Good hotel ,accomadating bar staff .
Smelly room and unsafe neighbourhood.
Staff and value for money were great.
Location of hotel to downtown was good but location in regards to homeless people was a bit disconcerting. Walking out at night was not pleasant.
WAS SAD TO SEE THE HOMELESS
The pub downstairs
Tiny room, bathroom hidden in "cupboard", disgusting blankets
Everything is tired and in need of refurbishment
old looking room, bed, carpet. small washroom, small shower, broken furniture, bad smell in the building and room .
The area was HORRIBLE. There were hundreds of homeless people camping out for blocks around the hotel. It was very scary.
Clean, close to downtown, cheap.
Smelled like cigarette smoke, breakfast was disgusting, instant coffee, wifi doesn't work in rooms. Some staff rude.
Super friendly staff, free bike rental (the hotel has only 2 bikes available), nostalgic feel, view over the city. The receptionist gave us some insider tipps about the city.
Slightly dodgy location
The staff were very very nice and the room was good.
The location is not the best area of Vancouver but it's close to downtown which was perfect
The price included breakfast which was a bonus. The food at the restaurant was excellent.
Was in a sleazy area.
Vicinity to Downtown
Neighborhood has lot of addicts and homeless people surrounding
Old stinky overpriced room
Decent hotel at a cheap price in Vancouver. Staff freindly and accomodating.
Awful neighbourhood... drugs and prostitutes at every corner of the street...
Has character and clean. Food selection and lounge is fine. This is a 100 year old hotel but maintained.
No WI-FI in rooms, had to use lobby. Beds are too large for the room sizes is some cases.
The restaurant had good food & service, the continental breakfast was excellant.
The room was TINY, no room to move, filthy, no air conditioning. We had to have the window wide open to get any cooling, so the street noise was very disturbing. Bad location with all the street bums hanging around every doorway & street corner.
The staff is just great, and understanding. They are ready to help.
The hotel is just over expensive compared to the location. The surrounding of the hotel is awful, you can see junkies everywhere, there are a lot of police sirens. It is just unplaisant, violent, ans extremely dangerous. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone who can't handle that type of area. It is unfortunate for the staff who are just lovely.
1. Very close to downtown, easy to locate. 2. Breakfast included with your stay (not grand, not bad either) 3. Front desk staff are helpful enough. 4. Bathroom is clean.
1. Location is scary! homeless, drug addicts roaming freely (or live) in the same block. We were greeted (asking for money) by one of them the moment we got off the car. They may not be harmful (but who knows?!) 2. No AC in the room, just a little electric fan (thanks to the wide windows, but be careful there are no grills) 3. The bed (and the sheets) could be clean, but not visually attractive (not sleep-enticing). 4. Hotel wi-fi signal is so poor in the room, guests had to go down the lobby to have wi-fi access) 5. Old school TV (with a remote control that doesn't work) 6. No fridge, coffeemaker 7. Outside parking; and it is additional charge to your bill.
Twice as cheap as other hotels in downtown Vancouver. Within walking distance from Canada Place and other downtown attractions.
Dozens of homeless and other weird-looking people right outside the hotel. The entire Oppenheimer park at Powell and Dunlevy streets (one block away) is used as a campground for homeless people. Perhaps it's not dangerous, but it doesn't feel safe to walk outside the hotel in any time of the day.
After staying one night I canceled the second night and they gave me a full refund for the second night.
Very sketchy neighborhood. There was a complementary breakfast that was comprised of cold cereal and milk and instant coffee.
The staff were friendly. The pub was good.
Neighborhood was shady.
stafl at reception very helpful close to gastown , chinatown and downtown Pub with food in building.
many (non aggressive) homeless people around, didn't feel safe at night. OK during the day.
Very friendly and courteous staff. Great breakfast included.
The area surrounding the hotel had aa lot ofbeggars but they did not worry you.
