location and a friendly staff
Location, outside architecture, helpful concierge.
Rundown state of accommodations, Lack of service. Abrupt morning reception clerk. Price performance.
The ambiance The decor The location friendly staff
Nothing we didn't like but a little pricey in our opinion.
Very well located. Polite and courteous staff. Clean and comfortable
A cost for parking although the room is already quite expensive.
location was definitely the best thing about hotel
rooms were the size of closets way overpriced
From the moment we got to the front of the hotel, we knew we made the right choice. The valet parking guys, every one of them were great. The location perfect, the receptionist were so Charmin and curteous, rooms ready, very clean, NOTN one complain, take from a Virgo.... if we ever get back to Quebec, with no hesitation we will chose Clarendon. Thanks to all those who made our 6 days in that beautiful city, the perfect one.
Friendly noligible staff.
Great location. Spent 2 nights here. Room was modern and quite roomy for an old hotel. Beds were comfortable. It poured rain one day and the concierge lent us umbrellas for the day. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!
Walking distance of all old Qc activities/shopping, etc...
The location was perfect.
Water was leaking from the ceiling. When I told the staff that I wanted another room, I was told that there were no other rooms available. After expressing my displeasure in the lobby, another room was found. We were not comped at all for our trouble.
Great location. Very close to historic, downtown Quebec and short walk to the Old Port Market. Hotel was regal and the rooms were clean and good size.
Wish we would have stayed a few more days and had time to take in what the hotel had to offer in terms of dining and entertainment. We weren't aware if it and already had our days planned.
The location in the heart of the old, upper town, could not be bettered, and the price is very reasonable. The staff were very helpful, especially when we had to cancel the second night's stay.
Accepting that the hotel is a historic building, it could do with some sprucing up.
Location Room very comfortable
1-There was't a frigobar in the room. 2- The breakfast on tuesday was a buffet and was excellent, but in the following days the guest had to choose among three poor options. It was very disappointing.
Couldn't ask for better location - walking distance to shops, restaurants and funiculaire. Staff we're friendly and helpful. Atmosphere and charm lived up to our expectations.
The beds were really uncomfortable and rooms were on the small side. Also no fridge.
very charming - great location
room was very small with no desk
I have stayed in more than 15 hotels in North America over the last six months and I can confidently say that this is by far the worst that I have seen. Everything is overused and not working properly, from the coffee machine to the bathroom lights to the tub drain !! The sink is not draining properly, the room's door is not closing properly, the bathroom door does not close at all and even the tv remote is not working except from a feet. Apparently, this hotel is taking pride in being old!!! But as far as I know being old should not mean being unsuitable for use and Ill maintained. Moreover the hotel does not provide accessibility for wheel chairs or baby strollers, so if you are travelling with your children be prepared to carry them and their strollers up and down the stairs. IAlso aside from the unmaintained room, the room size is extremely small and the room does not have a fridge or a microwave; the funny thing here is that they are saying that they are not putting them in the room because of the environment, but if you are willing to pay a $15 dollar fee they will gladly not care about the environment any more and get you a fridge in the room!!! When was having a fridge for $15 dollar an environmental friendly policy!!! Of course in the morning when I had to buy milk for my daughter from the room service for 8$ a cup, that is what they think is environmental friendly!! The bottom line is that this hotel was trying to rip you off for any money they can get from you .... Evidently not worse of even a two and half star rating. Also half the power outlets in the room are not working. The maintaince man came to fix the coffee machine and spent about 5 minutes trying to figure out which of the outlet or the machine is not working, and it is not a switch controlled outlet. Thé réception line for checking in and out was consistently long.
Close to all tours, restaurants, museums, shows,Chateau Frontenac and all monuments. Value for the money. Good breakfast included with room. Staff very helpful and understanding.
Rooms are small, windows cannot be opened
Closeness to old Quebec and center town. Lovely building and decor. Staff were very helpfull
Parking rates I found high.
Only thing going forbthis hotel is location.
It took a long time to check in and check out. Concierge was not helpful at all. He flatly told me to come back after 20 mins as he had lot to takd care of. Room was small, even the room in european hotels were bigger than this hotel. House keeping was not good either. I will not stay there again
We loved every minute of our fabulous stay at the Hotel Clarendon. From check-in to check-out, we were treated royally by the wonderful staff. The hotel is beautiful and exquisitely furnished. The location is superb. We had a great meal there as well. One of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. Our group included myself, husband, 9-year-old son and my mother-in-law -- all of us thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful hotel!
Excellent location, cleanliness, service. Music show in bar (called "jazz," actually more like hotel cabaret) at minimum cover charge also a plus.
nothing (note: our room was upgraded, so we didnt see "regular" room)
Location was great. Staff were nice. Wifi was very good.
We booked Executive King rooms which are apparently middle grade. Rooms were very small but adequate, however, beds are harder than the floor. We asked if there were rooms with more comfortable beds. We're told at first that rooms were newly done and the "beds just needed to be broken in". We then asked about the cancellation policy (we were staying 4 nights). We're told they were unsure because we booked through Booking.com but most likely had to pay for all 4 nights. They let is see the rooms the next grade up. Much larger of course but the beds were wonderful. We upgraded for an extra $200.00 for the stay. If you can afford the higher priced rooms it is a very nice place to stay. However, if not, I would shop around.
Luckily we were able to upgrade our rooms. The new room was excellent, quiet, large and very comfortable bed. Top floor (7th) has only 3 rooms. Looks like 5th, 6th and 7th floors are refurbished.
Reserved 2 rooms with king beds, they were on 2nd and 3rd floors. Rooms were small but fine, beds were hardest beds ive ever experienced. They seemed surprised, or maybe it was embarrassment, but did offer us new rooms (added cost of $50 per room perday.) It was so worth it. 4 nights of comfort!
