The Embassy Inn was cleaner than any of the other hotels I have stayed at in Victoria. My husband and I have stayed at approx. 12 diff. Hotels in the downtown area, and this was by far the cleanest, including the baseboards and heaters being dust/grime free. The front desk staff were always very friendly and helpful when I had questions. It is not a high end hotel, but is very comfortable and very conveniently located. A great little place to call home while in the city. Free parking was an added bonus as well as a room upgrade upon check-in.

Location (close to center of the city and the James Bay area). Staff (front desk, housekeeping, servers) were great. Breakfast was excellent. Virtually no sound-proofing between my room and the one next door - whether a cough or the television from next door room, it sounded like it was in my room. Also the restaurant is no longer open for dinner, though that meant I had to find alternatives, some of which turned out to be great. Had issues with the heating (had to be manually adjusted) and hot water (not consistently hot).

The hotel has a nice entrance with well kept grounds and landscaping. We parked easily in the car park fairly close to our room and were not charged extra for parking. The reception staff are very welcoming and were willing to research information regarding upcoming shows for us. We stayed in the Harbour wing of the hotel which had lovely views of the harbour and although this is obviously the older part of the hotel the room was clean and nicely furnished. The swimming pool was nice and warm and clean. I would stay at this hotel again. The downside to staying in the Harbour Wing of the hotel is that you can hear more traffic noise, this is a trade-off for the lovely views! These rooms also do not have individual balconies but one large communal one with lots of room to sit, but I have added it as something I didn't like because I could hear people walking about late at night (one with stiletto heals). We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant and the food was good, the service not so good. The server took a long time to bring some milk and seemed a bit indifferent as to whether we were satisfied or not. I would eat elsewhere if I stayed there again.

The location was the only thing that impressed me For the price, the room was not what I expected-it was "blah" -hospital beige and in need of a makeover. Old Sheets, older pillows, very old bathroom. I complained that the tub didn't drain when I showered and got ...nothing! It was gross. Also the walls are thin and you can hear everything!

The location of this hotel is excellent! If you want to stay around the inner harbour, this an excellent spot. The front desk person was very knowledgeable about the area and helped us get to where we wanted to go, using a map that they provided. Parking was free, and easy to use. The air conditioner was awesome. Fresh smelling room with no signs of age. We will stay here again! We did not use the restaurant or pool, so cannot comment on this part of the stay. The hotel is an older one, but still it has been well taken care of. The lobby, hallways, and our room was very clean. In fact our bathroom was spotless! The only complaints we had were a) our mattress was a king size, and I felt the springs poking through a bit on certain areas as I slept on my side b) my wife thought the pillows were too puffy, but I liked them. Perhaps a mixture is needed to suit the desires of different people. I'm sure if we had asked for a flatter pillow, we would have got it!

Guided tour of the Government House. Butchart Gardens. Waterfront and the many cafes and restaurants in the city. The ease of travel on the local buses and the very reasonable fares. The room was small, but otherwise okay.

Great location to the waterfront and within walking distance to downtown. But, I think this hotel is being overrated at 8.4 and 3 stars. Average rooms, didn't receive Harbour Wing as requested on check-in and interior of hotel and room starting to look dated. (When was the last time you saw a tube tv in a hotel room). Good value for room is all I can say on this one.

Location, value, friendly and helpful staff. I'm visiting from Kansas and came to the island to see Victoria and the Butchart Gardens. This is a perfect hotel to use as a "home base". Stayed in the old section of the building. Very clean but the mattresses need to be replaced. I stayed the end of April and did not need air conditioning but if you are staying in the summer, you will need the air conditioning. Maybe they could use a fan to help circulate stale air.

Our stay was a good experience. The bed was comfortable, the location is convenient and quiet. Perfect location to go for a nice walk around the harbour. Lots of shopping within walking distance. It was nice to stay at a hotel and not have to pay for parking. As far as I'm concerned parking should be a perk to staying at a hotel. Thank you and we will stay again.

My wife and I started staying at the Embassy about 10 years ago and have made it our stopping place in Victoria ever since. We enjoy it`s location near the harbor and other attractions. The cafeteria holds many special memories of meeting with family there who have come from other provinces. This was true again on my latest visit as 3 of my sisters and myself had lunch and breakfast together in the cafeteria. We reminisced about other meals we had shared in that cafeteria with family members no longer with us.We were in Victoria this trip to say goodbye to another sister who also knew the Embassy well.Staff are always neatly dressed and courteous.Rooms are spacious, comfortable and well equipped.
