The pub downstairs
Tiny room, bathroom hidden in "cupboard", disgusting blankets
Everything is tired and in need of refurbishment
old looking room, bed, carpet. small washroom, small shower, broken furniture, bad smell in the building and room .
The area was HORRIBLE. There were hundreds of homeless people camping out for blocks around the hotel. It was very scary.
Clean, close to downtown, cheap.
Smelled like cigarette smoke, breakfast was disgusting, instant coffee, wifi doesn't work in rooms. Some staff rude.
Super friendly staff, free bike rental (the hotel has only 2 bikes available), nostalgic feel, view over the city. The receptionist gave us some insider tipps about the city.
Slightly dodgy location
The staff were very very nice and the room was good.
The location is not the best area of Vancouver but it's close to downtown which was perfect
The price included breakfast which was a bonus. The food at the restaurant was excellent.
Was in a sleazy area.
Vicinity to Downtown
Neighborhood has lot of addicts and homeless people surrounding
Old stinky overpriced room
Has character and clean. Food selection and lounge is fine. This is a 100 year old hotel but maintained.
No WI-FI in rooms, had to use lobby. Beds are too large for the room sizes is some cases.
The staff were friendly. The pub was good.
Neighborhood was shady.
stafl at reception very helpful close to gastown , chinatown and downtown Pub with food in building.
many (non aggressive) homeless people around, didn't feel safe at night. OK during the day.
Very friendly and courteous staff. Great breakfast included.
The area surrounding the hotel had aa lot ofbeggars but they did not worry you.
Courtesy, of the entire team at the front desk was superb including guidance to seniors like us, patience perseverance politeness were seen by us keep it up, in fact the breakfast on =the house was nice and plenty.
Though the management was very much interested to provide us the max comfort, the re was space constraint n we felt the room size was not adequate for a couple, it was quite sufficient for singles, that was our opinion. otherwise every thing was o.k.
Staff were great. The restaurant/pub and entertainment was great. Didn't expect the included breakfast in the morning.
The location was fairly central but you need to be prepared for the number of homeless people on the street in the immediate area. It didn't worry me, but it may worry some people. I like to experience the real city not just the tourist areas.
Was advertised as no frills and presented as "quaint, retro" it has a lot of character, could easily transform into themed if the shower and hand basins while functioning well were not damaged with age and use and the air conditioning was not only a small fan, inadequate for summer. The room was reasonable in size, facilities and presentation. Good continental breakfast included in Pats pub and bistro attached. Food and drink well priced. Staff helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and a bus stop Downtown very handy. Would be an easy walk Downtown if it wasn't for the first few blocks of drug addicts and homeless people, when the police try to move them on they get abusive otherwise pretty harmless by day. A good mix of guests staying, internet and books and tourist info. Great reception area. Would stay again if it wasn't for the location or if only a night or two.
Room hot and Pats pub had live music often late, great to watch but hard to sleep during. It was the neighborhood that let it down. People sleeping on the street, prostitutes, fights and drug addicts visible from my window at night, sirens daily and to walk means going past a concentrated group of humans wasting away, lost souls so sad. The smell of urine and cannibus permeates the street which is littered with syringes (no needles) and trash. I was nervous & cautious about being out after dark shame as the movie theater is only a couple of blocks away and a great wee wine bar less then 10 minutes walk down Dunlevy St. Following a day trip to Seattle I was detained at the Canadian Border on return and questioned at length about how I came to be at The Patricia for 10 nights, had anything happened during my stay and was I given anything etc, it was both an embarrassing and demeaning experience. Downtown Vancouver is a safe beautiful city. A stay The Patricia is a ying/yang experience.
Close to downtown Free Breakfast Relatively cheap.
Drug addicts, gang members, homeless people and call girls everywhere. Constantly worried about my car getting broken into outside. Rooms were tiny with the sink next to the bed, and shower/toilet in a "closet" right off of the bedroom. Bed sheets were torn and long black hairs were everywhere in the sheets.
Unsafe location with probably many crimes! We saw an arrested man in cuffs lying on the ground by an unmarked police vehicle with a policeman standing there! Not nice to see that...
Vintage hotel, very clean, room cleaned everyday, staff very helpful. Neighborhood is poor, but short bus ride from downtown and tourist attractions. I would stay again.
The Staff was AMAZING--friendly and dedicated to answering any and all questions and concerns. Very easy to get around town from the hotel's location.
The neighborhood is not safe. This is "skid row" of Vancouver. We were told that the hotel guests are left alone…but no one can guarantee this. We had no problems…but we were not comfortable on the street at any time of day or night. Probably would not have felt as uneasy if we were younger. The carpets in the rooms need to be replaced.
The Budget Inn is, as its name suggests, a budget Inn & with that in mind the budget conscious traveller gets a good deal.
I liked the antique feel and historical pieces and information around the hotel.
This hotel is in the centre of one of Vancouvers worst areas! When we arrived at midday, we parked next to a prostitute on the hotel corner we were followed but the eyes of multiple dodgy characters. Checked in and my boyfriend went to get the bags and was asked by a vagrant wether he could 'help', trying to prise the bag he was carrying out of his arms. Another guy tried to sell him an artists easel he had 'found'. Once bags were safely in the room, after walking up the stairs as the ancient lift was not working- staff said 'oh, it does that! Take the stairs' the room was comfortable but only just space for a double bed and one bedside table. The bathroom was built into what I imagine used to be the wardrobe then the sink was at the end if the bed. View to the wall of the other side of the hotel. Driving out of the hotel (wouldn't want to walk) the whole street is populated by homeless and there is a market set up on the street for them to sell things that they have found. Not the best part of town. Wouldn't go back here!
Free breakfast Secure baggage deposit the day of checkout Staff really kind Free bike rent Free umbrellas
Terrible neighbourhood Really small rooms Small bathroom
In the middle of homeless people living just around the corner. My family were afraid to go outside in the evening, but it was worse to stay in a room with no view, air-conditioning, furniture to sit, etc. This hotel should be completely renovated...!!!
