The manager Tahir was excellent, he was very friendly and helpful. On arrival he gave me some basic info and directions, when there was a slight problem with the lock on my bedroom door he fixed it straight away. The guest house and the rooms were very clean, the bed was comfortable.
The wifi and the choice in tv channels could have been better, but if you're there to see Toronto then they don't really matter. With so many guests staying there fridge space was limited in the kitchen.
Free wifi, nice location and you are able to make your own meals in the shared kitchen
Its not a bed and breakfast. The room I was staying in was below the kitchen, any little noise could be heard louder than what is heard in the actual kitchen. Some guest refused to obey the rules, which means lack of sleep. My room was with en suite. The room was so dark, even with all lights on. Only the bathroom was well lit. During my stay, my room was never cleaned. Even though it states weekly clean. I had to purchase bathroom cleaner, as I like things clean. You have to ask for your towels to be changed.
The owner is very kind and the place is very quiet. I stayed in the 1st room on the right during 2 trips and enjoyed my stay thoroughly. The room/ washroom is both very clean.
The location is very sketchy at night time but I don't think it is dangerous. I was alone so I was quite anxious to walk home when it got dark.
the location, reasonable price
Stayed 7days.. no washing machine..
Welcoming owner, close location to Eaton Centre and Ryerson University, fast wifi, cable TV.
Gerrard street is dirty. The location was far from York University and the airport.
Nice and clean room, good location (close to public transit), no problem to leave luggage after checkout
Good location, the owner was very friendly and eager to help, you can even arrange for him to collect you. We were on the ground floor next to the front door and when we first arrived I was worried that it was going to be noisy, but it was actually ok, and we slept perfectly.
The room was too cluttered, there were too many chairs, desk etc for the size of the room and it was quite difficult to find space for two suitcase and to move around.
Extremely convenient location at edge of characterful Cabbagetown. Bikeshare bike docking station nearby, and OK public transport. Near a No Frills supermarket. Communal kitchen was maintained clean and tidy and was well-equipped. Friendly personal welcome by Tahir (though you must be there by 9 p.m. as he lives off-site - this meant I had to take a $60 taxi from the airport). Nice and quiet (I had a room at the back). Excellent wifi. Good value for money overall for my three nights there.
Bedroom window needed a wash (though I accept it's not easy to access it to clean it). My "Cleanliness" rating would have been Good, not Fair, if it had been. No smoke detector visible in my room. In Europe this would have been illegal. (There was a small fire extinguisher just outside the bedroom door, however). Mirror on wardrobe door was cracked - not unsafe, just unsightly.
Comfy guest-house is exactly what you would expect from the name. Its comfy, quiet, clean and affordable. Would definitely recommend staying here next time you are exploring Toronto :)

The place is very clean and quiet. Tahir was very nice and respectful. Would come back again if I need a place in DT Toronto.
The internet is spotty, but then again it's free so I can't complain much.
I liked the central location of the hotel, just a few minutes walk from the downtown. The kitchen was wonderful, as well as the room and bathroom, decorated in a very cozy way. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I spent a wonderful time there.
Very nice people there and you could use the kitchen to do some cook.
The hotel is not very near the bus station. That is a pity. 如果你的房间在厨房旁边会感觉房间不太隔音
Tahir very obliging and runs the guesthouse very well
The premises although clean were needing renovated the outside space on the top floor is needing totally refurbished - the bed in the suite had also seen better days - the linen was not up to the standard of what a guesthouse should have. The bathroom was very clean and very acceptable to guests.
1) Although the canadians say Cabbagetown is not a safe neighborhood, it's near to downtown. 2) The house has some old but good facilities (refrigerator, stove). 3) There is a cheap supermarket near the house, so you can safe some extra money.
1) The location was okay for me, but it is kind a creepy. There are many homeless and drug addicts in the neighborhood. 2) The shared bathroom is cleaned once a week and, in my case, the linen was changed only after 10 days. 3) The mattress was too soft (probably because it was old) and the pillow was ridiculous low. 4) You can hear your room's neighbor snoring and yelling through the thin walls. 5) You can only get a strong wifi signal if you stay in the hall, not inside the room. Besides, the internet speed is ok, but not fast. 6) After I've made my reservation in the booking.com, I discovered that the guest house has its own web site. I found out that the price for the room was $10 cheaper and I could receive 15% of discount (one month stay). So, my stay was charged overpriced ! 7) During the last days, the owner said that he would give some money back ("coffee" he said), but I have to give him an excellent review. Of course, I refused it. Sorry Tahir, I am an honest person.
Bathroom was ok. Place quiet
Dirty room, blankets look dirty and the room smell horrible. I had to get my own bed sheet and blanket cause the ones they looked like had not been washed for a while. Everything in the kitchen was old and in bad condition.
Nice house on a quiet enough street. Not right downtown but I wasn't staying out too late.
I'm glad it wasn't too hot the weekend of my stay as I feel it would have been very hot in my room
Great location for a base in Toronto, owner Tahir was very welcoming and has the house set-up with everything you could possibly need.
Price was great for a private room in downtown Toronto. Clean facilities, strict rules about being quiet as to not disturb the other guests. Very nice owner.
Close to down town. Homy style. Friendly staff. Tahir was really supportive and responsive to any request. Good value for money. Internet was good, never had a problem.
My room was just beside the shared kitchen and some guests used to speak very loudly while dining or preparing food. You need to remind them that you are there.
Very cozy and cute very nice owner and exremely clean bathrooms & facilities
Bed was comfortable Staff was friendly
Great value, comfy bed, nice area
Uncomfortable bed, not such a nice host at all.
