oh my god...while apparently a 'no smoking' policy is in effect at the motel, my unit - 113 - smelled like an old ashtray that had not been emptied forever. the smell of the stale smoke was not only sickening, but invasive as well. it was such that i was concerned the clothes i would wear the following morning would be permeated with the overwhelming stench. i did not ask for another room as i had already been moved from the 2nd [physical difficulties] to the only room available on the 1st. apparently a 'king' to 'queen'. interestingly, the young men, when coming to check the t.v., did not comment on the stench, nor did i point it out to them given i just wanted to 'go to bed' as a result of an already long day.
again, the young men at the front desk went out of their way to ensure things were well and I was comfortable, had no difficulty in coming to the unit and looking at the t.v. when I could not get it to work, ensuring my insanely early wake up calls and taxi call were attended to - i was worried about missing the 6:30 a.m. via rail departure to edmonton - all for not, thank you so very much.
