We were really impressed with the Old house that made up the front of the hotel, the quality design, look and fixtures inside the hotel. We loved the business center. The couple things that we didn't have were provided to us. There was nothing else we expected from our hotel that was lacking! We were super impressed with two things! 1. We were given a king room, when we booked the queen. Very decent and human of the staff. 2. We we allowed to extend our stay at the same rate, even though is had gone up by some $25 on booking.com. These are those extra little things that really make you happy with the hotel you have chosen to stay at. Keep on truckin. Breakfast could be better. That had a very nice selection of basics, but the eggs could be warm, the cereal could be better, the waffles could not be of the lowest quality etc. Fresh fruit meant apples, although fruit in this way is singular it usually is thought to be plural. I ate happy don't get me wrong, but there is room for improvement. The main complaint is the heating of the building. As far as we could tell the only way to heat the room was through the personal heater. There are several problems: it would overheat the room if left on and be very noisy, but left off you are frozen when you wake up. Maybe a quieter model with a thermostat? Finally, it also could have been sealed into the wall properly! I know this is a common hotel problem but there is room for improvement.

The Clarion was a charming old hotel, with preservation of the historical aspects of the mansion it formerly was. Stained glass, heavy wood, all create a nice atmosphere amidst the busy city. Much prefer to a sterile "business" hotel. The WiFI worked fine, and it was about a 35 minute walk to our destination daily at University of Toronto...through some really nice neighborhoods and Queens Park. The location was ok and the price was right. It is a bit shopworn, but still very accomodating. The desk persons were all very helpful and friendly, and we had no hassles. And it is only one block from the Sherbourne subway entry, from which you can easily get all over Toronto. The continental breakfast was too "same", and very limited. The room we had was ok for one person, but not for two, for the stay of two weeks. The room had bascially one small wardrobe and one small desk, only one comfortable chair. If staying again with my wife I would request larger room. Also, there is no food sevice and no bar except for the breakfast, and there is no convenient bar close at hand. There was a small bar/restaurant across the street but it looked a bit dicey. The Clarion is in a curious location just at edge between very high priced stores on Bloor Street and a seedy area down Sherbourne Ave. But on balance it was ok for our needs and stay. Just bring your own beer or wine

The location is very convenient. The hotel is clean and staff are nice, the breakfast is a modest buffet served in a lovely bright dining room. It was also a very quiet place. The room we had was small and dark.

My executive king bed room was great, with nice walk in shower, steps to subway station, daily breakfast (though needs vriety), helpful and friendly staff, everything is in reach : shoppers, Nofrill supermarkets, pharmacy, small restaurants, steps away from bloor street, free wifi at all areas and wired Internet desktop at lobby with copy machine, has drinks and snack vending machine at the basement with coin laundry, I didn't know that the sherbourne street is not nice neighborhood until I got there ( it is considered unsafe ), no fridge, no safe box in the room( but u can use the reception safe box), housekeeping don't clean properly especially the bathrooms.

Excellent price. It's not luxury but I don't know why it should be 2 star. I would rate it as a good 3 star. Room was clean and stylish. Wireless internet, coffee, iron, cable tv, good heating, nice en-suite, adequate breakfast. And 10 mins from Bloor and Yonge.

Excellent location, diagonally opposite a Metro Station in central Toronto. Breakfast was very basic & virtually all pre-packaged but it was sufficient to start the day even if it wasn't particularly nutritious. The exterior of the building is quaint & that indicates the age of the hotel too. The rooms were comfortable & the wifi worked well the whole time we were there. Despite the comments included below, we felt it was quite good value for money & that the location compensated for the drawbacks. It is certainly dated & in need of a face-lift, the floors are uneven & the corridors are like a rabbit-warren. Heating & cooling was via an airconditioner in the window which in the heat of summer & the dead of winter would not be effective enough, it was quite noisy & we had to turn it off to sleep.

It was well situated, and had an old rustic feel to it. The rooms were big and tastefully decorated, and the shower was lovely! There was no central heating, so it was rather cold and took awhile for our room to heat up. And as the heater was in the bedroom part, the bathroom with it's tiled-floors was freezing cold. Finally, the blanket was also very thin, so we needed to request extras, considering the heating situation. An excellent hotel for the summer and spring seasons, but a bit on the cold side in winter.

Well the real reason I chose the Clarion was they were offering a suite with a real fireplace and that was it. Spending a romantic evening beside a roaring fire was most comforting and blissful. Rest assured I shall come back sometime soon.

We stayed in one of the renovated rooms which was really nice. The room was a little cold on arrival but it was equipped with a small heater that worked very quickly. The hotel itself is definitely different than most others that I have stayed in. It's small and actually very unique looking. The stay included breakfast, which consisted of toast, english muffins, biscuits, fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, juice basically a good amount of food! Also the staff was extremely helpful. The only negative things that I can say is that some parts of the hallways smelled a little strange but but our room didn't so it wasn't much of a problem. Also, the fitness room is very basic so I'm not sure I would recommend this hotel if you are very intent on using the fitness room.

The renovated rooms are good when the sale is on. The regular price does not make sense at all. The location was very convenient. Breakfast is good when you stay just for one night. When it gets a bit longer there are not many choice.
