The old log construction lodge is just down the road from the Chateau Lake Louise. The public rooms of the lodge are full of artifacts and history that make the place charming and cozy.
The room my sister and I shared was tiny with no place for our luggage. It looked out into the parking lot and was right near the stairs, which creaked with every footstep. No elevator meant we had to cart our luggage up two flights of stairs. When leaving we asked for a porter but nobody arrived. We waited ages for the breakfast we ordered and was dismal; cold poached eggs, tasting of vinegar. Fortunately our guests from England got a much better room that looked out at the mountains. Poor show!
The location. Bed was comfy.
Very noisy at night. No elevator for luggage. No TV. Bathroom really tiny. I feel bad saying negative things. It was okay. The dining room and fire were lovely. I just expected a better room for the price.
Location was very good. Hot tub was really hot.
The restaurant food was pretty average and the menu very limited. Our room was very small and the furniture was scratched . There was only one bedside table for 2 beds. The heating did not come on until late in the evening so we had to ask for a heater.
Location - close to Chateau Lake Louise and the Lake itself. Good location for trips into Banff, the Ice Fields Road and Jasper.
Room did not have any coffee making amenities, lacked a hair dryer and had no TV either.
Corner room with good views of mountains.
Room to small for king size bed.
Not enough staff.Room was not ready on time.
5 minutes walk to the Chateau and the lake, where parking can be a chore. There is some charm in the dark log buildings bedecked with hunting trophies. Restaurant is quite pleasant.
No fridge or tea/coffee facilities. Mercifully no TV, because the ''charming" old walls are pretty thin. Place is showing it's age but if you look past that, and hopefully you don't have noisy neighbors, I guess the location justifies the price. No regrets on our decision to stay there.
The setting, lounge and sitting areas are beautiful and staff were friendly. The room was not bad.
The bed was uncomfortable and the walls are so thin that as soon as people on that floor are up, there is no more sleep. Take earplugs and you'll be fine.
Room at low rate was TINY, primitive, and inadequate
It is steps away from Lake Louise, making visiting the lake early in the morning and at dusk (when few people are around) possible. The restaurant is excellent--especially for dinner.
I didn't mind this, as I mainly chose Deer Lodge based on location, but the rooms are small and very basic. There is no elevator, which might make traveling with lots of luggage challenging.
Reception was efficient.
Run down hotel with worn carpets, decor and fittings. Indifferent housekeeping. No TV.Poor restaurant service.
Other part excluded the room
I loved the common areas ,but think there should have been some board games available.
Hot tub on roof. Location (leave car in hotel car park when hiking).
Hotel is a historic building and this does impose limitations. Restaurant unable to cope with a vegan (but Fairmont next door did excellent if pricey food).
Location. Historic place. Good restaurant.
Small room, inadequate facilities, dark and dinghy, not very clean, no drinks in room.
The ground floor level was excellent, lounge, bar, restaurant would not fault it.
The bedrooms very pokey, washroom tiny, heating far to close to the beds, windows rotten. They need re decorating & up dating sooner rather than later.
The restaurant was acceptable and the staff in there, pleasant.
The reception staff were unwelcoming and rude. The room was appalling. It was so small you could hardly move around, décor very shabby, no accessible power points in bedroom. Bottom of bath stained. Window would not close, frame rotten, so drafty at night.
Services were professional.
Every thing! But location is good!
Warmth of character to this place. Liked the quirky style and easy wander to Lake Louise shoreline. Hot tub has a great view.
Location excellent; staff very helpful
Rooms were very small and no hairdryers available in bathroom. Party of people started playing music at 2am - and very noisy not appreciated.
The location is very good for Lake Louise, only a few mins.walk.
The room we stayed in was a double room with two beds which were very small. The room itself was the smallest I have ever stayed in.Bathroom was dirty and basic. Everything was old and worn out.
Loved the location and open areas especially use of Lady Agnes room and fireside seating in lounge.
The fact that our bathroom sink was not cleaned daily.
The lounge with fire, food in restaurant, location, hot tub
No coffee/tea making facilities in some rooms
