Always reliable clean rooms - old - but well kept

The room cost was $162 - and that was prepaid but on arrival they also charged me anoth $262 - for what I do not know - and I had to call them to have it removed - not the way to keep my business

Even though the room rate was at the top of my budget, I dearly wanted to stay in this beautiful hotel so full of historyand great memories.As a student at oca and the Uof t, I used to love to sit in the lobby and watch people of all walks of life make their way through the hotel. I worked at Chateau Lake Louise for two summers and there is something special about these old railway hotels that can never be duplicated by the beautiful but cold glass towers which have replaced them. I also find the location perfect in that I flew Porter and nothing could be more convenient. From Thunder Bay to the door step of the Royal York.This is the closest I can get to actually being transported a la Star trek. My room was wonderful. Clean, crisp and with a view of the cn Tower.The chambermaids and all the hotel personnel including the wait staff in Epic were fantastic, friendly and helpful. I joined the President's Club and was pleased to see that local calls were free. I came to visit friends and to see Warhorse. I had a wonderful time and wish that I could have stayed longer but the reality of life eventually catches up to you and my fantasy of being coddled in the lap of luxury had to come to an end. Hope to return soon, I loved my stay at your beautiful hotel.P.S. The real flowers all over the lobby was especially touching. I worked with David Tarrant when I worked at the Chateau and we always did fresh flowers.A Special treat!

Elegant & grand property. Library bar & restaurants good, rooms a little tired. Perfect location for a quick trip to Toronto.

Fairmont Royal York Hotel was located were transportation and convenience were both of prime importance. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Love the "old style" look to it, pool and hot tub awesome, staff very friendly, lots of shops below, very convenient location.

Relaxed atmosphere. Heart of the city. Beautifully appointed. Lots of history in the city.

Check in process was slow. I left without checking out. Line up was too long.

Lobby and common areas were very grand. Staff at reception helpful with info about area. Bell boy helped us with luggage across the street to union station to go to our train. Very helpful as person I was travelling with was using a cane.

Not all pool facilities available (no whirlpool during stay) and this was not indicated on their website. Main areas of hotel were grand but rooms were more worn and old carpet/bed skirts etc.
