Close walking distance to restaurants Quiet neighbourhood Seemed like a safe area
Uncomfortable pillows Poor air circulation Average breakfast, only 1 day other than serve yourself on the other day Very motel like feeling
Were able to upgrade to bigger, much better room, for more money. But it was worth it - first room was much too small.
Breakfast was scrambled eggs and undercooked bacon
Excellent location, great facility and outstanding room (Rose Suite). Pleasant, hard-working, eager-to-please owners. Good parking.
Breakfast could be vastly improved, for a facility of this caliber - better coffee, additional, better food options . Also, there were some quality control details missing or with issues - limited pillows, hair dryer problem, low hand lotion, limited hand soap.
Very convenient to all of Vancouver. Able to park on street without problem.
The dining room tablecloth filthy. Same cloth. Really need some soundproofing. Never fresh made coffee in am. No heat at all in bedroom accomm. Felt grimy. Sign says room cleaned everyday. Dirty cups, plates, glasses left on dresser. Took them up ourselves. Replaced one towel.
Julia is a wonderful employee/owner! The room was cozy and clean. the house was very quiet and inviting. the location was perfect! walking distance to restaurants (Vij's/rangoli... incredible Indian food) and shopping! easy public transit stops as well! very happy! will stay again!
The inn is in an excellent location for walking to UBC and dowtown activitues. Julia, the innkeeper, was very friendly and able to assist with options for using the public transportation. The beds are comfortable. We were able to leave our luggage after check out time and pick it up later.
The room was very clean, but a bit cramped. The breakfast was somewhat disorganized, because it was not clear that we were making our own and serving ourselves except for eggs.
Very friendly hosts. Had to change my booking last minute and they totally accommodated me. Huge room. Comfy bed. Was all good.
The owner, Julia, could not have been more accommodating. She went well beyond what you might expect from acting on a special request after booking to locating a doctor. The fact English is not her first language may help explain some of the issues that surfaced in other reviews but, in person, you could not ask for a more gracious hostess.
Virtually nothing. Three blocks from the bus line and restaurants, no need for a car!
Julia is very nice and enthusiastic. 8:30-10:30 every morning is breakfast time.Bread, milk, juice, coffee, bacon, fried egg, sausages and cereal. Although we live semi-underground,the washroom is really big with two hair driers.Wifi is pretty good. The surroundings is safe and quiet.Bus stop is within 5-minutes walk. Julia even helped us find a tour guide who took us to whistler for a one-day-tour since nobody of us three can drive. Last of all,I changed my reservation on booking for over 10 times but they don't get inpatient and let us store our luggage there for free when we are out for Victoria, which I appreciated a lot.
If you use the toaster and the microwave oven, the dining room will go through a power failure. You'll be more unfortunate if it's before 8:30 because maybe you'll have to eat cold bread or cold milk before Julia comes to deal with it. But what I feel saddest about Camilla house is that the fare is really expensive. The fare is close to, even more than the downtown hotels with 3 stars or more, although Julia is very very very nice.We met many other guests here and it seems that they don't have to care about money. But booking is for tourists. We are students on brief junkets which lasts only several days.Next time I come to Vancouver,I'll turn to my friends here to help me find cheap and fine hotels or inns rather than use booking.com.
We enjoyed the little garden in front of the house, it was very pleasant to have our morning coffee there. The house lady was nice too.
The walls are really thin there so if you have a neighbour next door who is snoring, like we had, it can be disturbing at night.
Julia was a wonderful host and gave us a lot of good information about how to get to places in Vancouver. The room was very comfortable and the grounds were perfect for some reading and relaxing, It was a great 2 day stay
The coffeemaker took too long to finish brewing. That's the only thing I'd change
It's a lovely place with great decor and looks very clean. The hostess was very nice. Great location, parking was good. Beautiful neighborhood and great to walk around in.
I'm allergic to fleas and other people may not notice, but my room had them and I had them all over me the next morning as well as not sleeping. I also had to take my shoes off to carry my luggage upstairs - very inconvenient. She was going to leave me some eggs in the morning as I'm diabetic and must have protein with my meals.
location and owner's service
thought it was a little bit expensive considering the entire aspects of it. but it is not bad for short trippers
Friendless of the hosts
Not being able to stay longer
Location. Quiet. Friendly.
Needs additional pillows.
The owner was very pleasant and wanted to please. The house was lovely and the room was fine.
The breakfast was very basic and there were no gluten-free options. We didn't stay for the breakfast on the last day out of sheer boredom with the offerings. The coffee was terrible and there was no kettle to boil water for tea in the evening. The location was not good; it was inconvenient; cabs were necessary.
Clean and nice
Not enough pillows
Cosy environment and well-located with friendly proprietor.
The location is very quiet, in a nice parts of the city with many gardens and parks. It takes around 30 minutes to get to the city centre by bus. The bus stop is 10 minutes walking distance. The house is nice and clean.
Breakfast is served only after 8.30. We were there for work and we needed to go out early, and the owner just once proposed to anticipate (but not before 8.15!!!) so we could not make it except on the last day. However, most of the guests wake up early as well, so the most of us simply cooked breakfast by themselves. The fridge was not very rich, in any case. Sometimes the milk was over. When I made the reservation I asked for an additional bed for my child, and they answered there was no problem. But when we arrived she suggested that my daughter could sleep in our bed because "it is king size". However she is 9 and we insisted for an additional bed. We were given a kind of upholstery for sofa and a blanket to be laid on the floor! For 20 dollars per night!!! (actually at first she asked 30 dollars per night, but after seeing our expressions she lowered down the price...)! Finally, we asked for separate receipts and she did the calculations in a hurry (adding taxes and subtracting the deposit). The amount made sense overall so we trusted her, but now we discover she (probably by mistake) overcharged 9 dollars each! I would not recommend this place, sorry.
Julia was friendly and very helpful, we didn't meet Ray. They upgraded us to a room with a larger bed, which was very nice. The house was cleanble and comforta. Breakfast was ok, nothing special.
The room was very hot due to the weather, and there was no air conditioner, but they did have a fan in the room. Plus the child in the room next door put the heat on. They did not have decaffeinated coffee.
Good location Very clean and comfortable Friendly host
Nice place, and host
Good location, quiet neighborhood
This private house owner lives on site and watches everybody's moves. Has own rules that are not listed anywhere and you find out about them when you arrive, which is too late to get a refund if you don't agree. You want to cut the staying short, there is no refund for the remaining period. YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF FOR THE ENTIRE STAYING! Either you like it or not, you cannot talk or laugh unless you're "muffled". Coming home late? Walk on your toes, don't make a sound, go to your room. Can't use the back yard where there is shade, as she won't let you. Breakfast is always the same, sometimes with leftover from yesterday or older. The butter in the fridge is there for months.Be careful and smell the milk before you drink it. You put drinks in the "common" fridge and next day they're gone without a note or a "thanks". The breakfast table won't fit more than 8-10 people in the living room but she has approx. 8 rooms for rent. It gets really crowded and food is not quite enough, as she will take 10-15 minutes to cook if you want something that is out. By that time you're full with other things. One type of coffee, just sugar cubes, no alternatives. It's like take it or leave it. For $1250 for 3 nights in two rooms, this is unacceptable. Will never return there.
