We paid double the price in booking.com. Our room doesn't have bathroom. We are very disappointed!
They charge 10% more (and then tax that too) if you use a credit card. A room with a private shower, means: no toilet and no towels! I'm sure I could have asked for a towel but after having been charged 10% for using a credit card without being told, I was afraid they would charge my credit card for the towel without telling me. It was extremely noisy outside and I had to choose between not sleeping because too hot (because need to close the windows for noise) or because too noisy (having to keep windows open for air. Worst ever place I stayed at, equal to a little room I stayed in when I went to a third world country but where I paid 6$ a night.
The rooms were nothing like the pictures on the web site, and the price went from 600$ to over 900$. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night
The location was not bad, about 1.5-2k walk to main night life area.
If the hotel had been really cheap, I would have been happy with what I got. But at well over $150 I expected a lot more. The place was not clean, and did not feel safe. The window was hanging open unsecured, with cables coming in through the window. The water was cold. The bed covers worn. Flooring in he building also very worn, and walls needing repair and decoration. I would not recommend unless the prices come down significantly.
The only good thing about this hotel is the location. It's next to a Metro station, several bars and a couple 24 hour gas stations. You can come and go as you please but you are being monitored very closely by the staff and they have to open the door for you when you leave and return.
1. The staff was very rude (the gentleman working late night was nice) 2. There was no toilet in the room 3. There was no A/C (left the light on over night to run the ceiling fan) 4. Overpriced - CAD$262 Cash / CAD$289 Credit/night 5. The room was very dirty Upon arrival, the clerk asked for our IDs and explained it would cost an additional $27 if we wanted to pay with a Credit Card. We decided to go to a nearby ATM to withdraw and pay with cash. We were told if we weren't back in 5 minutes, they would run the cost of the room on the card that we put into booking.com while making the reservation and it would be counted as a "no-show" - essentially saying they would charge the room and re-list it as available! He refused to return our IDs until he was paid. Unfortunately I couldn't cancel at this point as I don't know the laws and I assume that since he had my ID, he has a some right to charge the card already on-file as I did "show up" and willingly gave him my ID (that's part of the check-in process, right?). I went to take cash from the ATM and upon return, paid the CAD$262 charge along with a CAD$5 key deposit. Once we received the key, we went to the room and found that you can hardly enter because the bed and night stand are almost up against the door. A short while later, I walked downstairs to ask for soap, as there was none in the room - I found that another person came to check into the hotel after also reserving on booking.com. The clerk told him he needed an ID - The gentleman asked to see the room first and the clerk refused saying he needed the ID before he could allow him to see anything. It appears that this place takes your ID as soon as you walk through the door and uses it as a way to "strong-arm" you. Needless to say, this is one place I will never stay again!
Basically: - The price was excessive for the quality of the hotel. - No option to return the money. - Assured free Wifi in advertisement, but there was none. - No elevator, no porter for helping to carry your luggage upstairs. - Strong smell in the room (cleaning agent?), a brush forgotten on the bedside table.
The façade of the building
Total scam place is run like a miners bunking house
Neighborhood was very convenient. A minute walking to the berri uqam station. And it's a walkable distance from many interesting neighborhood. Convenience store open late. Didn't find the neighborhood dangerous at all. The hotel has a very unique French vibe to it. Not fancy but quite interesting. Floor bathrooms were clean. There wasn't a day that it was nasty. Overall, it's an ok place for who's staying most of the time out and about and pretty much going to the hotel to sleep.
The room I stayed at was very small, but as I was on my own, wasn't such a big deal. Bed sheets, towels were clean but floor was a bit dusty. There were no hangers to hang clothes in the closet. And on my very last night, one of the front door guy was very rude and disrespectful.
I saw the price on your site $229, but I was forced to pay $299 cash, because the room for $229 does not have private toilet and shower. It smells awfully inside. When I paid $299, I needed to walk to another place, where they probably rent rooms to prostitutes. So, every 2 hours in the night I was listening to show.
I like nothing at all. Rediculous . Bad customer service poor smelly room
*The manager & building were both slovenly and smelled terrible. *This is merely a hostel. *Very filthy and dank. *The manager was scary an just gross...
it was awful ! very dirty with insects shower is dirty rooms are veru noisy because of a bar under the hotel there is somme rooms for prostitution in this
Money means nothing to this hotel, we were charged $150 more than we were supposed to pay for a room with a rat trap under the bed. The doors didn't lock properly, and I would not leave anything in the rooms anyways. There was also no air conditioning or fans so sleeping did not happen. I don't recommend anyone stay here, it was the worst experience I've had with a hotel.
Proximity to Old Montreal
Made reservation for two nights - huge mistake. The night was pretty much sleepless, hot and stuffy room, noise from the road and the bar downstairs, at 3 AM someone was trying to open our room with a key, followed by the load drunken arguments in French with someone in the hall, maybe a fight. Overall was a pretty scary restless night. Decided to leave the hotel, obviously did not receive any refund for the second night and sleepless first night. Will never come back and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
very cramped, bad accommodation, the moment i walked in, met another group of people leaving telling us how bad their stay was. Only go if you like all of the above.
Room with private shower Cheap rooms The location is really good, specially if you're planning to go on La Ronde
Access: You have to buzzer the staff so they can open the door
Lack of or misleading advertising of facilities. Cleanliness. There was no parking except for public 3 blocks away. There was no phone except for public. There was no flat screen tv. (All of which were listed as in room)
No aircon and the fan was really noisy, cold water tap in our room didn't work, globe in bathroom broken and not fixed for two days
Location is great.
Staff was not nice at all. Air conditionning was broken and it was way too hot in the room. Smelly! Very smelly hotel. Bad smell.
Guys unless you have no money please avoid this hotel The owner calculate the TAX in a way that he gets 2-3$ extra from every client! If you pay in US $ then he will consider it as Canadian dollars exchange rate... He ask me 10 extra $ for toilet in the room No lift, mean good luck with lugages.. Room door can be opened by anyone Fan was mostly falling from the roof Not clean at all For sure i'll complain to the Quebec tourism body
Location (near Berri UQAM metro station, St Catherine St, etc). Wireless was good once I asked about it. Cute girls running from the showers in a towel was a plus. Some of the staff were nice enough. Normal price is good but they jacked it up a lot for the Grand Prix w/e.
booking: they cancelled my reservation thru another site for a much better price. There was a 10+% charge for paying by credit card (who pays for a $300+ bill with cash?!). If you're traveling with a bunch of mates and can get a dorm it would be OK but there are a ton of other nicer places nearby that are better values for money. Just try to book early if you traveling at a prime time
It s a dump!! don t waste your money, time and health!! this thing it should be close right away. The rooms are smelling like vomit!!
Property needs preparation. Poor staff (you need to ask for towels). There was somebody smoking during my stay even if there is a non smoking sign in the first level...
