After our rental car reservation disappeared into thin air (and
couldn't be retrieved), we took the Intercar bus service from Quebec
City to La Malbaie and a taxi to the hotel. I had arranged for a late
arrival to be sure the staff knew we were coming. Upon arrival after four-
plus hours of travel, the woman at the reception desk -- Marissa --
treated us as though we were a nuisance. We were staying for 6 nights,
and politely requested an upgrade, if available. She was dismissive and
very unfriendly. Moreover, we were overcharged slightly for a stay we
had booked on booking.com, with a very specific price. I pointed it out
to the front desk staff and their response was "well, our
computerized system never makes an error." I did the computation
and showed them the error...and they finally refunded the difference to
my credit card. I left wondering if they would have treated me
differently if I were Canadian!
