This Calgary hotel is only 2 blocks from the C-train station for easy access to downtown. The hotel offers an indoor pool with a waterslide and a free daily breakfast.
Score from 125 reviews Good
The Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The greatest part about the hotel was the pool the location and the staff were good.
The breakfast was kinda cheap, but grateful we got one, the tub seemed to be caved in the middle so made it a tad uncomfortable to shower, you can tell there was previous damage to the moulding and they superglued it back together, they just may need some renovations to help spruce it up a bit.
The staff at the Econo Lodge South Calgary were awesome! They were so friendly and helpful and made our stay much more enjoyable.
Our stay wasn't long enough, I could have used a few more days to relax and enjoy the motel and Calgary.
Continental B,fast on site and Coffee/ Tea in Room. Ease of Parking Acess
Chlorine poo,Hot Tub not functional, No hot water available for tea in B'fast Area. Flimsy Shower Curtain did not prevent water from spilling outside Shower stall
Hot tub not functioning Breakfast very limited
The staff was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and the breakfast room was really nice. Our room was basic but clean and comfortable.
The sketchy people outside the building.... Made us feel unsafe with our small children
Location and cost
Parking a bit cramped
The bed was comfy.
This hotel is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for. While the rooms have been updated they are very well worn. There is black moms stains around the bathroom caulking, wellworn carpet, chips out if counter etc.
Location to mall excellent
Breakfast; washrooms available outside the rented room; staff smiled and were friendly.
parking was very very tight every night.
Friendly staff. Clean rooms.
Breakfast looks better in the pictures. Still, it wasn't bad.
Good size rooms and good facilities.
Breakfast options were limited. Yoghurt and healthier cereals would be good.
Comfortable beds Close to Restaurants and stores. Friendly staff
Didn't smell the greatest
Location was reasonable. Had room for two nights during the Calgary Stampede. Used the LRT to go downtown and the Stampede. Heritage Station was only a 13 minute walk away. Had a well furnished quiet room.
Breakfast options were unappetizing. Orange juice one morning tasted terrible - didn't finish it! Coffee was lousy. One waffle machine didn't work. For a motel this size, one expected a better breakfast offering. Chairs in breakfast eating area (looked like a conference room / meeting room) were flimsy. Several were stacked in a corner along with a few tables - not a very inviting space.
bed and room size
Exactly what you would expect from Econo Lodge. Fairly comfortable and had a good breakfast.
The pool room was very nice, comfy bed, good value during Stampede, TV was good, fast morning checkout, a nice stay overall
late checkin at 3pm but I guess that's standard
Pool and hot tub area was very nice. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast area nice and food choices were good. Location was great for us.
Some smoking smell in our room even though it was labelled non smoking. Not a major issue for us as no allergies.
I'm room smelt like weed and we had to move and stairwells were disgusting
Very good location, we had a nice , quiet room , which was very clean and comfortable . Breakfast was included in the price, so we didn't have to stop anywhere else. One of the mature malls is on the same street and easy to get to. We liked our stay, and would book with them again.
Renovated quite recently, our room was clean, comfortable, and mostly quiet. (Noise can be luck of the draw in hotels, depending on other guests). It's a great location, within walking distance of the Kingsland Farmer's market, Heritage LRT, many restaurants, and a great Russian deli. If you want to swim laps in a full-size (25m) pool, Acadia pool is a 10 minute drive away on Fairmont Drive. For the price, this was a good room and had all we needed for a 6-night stay.
- Although the mattress was comfortable, it was covered with a plastic-y covering that made it a bit hot and sweaty. - When they renovated the bathroom, it seemed they didn't replace the extraction fan - it was noisy and didn't remove any moisture at all. - The breakfast room chairs were a bit variable in quality; we had to keep searching for one that wasn't in broken-down condition.
I booked 2 rooms for my staff. They were to stay 10 nights. After 1 night both staff members checked out. One room had bugs in the bed, the other room had bloodied sheets on the bed. Walls were paper thin so sleep was impossible due to loudness of other guests. Will never book here again!
I liked that the rooms were a good size and
I didnt like that I booked 5 rooms- non-smoking - and when we got there I was told that they only had 4 non-smoking and 1 smoking. I was told that if we wanted to upgrade- for another $100, we could get the fifth room in non smoking. While I understand that the room being offered is normally sold at a higher rate, I am disapointed that I am trying to be upsold because of an error on the Hotel's part. And then they wouldnt budge and I was told I would have to have one of myself or my employees sleep in a smoking room. I can understand if this happens a week before I come, so I can plan and make other arrangments, but when 5 people are standing at the desk and waiting to get rooms that we have booked and secured with a credit card, I am not pleased with getting the hard sell. With everything that is computerized in today's world, I dont see why an email notification cant be sent if you are over booked, or why my reservation, held by a credit card, isnt good enough to get the rooms that I booked? It will seriously affect my considerations when booking future travel. While there are some great features and a generally good experience for our stay, this kind of sours it for me.
Roommy Rooms Get what you pay for I guess, not worth saving $40.00 Free Breakfast was typical and nicely done.
Uncomfortable lumpy beds Room smelt smokey Poor air from air conditioner not clean Shower heads are only 5 feet high Way to low.
