Crofton by the Sea Bed & Breakfast

Friendly,helpful staff. Very quiet, lovely ambience, a nice getaway.

Eve, the owner/host, is delightful. She made my stay relaxing and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious with an amazing view. My unit was entirely self-contained, which was quite nice. Crofton by the Sea is also convenient to the Cowichan Valley's wine region, and a variety of antique malls, but most importantly, it is a mere five minutes to the ferry that can take you for a day trip (or longer) on Salt Spring Island.

My trip was so highly scheduled that I didn't get to spend as much time at the B&B as I would have liked. That is my fault, and I've learned from that.

When we read the reviews by some other guests, we were initially a bit reluctant to stay there. But, the location was ideal for our plans, so we went for it. We're so glad we did!! Certainly, the hostess was great, as was our breakfast. We also enjoyed the back garden; flowers, trees and a pleasant place to relax. Lots of work keeping that in shape! Our room was clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities we'd expect. We appreciated the private ensuite bathroom. With the Summer Olympics underway, the nearly unlimited channel choice satellite TV was a bonus. Unlike a previous guest, we quite liked the handwritten labels and so on. It fit with the friendly atmosphere overall; making us feel more at home. There was indeed a blackout shade so we had no problem with light from outside. We didn't think anything was unsafe (as did an earlier guest), something which is both personally and professionally important to me.

The only thing we didn't like was not being able to stay longer. Maybe next time!

30 day cancelation policy impacted what we paid (we changed our date 2 days after booking - and they still charged us for all nights), As well breakfast wasn't available until 8:30 on week-ends - a bit late for us who wanted to get out early. A bit 'rustic' looking - sheets didnt match bedding - mason jars full of coffee/etc with handwriting for instructions...etc. Crofton is a bit off the beaten track - approx 10 min drive in from the highway - and not much in Crofton itself to see (other than the ocean).

Goed verzorgt, aardige mensen

Kamer die in eerste aanleg geboekt was was echt helemaal niets, zou feitelijk niet als zodanig verhuurd mogen worden. Laatste dagen een wat groter kamer gekregen waarvoor we wel bij moesten betalen. Het plaatsje Crofton stelt niet veel voor, maar daar kunnen deze mensen niets aan doen.

Breakfast was good. Pleasant eating area. En suite bathroom was good. Nice view from room. Close to pub restaurant. Pleasant, friendly owner hostess.

Room was cluttered. Not enough space to move around. Uncomfortable sofa only to sit on. Unsafe microwave set up w/ kettle on top (also unsafe) on table. Bed very low to ground hard to get in/out of. Very bright light on street outside room w/ no blackout curtain so bright light in room all night. Tv too small for size of room Very over priced at $130. Would not recommend it for the price charged. Old coffee from previous guest still in coffee pot. Generally lacking in standards except food was ok Room set up could be improved. Needs attention to detail
