Easy to walk from Old Town to New Town (30 min) There are city buses but I have no experience
Many lakes to walk on, Ice cave to visit.
Prince of Wales Regional Museum worth a trip - much to see
Plan for Snowking Festival in March
Avoid Northern Light Tour company
Surprisingly, the grocery stores offered the same prices as Vancouver, and the restaurants weren't much more expensive than home.

Yellowknife is a remote location.
Yellowknife is a remote location. So you expect expensive food and accommodation, but we were disappointed to find lack-luster service. If you are looking for reasonably nice accommodations, expect to pay north of $300per night. Booking anything cheaper will disappoint.
The scenery, of course is one of a kind amazing! Just don't get your expectations too high when it comes to service.

We stayed at Yellowknife B&B and used Aurora Village for our tours. We highly recommend both of these to anyone traveling here!!
We cooked our meals (saved a ton of time and money) and had 1 stop shopping with our tours. This was a trip of a lifetime and we enjoyed every minute!

It’s so beautiful. Everyone is nice and friendly.
It’s so beautiful. Everyone is nice and friendly. We highly recommend the Bullock bistro. Food is so yummy. We also join the Artic Tour Canada for aurora hunting. The tour guid is professional and we really saw the aurora.
We stayed 5 nights and everything is more than perfect.
#The room
- is cozy, clean and bed is soft enough. The temperature is warm enough, we could get hot water immediately.
#The host
- is so thoughtful and kind. The room was already perfect, but became more than perfect after he fixed some items.
#Aurora spot
The house is quite far from the city lights, it means we can (sometimes) watch the aurora at home! Attached timelapse-captured photo is taken at the backyard of the house, focusing the lake and the hotel beyond.
We went to Yellowknife to see the Aurora Borealis and ohhh boy, Mabuhay Lakeside Manor has the best location ever! The Borealis was visible from our window. Saving us time and money as we didn’t need to pay for a tour guide to look for the Borealis. Not to mention that the property, which is just a 10-minute walk away from the city center, it also has the best host/owner. Ms. Delilah served us delicious breakfasts during our stay and went out of her way to make our visit truly exceptional.
The host was so kind and accommodating. The breakfast was absolutely amazing, kept us full for most of the day!
The location is also great with easy access to all of Yellowknife, but also right on the lake. Our host let us use the canoe free of charge, paddling around the lake from the manor was the highlight of our trip!
10/10 would reccomend Mabuhay lakeside manor to anyone. We will come again.
What a lovely place! First, John was very helpful and responsive when I had a couple of questions. The place itself is quiet and comfortable. And the view...wow. It was so nice to walk outside my room, take my coffee and sit on the dock first thing in the morning. I'll be travelling to Yellowknife often for business and I will look here first from now on!
The best thing about this hotel was the front desk staff Tristan and the downtown location of the property. The price was far less than the other hotels but it becomes very apparent why that is the case once the security staff comes on and it seems to be a war-zone. The breakfast was passable and the breakfast staff was friendly.
On the only main street of Yellowknife, the Franklin Ave, close to the entrance of Yellowknife, the Ingraham Trail for hunting the lights, visitor center, city hall, museum and legislative assembly, old town, the popular bistro for local fish, the ice road, etc. The room was spacious, clean and relatively quiet.
A better than adequate place to stay in a town without many other choices. Comfortable, decent bar and restaurant and helpful staff. Let's be honest, you don't come to Yellowknife to stay in your hotel room. It was a welcome bonus to have a nice one when we needed it.
It was the best place I have ever stayed during traveling. Near the lake. Hiking trail. Nice dog and cats. Beautiful breakfast. The most impressive thing is the living room. I very enjoyed here and the most beautiful memory is in Yellowknife.
If you wanna see the northern lights this is an excellent location to stay. We saw the northern lights in front of this cabin on the last day night. You can't have this experience if you stay in the hotel.
Rosa is the best!! She provided everything we needed and made us feel at home! The location of the Bed and Breakfast is perfect. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it!
Clean, thermostat worked, bathroom well stocked. Restaurant was wonderful, we had dinner and breakfast. They were able to accommodate my husbands dietary needs. Friendly staff.
Quite,clean,respectful,like being home
Never lost a night of sleep
Will highly recommend YK Aurora to family and friends
Who travel to Yellowknife for business or travel
Fantastic host -- friendly, attentive, and informative. Knowledgeable about tourism. The house had everything needed and was a wonderful home for 4 nights. Flexible host!
It's a good place to see the amazing Aurora. John is so kind and friendly, he informed us the information about Aurora by text. We had a good time in Yellowknife.
Beyond the cleanliness and the availability of the facilities, Jenny and the home caretaker provided me the best service by booking last minute tours for me.
