Score from 100 reviews Exceptional
This 1835 historic property was a former Post Office in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It is a 10-minute walk from the Shaw Festival Theatre and uniquely decorated rooms boast period designs.

|Historic Davy House Bed & Breakfast is centrally located in Niagara-on-the-Lake's heritage district. Guests can relax in the outdoor hot tub or enjoy the putting green in the well-maintained garden.||
This Niagara-on-the-Lake hotel is a 12 minute drive of Niagara Falls. The hotel offers an indoor swimming pool, on-site restaurant and free Wi-Fi.
Score from 307 reviews Very good
The room was ready on time but simply getting keys out of a lockbox was annoying.
For the money, I would have expected a more personalized experience. Other than the employee cooking breakfast there was no staff or owners to be seen. The warmth of a B&B was totally lacking
Very conveniently located.
We chose Mr. Hugh's room because it was advertised as a two room suite with fireplace, private entrance, and a shared bathroom, which seemed perfect for my husband and me and my elderly mother who was travelling with us. The photos looked appealing, showing a charming sitting area with wicker furniture, in a sun filled room. These furnishings were no longer there, when we arrived and were replaced with an odd assortment of uncomfortable wooden chairs assembled in front of a tiny flat screen TV, atop a small electric fireplace. The bathroom was off one bedroom, but not accessible from the other, which made for awkward, intrusive moments and there were steps to navigate to get there. To top it off, it had one tiny bar of soap! Fortunately, we found more soap in a disorderly closet in the suite which housed cleaning supplies, so helped ourselves. The beds were fine, with nice linens, but the floors felt gritty under our feet and the carpets obviously hadn't been vacuumed in some time. Needless to say, we were very disappointed with our rooms. There didn't seem to be anyone in the house other than the other guests until the following morning. We were not given the Wi-fi password and no one was around to ask. Breakfast was okay and we met a very nice couple who kindly showed us their room and the rest of the inn which was much, much nicer than Mr. Hugh's room. I would not recommend this room to anyone, but might consider staying in another room at Burke House Inn for our next visit to the Shaw Festival.
This is actually my first time to make a comment on Booking. Because this Inn is so fantastic that I have to write down something about it. It locates in downtown and every room has its unique features. The owner of this Inn is very friendly and breakfast is delicious. I would definitely go back!!
ambience of old house, tactfully maintained with minimal overlay of the premises with glitz--antique,period, mod, or contemporary.
[Note: "didn't like" too strong describe remarks below.] Abigail's room could do with another (necessarily) small chair...We missed the option of being able to breakfast on our usual granola & yogurt...could not open bedroom window [because already Oct??]...Switch for heater much too difficult to find for old codgers like us.
The property is lovely and such a close walk to the town. The rooms are very quaint and the common areas on the main floor are excellent.
The breakfast was skimpy and offered no alternatives for people who didn't like or couldn't eat what was presented. It felt like we were on a tight breakfast budget.
Location was very convenient. beds comfortable
windows were sealed shut, unable to open. A/C was being repaired but no ventilation except fan. 1st breakfast left much to be desired, 2nd day was great.Hosts not available at designated check in. No instructions re times ie;. breakfast.
Big comfortable bed. Window seat. Location - did not use car while there. Quiet ,but close to everything.
Breakfast was a disappointment both mornings. I have stayed in many B&B where there was a great selection & plenty of choices. Coffee was not always hot & not in enough supply.
History, class, culture.
Noisy painters/repairs on roof to repair shutter at 7:20am.
Location. Nice to be able to walk to everything. Even after checkout was able to park on street for day. Lovely hot breakfast and the serving staff were excellent!
A/C and airflow did not seem to work properly. Sheet for door to main bedroom aglow from Exit sign after lights out. No TV. Too much light in second bedroom, really is not suitable as second bedroom as also only access to bathroom is through other bedroom.
