Eden Place Bed & Breakfast

The house itself was older and had some unique art decor; it was more of a cosy, homey atmosphere of sharing space in the old style B&B's. It is located at the end of town near the lake and there is a little trail that leads to Lake Muskoka between two cottages. The lady that runs it is very pleasant and informative and tries to accomodate the guests who can appreciate less luxury and more efficiency.

The walls between the rooms don't allow for sound privacy and when guests stay up late chatting it is more difficult to sleep so I would recommend a policy and sign stating "quiet hours" after 11:00 which would have to mean speaking in whispers. The only shower facility for all guests is in the one bathroom on the main floor.

Die Besitzerin ist eine engagierte unnd freundliche ältere Dame (80Jahre), die sich sehr gut um die Gäste kümmert. Um in das Zimmer zu gelangen wird man in durch das Wohnzimmer der älteren Dame geführt (was für uns kein Problem war).

Not what travelers expect at all - a sweet elderly woman is renting out rooms in her home - staying here is like staying with Grandma. My room was down narrow stairs and on a different floor than the shared bathroom which is in a very public place right by the front door and kitchen. Toilet and sink were in the bedroom closet (see photo). Bedroom door had slats, no lock from outside. No ac. Not the quality of b&b that travelers expect from an online booking. Little to no privacy.

It was a fantastic, warm and homely place. The owner was amazing, very helpful and welcoming. It is well located to walk to all the attractions in gravenherst and an easy drive around the lake. Will be staying there again.

The friendliness of the owner and the warm welcome and chats

Very cramped small ensuite shower,wc and wash hand basin with no ventilation and sliding door so not very sound proof. Small towels. No TV in room, telephone or tea/coffee making facility. Lots of narrow fairly steep stairs both up and then down another flight to get to the bedroom. Difficult to carry heavy cases. No choice of food at breakfast. Would prefer traditional bacon and egg etc rather than spicy beans and fried ? bread. No cereals. An extra admin fee was added to the price quoted on Booking.com. I was charged twice on my credit card but it was quickly put right by the owner when I quieried it, contacting Paypal direct to cancel the second transaction. Generally overpriced compared to other accommodation booked through Booking.com throughout our 3 week stay in Ontario.
