The setting was beautiful. The dining room was cozy with wonderful food. We heard a fiddler in the living room that was amazing! The owner was very personable and he gave us some great ideas for a day of sightseeing. If we were to go back that way we would definitely stay there again.
Our cabin had a leak under the bathroom sink but the staff was quick to take care of it.
The quiet and lovely scenery plus the pleasant cabin
Very nice and cozy cabin. The cabin was very clean also. We also enjoyed having the fireplace. Very quiet surroundings. The place is pet friendly.
The wifi quality was inconsistent
Best French toast ever.
The cabin was definitely rustic. Very clean and comfortable. I loved the porch area with the swing bench and table. Excellent place for reading, writing or soul searching. I loved the quietness of the place. Very peaceful. The kids loved the horses, the donkey and the friendly cats. Let's not forget "The Barn". Live entertainment playing traditional East Coast music. It was only a one night stay..........we needed a couple of days there. Great location to stay if you are exploring the Cabot Trail.
we all had a great time. The Barn was great and I think that was the highlight. It was my first time, but it won't be my last. I don't know what took me so long.
The fact that we could only stay one night
Fair bit of room in the 2 bedroom cabin Nice to visit the horses & cats wandering around. Saw many people enjoying the local fiddlers in the evening.
They are a bit run down.
Quiet and beautiful surroundings, friendly and helpful reception
I had to make coffee in the bathroom because the cable was too short to plug into the outlet. The restaurant was a disappointment because service was slow and inadequate and the food was rather tasteless and the promised peppersauce was missing entirely.
Pleasant accommodating staff. Roomy cabin. Evening entertainment. Full kitchen in our cabin.
The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, comfortable and friendly great people are planning on a repeat trip later will stay here again
It was quaint. We had requested a 1-bedroom cottage with 2 queen beds. Upon our arrival, they told us that we would not be getting the cottage, that instead they will be putting us in 2 rooms in the hotel. We said NO, and then they put us in a 2-bedroom cottage with 2 full size beds and a sofa sleeper. Floors were not level, but that's the CHARM of staying in a cottage. No TV, but did have WiFi and a radio. :)
Staff was young and inexperienced. Found it curious that this loding goes by a different name... Normaway Inn. We requested bikes with our Booking.com reservation, the day before our arrival we sent an email requesting bikes, when we arrived we again asked for bikes. We never saw bikes and so never got to see the country side as we had hoped. We made reservations for dinner, which never happened because of a power outage. Instead we drove to Marjoree Harbor where we found a place to eat.
I loved the surroundings, the resident white cat and the staff.
I would have liked to know up front that there was no TV in the room and that cell service was not available ahead of time. I would have still stayed but would have brought a good book and let my husband know that he couldn't get hold of me ahead of time.
Absolutely loved our visit there we even stayed an extra day, will definately be back next year
We spent four nights here while exploring the Cabot Trail. The Inn was a little off the beaten path, but the beautiful setting was worth it in my opinion. We stayed in the first set of green cabins (#23). While it was a little dated, It was very roomy, and clean. Their was a screened-in porch on the front. There was no TV (we knew and did not care), and no A/C. It was a bit hot and humid on two of the nights, but there was a large fan in the room which kept things cool, and sleeping was not a problem. We did notice some of the green cabins did have A/C, so if that is important to you, I am sure you could ask for it. I suspect the Wi-Fi was satellite, and it was spotty. Some days it was very fast, and other times it was so slow it was unusable. We found the food in the restaurant to be very good. I thought the price was reasonable for the quality of food, and the price was comparable to a couple of other places we ate that had the same types of menus. We did not make it to the barn dance on Weds night, but they also had music in the Inn's living room almost every night which was nice. Overall I enjoyed the stay here and would certainly stay there again.
The Wi-Fi being so unreliable. It worked well about half the time we were there.
Great food in a remote place.
Rustic setting Caleigh on the premises Very friendly staff Clean Felt like a cabin at summer camp
Torn screens Insufficient lighting Bad tasting water Sofa bed mattress discolored and crummy looking and uncomfortable Felt like a cabin at a summer camp
The place has a congenial "camp" feel. I loved sitting in the commons area after a delicious (and Healthy!) dinner with other guests. A local fiddler entertained us with stories and Cape Breton tunes. Before dinner, we wanted to do a bit of "birding" around the site. The owner was quite knowledgeable about trails we could take.
The cabin, albeit well equipped, was pretty primitive. As my companion stated...."it beats a tent". If visitors have high standards for their sleeping accommodations, they may be unhappy with the rough and basic cabins. We were ok. It was clean enough and we slept well.
The grounds were amazing. It was very quiet there. The staff were very friendly. They overbooked my room but were so apologetic. They sorted everything out quickly. It worked out to be better than my original booking.
I asked for some help setting up their propane bug lights, they said they would send someone down. We ended up spending the entire evening indoors, no one came. It's really far away from most ammenities. They also advertise satilitte, ac, and bar-b-ques. There are a couple cabins with tv. There are a couple cabins with ac and i didnt see a single bar-b-que. We had to go buy our own.