GOOD LOCATION - WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF SHOPPING , THEATRES RESTAURANTS, LAKE EXCELLENT BREAKFAST
Location is great, as is parking Nice, quiet area.
Rooms and facilities could be better, no easy way yo have window opening for fresh air during night. Breakfast a bit on the "sweet" side.
The location was superb, food delicious, and the staff very welcoming. The Inn was very comfortable for our 2 day stay. The free parking was appreciated as well.
Close to Queen St. Separate entrance for Hughes room. Friendliness of staff. Comfort of bed.
Breakfast food was not unique or special. Bathroom had no counter or clothes hooks. Room was very pricey.
The location is ideal. The rooms are sunny and bright. There is a nice place to sit outside and have a glass of wine before dinner or theater.
I would have liked more fresh fruit in season at breakfast and an unflavored coffee option.
1. Location 2. Suite as we had use of the back yard and was nice sitting out there in morning 3. Ability to have four of us in a suite
1. Breakfast was ok - not as great as other B & Bs I have stayed in 2. Room was not cleaned when they said it would be 3. Once room was cleaned - they did not clean out the coffee pot from the morning nor did they empty the waste paper baskets 4. Did not replace washcloths or towels in the other small bathroom that we could use outside of the suite
So very welcoming. Food was delicious and good a variety. Perfect location. So nice to be able to leave car parked and be able to walk everywhere downtown. Very quiet neighbourhood so very peaceful to sleep.
Burke House is a treasure, nestled in a quiet but convenient location close to the downtown area. The rooms were lovely and the staff friendly. We especially enjoyed the ambiance at breakfast with fellow guests and Barbara, our exuberant inn-keeper.
The location was perfect for a trip to the Shaw Festival. The house was very well kept, very clean, the facilities were good. The lady on staff who made breakfast was very, very nice and helpful in providing information about the area. The breakfast was good and there was plenty to eat. The operators were very receptive for a late check out, which was much appreciated. Overall, we definitely would consider staying again.
Please consider this more as suggestions for improvement than criticism. The room was a bit stuffy and could have benefited from a ceiling and/or floor fan or the ability to open windows. I would not call Burke House a traditional B&B since there was no staff except for the very nice lady who came in to make breakfast. She was great, but for those who prefer B&B operators on hand to answer questions, etc., that's not a strength.
Mr. Hughes suite has three beds and a private entrance with access to the back patio and garden. Perfect fo a group of friends on a holiday!
Location, charm, staff, large room
Breakfasts were not great. I expected things like pastries, fresh seasonal local fruit, afternoon tea/snacks. Instead, we got soggy waffles, hard eggs, frozen potatoes, melon and banana. Food doesn't have to be expensive to be good--just fresh.
Loved the location. Owners were very welcoming. A great bed and very clean room. Delicious breakfast.
excellent hospitality. We arrived late around 10 pm, had slight problem unlocking door, Charlie came to the rescue and apologized. We had the 'Abigail' room and it was quite comfortable. We booked for 2 nights and the breakfasts were amazing. Barbara provided places to dine and wineries to visit. she had coupons. we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary & we discovered another couple was celebrating their 30th anniversary. The location of Burkes House was within walking distance of downtown. Definitely recommended.
as we had difficulty operating the entry system, an improved lighted 'lock' panel would be good.
Location above all. We could walk everywhere. room and bath were fine, food very adequate, and other guests interesting and friendly.
The steep stairs were a bit of a problem for my husband.
Owner & Mary who cooked breakfast very friendly. Good Parking facility
Difficult to work tv. No instructions Had 4 remote controls all different for the tv in the room
We stayed three nights and were never greeted by anyone! The owners were nowhere to be seen. The breakfast was terrible (e.g., cold waffles with stone-cold syrup) and the person who prepared it was surly and unhelpful. A request for a softer pillow (addressed to the cook because no one else was there) was dismissed with a that's-all-we-have shrug. The facility was clean but sadly in need of updating.
