Short on nearby resturant options
It was relatively good value for money and centrally located.
Reception was odd. Wanted to get into our car to show us the garage because they didn't have a map. Then, when we refused, they produced a map. There is cheaper public parking or on street until 9:00 available, so don't get ripped off. Also after our stay, we got warnings from Microsoft that there had been attempts to hack into our computers from the hotel IP address. Even if this is not the proprietor's fault, this is a red flag for me.
Location was a 2 minute walk from the Main Street of downtown and a 10-15 minute walk to the Bell Center. the room was very spacious and had a feel of an apartment more than a hotel room. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Parking is a bit of a walk (5 minutes) but is in a secure underground lot. It is located behind the hotel but the great one way streets of Montreal make you go around to access it. Overall, it lived up to the 4 star rating but had more of a B&B feel which was better for a longer stay. We would definitely recommend this and go back
the unusual nature of the place
the carpet going up was dusty, some details were unfinished (boards next to the tub). The balcony had lots of clutter on it. Felt a bit fooled, but place has enough beautiful details to compensate.
The location was good and the gentleman who tried to help us with our complaints was lovely.
Very bad experience. Paid so much for this apartment and it was horrible. Had to wait on the street for almost an hour in minis 12 to check in. Room was dirty looked like not vacuumed. Microwave full of exploded food. Toilet did not flush and had sign next it saying do not flush toilet paper! Shower was blocked and filled up with water when tried to shower. Fridge leaked all over floor. The bed was a hazard, bits of broken timber poking out, and base was supported by 1 wooden post. Fridge held up in stair well by a single stick and almost fell. Could go on all day. This is definitely not a boutique hotel. Never again.
Free Wifi! Great location, close to Saint-Catherine and shopping, nightlife etc. We were given a $50 refund for our inconveniences...
I am celiac, and cannot have gluten or dairy. I requested GF and DF options in SEPTEMBER for our DECEMBER travel. It was confirmed IN SEPTEMBER I would have options. I was offered 1% skim milk and yoghurt, and regular cereal. We had to complain to get GF anything brought on our last day of stay. They then charged my credit card a sum that reflected a refund for the inconvenience... I was obviously mad, as I had ALREADY PAID IN SEPTEMBER IN FULL... now I paid twice. So I had to have them issue a refund for the double payment. They insisted that booking.com does not inform them when clients pay online. But I pulled up my bank statement listing Chateau Saint Marc as the payment NOT booking.com. We shall see what happens. They have issued a refund for the full amount they took wrongly, and for $50 refund for the inconvenience... I am still unimpressed.
I liked that it was a small hotel in an old house. The rooms were all different and very nicely decorated. I had a spa room and the bathroom was really nice...big Jacuzzi tub and glassed in shower. They had a buffet, continental breakfast set up in a cute kitchen on the second floor. Guests can help themselves to cereal, croissants, toast, yogurt, coffee, tea. I also liked the price...very good value.
I didn't like the stairs that I had to climb with my somewhat heavy suitcase. However, someone was waiting for me at the door and helped to carry to my bag up to my room. I wasn't sure if I liked the set-up as a hotel to stay in for business trips. However, as I became familiar with the set-up, I think it would work just fine. I also think it would be a perfect place to go for a romantic weekend in Montreal.
Proximity to down town. Friendly staff
Very cluttered and disorganised place. We had a 2 bedroom suite but the rooms were only separated with curtains. The main bed room was full of "junks" - free standing bar fridge in front of a heat, free standing air cooler. The TV and other electrical appliances were connected with power boards lying everywhere (close to the curtains) which could be a fire hazard. We were unable to open any windows because of old furnitures were blocking the screens. There is a fire escape between the two rooms which was blocked outside by old furnitures. The spiral staircases to the upper floors were very narrow. Breakfast was included with cold eggs and cereals - no meat. There is supposed to be an exercise room with an exercise bike only and the room had to be tidied before it could be used.
We were early but they had our room ready.I would like to mention Abul who went far and above what he had to do for us,A beautiful man.The room was spotless and very quiet!
Fantastic location Quirky style Friendliness of owner Great outdoor balcony space Walking distance to great restaurants
We absolutaly loved this hotel. It was comfortable, beautiful and quiet. We slept really great, we felt like home. Definitely will come back to this hotel next time we come to Montreal.
decoration is special and perfect
breakfast is basic and not changable, everyday is same. wifi sometimes disconnected for the first floor rooms.
location parking window facing the inside of the block, no view barking dog poor installation of cables bed with broken parts not worth the money
Quiet, boutique like, out of the way, friendly staff, good continental breakfast
Room a little cluttered, tooo many TV controls, just a bit tacky.
Huge bath towels, very luxurious.
We both loved everything about the hotel. Staff was extremely friendly. The room very clean everything to our liking
The breakfast could have had a bit more very basic but the hotel is perfectly placed for breakfast places. Just around the corner of many restaurants.
Room and furnishings. Comfy bed. Awesome marble-tiled bathroom with a great shower. Included continental breakfast. Staff was always very helpful and polite. Within a short walk from two subway stations.
Dangerous carpeting on the stairs. Spa bath was not included with the room price. Another $25 to use it per night.
Hotel has not finished its construction. Our room was not fully terminated, as the bathroom door was not installed, as well as the hot tub.
Super friendly, polite, accommodating staff; lovely decor, love the skylights, extra nice touch with having the lights on and soothing music playing in your room when you return in the evenings; felt very safe and secure; excellent location, very walkable to downtown/the metro, parking available around back; complimentary breakfast had plenty of options; WiFi was decently fast & easy to use
Wasn't told ahead of time that parking in the garage was $15/day, or that the spa tub in our bathroom was an additional $25/day to use, but they were nice and gave us a discount on the spa, and they were very accommodating anyway, so I'd still recommend them.
Lovely place just off the busy area but close enough to the Metro and Bixi to get around easily. The rooms are spectacular and worth the visit to Montreal alone.
Not really in "Old Montreal" as I was expecting... It was a good walk to get there. Very good place our hotel was just the same.
Distance to the REAL Old Montreal.
Too much furniture and other things in the lounge and around the staircase.Main stairs have steps covered with additional carpet and plastic on top which is not safe and is also ugly. and
Very beautiful and comfortable room. Very good value for last-minute deal.
Excellent location, very friendly and attentive staff.
The hotel is small and seemed a bit cramped. However, this did not affect our enjoyment in any way. Would recommend this hotel to friends.
