The fact the aqua center didn't open until 4 pm
Location and view
Old facility, needs upgrading. Extremely overpriced, probably due to the restricted competition enforced by the National Park.
kitchen size of beds size of loft unlimited bus and bus stop location location view from balcony hot tubs
no dishwasher soap no toilet paper no "do not disturb" sign provided and housekeeping woke us up at 9AM
Premium location. Far enough and close enough from Downtown. Lots of space (at least for a couple), could accommodate 2 couples or a couple with children.
The construction is odd at least for the type of cottage we stayed in. There were 4 units per building and the downstairs unit is right under entry/bathroom of the upstairs unit. Our upstairs neighbors woke up at 5AM every morning and were disturbing us without being especially noisy. Quite annoying as you can't really complain especially if the resort is full as they won't be able to move you.
Enjoyed ourselves very much!!! Lovely location, courteous ,and helpful staff!!! Great attractions & services.
Pool facilities and indoor playground were great for the kids age 2 and 4.
Room was very dated, dishwasher did not work. Bed linens were clean but the rest of the condo was not great.
I was told there was a sofa bed in the living room, but there wasn't so I slept on the couch. In fact, there was a murphy bed but I wasn't told about it. I believe this resort is overpriced. But other than that it has all the basics.
fire place, balcony, kitchen
pillows were terrible
The room was very spacious and had everything that we could want in it. We had a nice patio with a spectacular view of the mountains. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would stay at the Douglas Fir again and would recommend it to friends.
We enjoyed everything about our stay and can't think of one thing we did not like.
The location is beautiful and we have been coming here for 25 years. It is time to update the furniture and bedding as it is very dated. Will stay here again but look forward to some updating when it does happen.
Pool hours are not great. Outdoor hottub is located in the waterslide area and is open only at 2:00. Should consider different hours during peak seasons. 9:00-9:30 everyday not just weekends.
Have stayed here before. Location is good as you are on Tunnel Mountain away from the crowds on Banff Avenue. Lodges are very comfortable and well-appointed. Everything you need really. Would highly recommend.
Other guests don't understand the parking instructions and park in the wrong spots!
I enjoyed the location and the amenities that come with the room
the one bedroom units have you facing the outdoors through a basement window atmosphere.
It was a fine room and a fine resort but it was a little pricey for what we needed.
Kept the outdoor facility/pool closed until 2pm in plus 25weather would have liked a sun deck
This was a memory trip for my daughter in law.
The interior needs to refreshed. Nothing has been replaced in all the years we have stayed there.
But there is a bus
The facilities offered were perfect for my young grandchildren. They loved it!
The parking stall assigned to my room was impossible to negotiate once the stall beside and behind me were occupied. I got stuck in there and could not get out for a long time.
the parking location with designated space, availability of shuttle bus right outside with a free hotel provided pass; large pool with late hours; kitchen facility; shower water pressure; air conditioning; connection to the main lodge
tight parking spaces with limited space between rows for angling car to get into space; expensive
Pool and waterslides were nice and kept my son entertained for hours. Nice wooded area.
Front desk staff were blatantly rude and unhelpful. Old decorating, furniture, utensils, etc. Room was musty and dusty. Nothing of the resort justified the excessively high cost. Do not waste your money.
Very poor wifi connection. Could not open a page.
Water slides Grocery/liquor store was onsite along with laundry services
Parking under ground poor height restrictions: too low Accommodations were low standards considering the price of the rooms Access to the waterslides were through the parkade, disappointing.
When I booked our room I had requested a location that would be quiet. They ensures this happened and also once we checked in they called to make sure we were satisfied. I was impressed. Also I was very impressed at how clean the rooms were. I've stayed at some very expensive hotels in the past that were not as clean.
The chalets are properly equipped for long stays. Heating system, kitchen, and a decent enough living area were nice. Outdoor wildlife was right out the balcony or the front door and it was cool. Heating system and bathrooms were nice features. Parking area was a good thing to have there and they were close enough to entrance. It is also close to a grocery store and others.
We decided to fire up the fireplace but an hour in to the experience the smoke detector went off and made us realize that it wasn't our tired eyes going dark but rather a lot of smoke in the room though the posted procedure was properly followed. It was a nice thing to have inside though. The location is a tiny bit far from the Main Street in Banff though a known fact when I was booking.
Couple of nice waterslides. Good location.
Staff showed no politeness or customer service. The rooms were costly for what you got. Kitchen was very small; carpet old; utensils old; extremely dusty including bedding; bed was ok but for the cost I expected something better.
The water slides and play gym were nice
The staff at the front desk was rude and tried to argue with me about a mistake they had made. I had booked through booking.com a 1 bedroom suite. I have 4 small children under the age of 8. When I had checked in the woman had upgraded us due to over booking. She then said that the room I had originally booked was not big enough for my family even though I called the HOTEL to double check that we could use that room. And she continued to argue with me that I hadnt and I know i did...and she basically said that If I hadn't been upgraded they wouldn allow us to stay there. Basically just rude and not accommodating to the situation. Overall the hotel was okay...but I found the staff quite rude!
