Unfortunately, we stayed in a non-smoking section of the hotel, but the smell of cigarettes, poorly masked by toxic chemicals, was palpable. In fact we spent the better part of the night hacking and coughing... not great when you're getting up at 5 AM, which many travellers in a highway-side hotel will be.
Hotel is run down; initial impressions are that it's a dive, dirty and lacking basic functions like elevators. But, hey, you're saving money, right? Wrong. Not worth the savings when there's a much better Quality Inn next door charging a nominal $12 extra per night.
Good location, a short walk to a bus stop and then the metro into town, takes about 45 minutes and costs $5. If not interested in going into Montreal proper, there are a lot of shopping and restaurant locations nearby if you have a vehicle (which you do, if you're staying here, I assume).
Wi-Fi, TV, etc., all acceptable.
Water pressure in shower was good and temperature, too.
