Embassy West Hotel  

Location

I found the hotel to be sparkling clean, and it had a very formal atmosphere. It was close by to the heart institute where I was visiting my husband. The price of the rooms were inexpensive. The room was quite large and very nice.

Parking

Room was not clean. Had a hole in the wall. Chair was so dirty you did not want to sit in it. Towels were thread bare. Box spring of bed was showing and was very dirty. Did not know it was a room in an old age home. Had booked two rooms 317 & 319 .,both were bad. Would not stay there again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Nothing, after having to change rooms 4 times because of poor cleanliness and broken fixtures etc. We had rooms that stunk of urine, bad diinfectants mold etc. It is the worst hotel I have stayed at Canada! It is poor seniors complex that is trying to survive by renting hotel rooms. Do not stay there you will be disappointed!!!

Very long list- not clean, facilities are bad, lights burt out, no maitenance, crappy bathrooms, I felt like we were staying in a third rate hospital.

I can honestly say this is one of the best facilities I have ever stayed at in Ottawa or elsewhere (and certainly for the price it was more than I had expected). The room was immaculate. The front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly yet unassuming. The room was bright, had cable and wi-fi, had a mini-fridge and microwave, and had wood/laminate flooring (which is a lot cleaner than carpet in general). The hotel is being converted (at 50% right now) into a retirement residence - so at first I thought I would feel like I was infringing in someone's home but the residents did not seem to mind the comings and goings of the hotel guests. The hotel is right off the highway and close enough to everything. I wish them well in completely converting this facility, but I do hope that I have the pleasure of staying there again next time I'm in Ottawa.

There was no mention on the website or during my booking that this was also a senior living residence. I felt like I had moved in to an old age home when there are emergency buttons next to my bed, and a chair in my shower! It made me very uncomfortable and it's definately something I would have like to have known about before I made a reservation! The staff was not helpful at all. The ONE person you had at the reception desk was not helpful and looked like he'd rather be somewhere else. An automated system would have been better than dealing with him.

Very quiet and comfortable. It is being changed over to a retirement facility so it is very quiet at night. Great for getting a good night sleep.

No restaurant for quests, the dinning room is for the retirement people only.

It is being converted to a seniors residence so there were few amenities.

I was a bit upset as I was never been informed it was converted to a senior living, and didn't response as an hotel for tourists or business people. Nevertheless, I appreciate help from Anuj, he was helpful. The renovations works on the roads too create disburbances. This also contributed to shorten my visit in Canada.

It was a clean hotel.

I loved that the floors were hard wood instead of carpet. It was also very nice to have a kitchenette in the room, along with a fridge and microwave. The flat screen TV and the room in general was very up to date and modern.

Some of the more cheaper and outdated hotels offer complimentary items, such as toothpaste and toothbrushes, if you forget to bring your own. Its too bad you do not offer that service.

Hello - our stay at the Embassy West Hotel in Ottawa was great. Staff we wish to say a big thank you are - Brenda at the Front Desk - she went out of her way to help us in every way we need. Intissar Ahmed kept our room #316 very clean and she was pleasant and looked after us very well.Thank you very much to those who we didn't learn their names. Anne and John Silins
