access to the unit which was effectively at the bottom of the owners garden was precarious and possibly dangerous when wet. It is way overpriced compared to other units we stayed in during our tour of Vancouver Island .
Ä magic place
Cabin was great, superb views across the lake, saw eagles deer and lots of birds. Although cozy, great for a couple, It was so well equipped the space was very well used with terrific shower, very comfy bed and windows over looking the lake great views of the stars. Steve was great very welcoming and friendly. Great location.
We loved the beach house. It was so cosy and nice. The view was the best. Right out to the water, with lots af nature and wildlife. And they even have internet and take credit cards now. Go there and take good time.
Quaint little cottage tucked away in beautiful Ucluelet.
Would have liked to have a few more channels on the TV
just a lovly place to kick back and relax, close to some beautiful beaches, will defintley be back..
It was simply awesome! Surfboards and bikes for donation of $10? What a deal. Shame we could only stay 2 nights. Good luck Gordon!!
Great little intimate cabin. Right on the beach close to pacific trail.
Maintenance of walk way to the water and fire pit area. More seating around fire pit would be nice. TV and channels were not great working or there
Quiet environment Live with nature Deers and birds by the cottage every day
No room to put our clothes, closet fill with owner rain cloths
Everything was fantastic!
The cabin was cozy, and the property is immaculate. Sounds funny but the path from the driveway down to the shoreline cabin is really something. I'd recommend staying here to anyone. What a great deal!
The lock on the bathroom door doesn't grab quite right, but overall not really a big deal. Also, it sounds the speaker in the TV is starting to go, but we were really only watching TV because it was too rainy to be outside. Still a great place to stay without a doubt.
The cabin was very secluded and quiet, and lots of wildlife came down onto the tidal flat while the tide was out. Both Julie and Steve were really friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.
