Although the employee was passably courteous, the owner was downright rude, giving curt answers bordering on sarcastic. I was given the room on the main floor, where I could hear the party going on until nearly midnight, and then the kitchen noises early in the morning.
The internet was spotty at best. I overheard another guest ask about it, and told that there was no problem with the internet. As I walked out the door, there was cable zigzagging the grounds as they were obviously working on it.
The TV had only one channel, which I was told very curtly. I felt as though a schoolmistress had reprimanded me for asking.
When I returned home, a week later, and discovered that my favorite shirt was missing, I called the Gite. They informed me that they throw everything away in 5 days and hung up promptly. They don't email, or call.
I was prepared for the famed Quebecois attitude, even being French, but I had not expected this level of rudeness and insensitivity.
At first appearance, it seemed like a charming, well maintained retreat. The breakfast was good, even if it was near impossible to have ones coffee cup refilled.
