The beautiful home and atmosphere. The great massage. The friendly people. The food was delicious. The wood surroundings, had to be quiet as the floors creeked. So old and rustic.
The mix up of my saturday breakfast. There was no directions given to properly operate the whirl pool soaker tub.
Wonderful, friendly hosts in a warm environment. Great breakfasts
Amanda and Harold were friendly and helpful. Amanda's breakfast was delightful each morning...a gourmet feast! Loved the accommodations and character of this historic bed and breakfast!
Historical and comfortable a unique opportunity to experience Kitchener with all the comforts of home. The breakfast was amazing and the service beyond compare. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
As a first-time B&Ber (long time traveler), the Frederick Street Inn covers all the bases with home-runs by the professional owner/partnership of Amanda and Harald. This 140 yr. old vintage home in Kitchener was meticulously renovated in the 2006-8 timeframe and converted to a first rate B&B for any type of traveler. Regardless of whether you are an international business/tourist traveler, a local Ontario site-seer, student or parent visiting their children while they are attending local colleges (U of Waterloo, Wilfred Laurier, Conestoga or Guelph University to name a few). All the rooms are completely secure with their separate, dependable locking/key arrangements, as is the front door with its own digital locking mechanism. As a local solo traveler, I stayed in The Bricker Room at the top of the second floor. A luxurious bed (Queen/King?) that rivals my own at home welcomed me at day’s end. The room itself was large for a single, decorated in vintage appropriate style. The room was completely quiet despite the street traffic outside due to the modern insulation detail from the renovation that completely deadens the street outside (a bus route) plus the adjacent rooms. The shared bathroom on the second floor is very large with a full glassed-in, walk-in shower plus dual, freestanding, period appropriate vanities that I would love to have in my personal condo/home. Sharing this room at the Frederick is not a problem! At breakfast I realized the Frederick Inn had accommodated a diverse set of people the night before, all of us there for different reasons. Until then, I thought I was almost alone through the night. I was the local Ontario site-seer. A business traveler from India; a German couple completing a Canadian tour of the east coast and a post graduate university student completing a Masters degree completed the register. There are many local dinner dining options off-site that Amanda can assist in choosing.
The tastefully appointed room...the pleasant and attentive staff...the full breakfast...the warm and inviting atmosphere of the Inn.
Everything, wonderful and professional!!!
It isn't that I didn't like this, but I thought maybe they could have some suttle back ground music during breakfast. Maybe just instrumental music
Frederick Street Inn was a wonderful place to stay - just wish I could have stayed longer than one night. The couple who run it are very friendly and have plenty of great local information to share, the location and comfort were super as was the breakfast. I would recommend it and stay there again.
The ambience, the character, the cleanliness, the folks
The air conditioner.
I'm thinking of going back for Octoberfest and I would definitely stay here again. It's a beautiful house, tastefully decorated and very clean. I was offered a pick up at the station and driven back to catch my train. Thank you so much, Kathleen!
Clean close to the Music Festival and a very friendly and helpful staff. 5 stars.
Location, friendliness, lovely heritage house. Culturally interesting. Pleasant people.
Reading lamps on one side of the bed only. (I've encountered this in the finest hotels. Sigh.) And my husband, an active man and a heavy eater, would have appreciated some cereal at the start of breakfast before going on to his eggs. A very elegant ensuite bath, but no where to set down one's toiletries. And no way to enjoy the fresh evening's fresh air--had to use the A/C even though it shouldn't have been necessary.
Amanda and Harold have thought of everything to make one's stay comfortable. The home and rooms are beautifully furnished! There are even whirlpool baths in the spa like bathroom! I love the 1890's antique furnished home. The beds were extremely comfortable with lovely linens. I cannot say enough good things about the Frederick Street Inn!!!!! Only 40 minutes from Stratford, do not hesitate to book this gem.
I liked everything..........
Lovely hostess and super breakfast
TV remote broken with no explanation til I called, no AC, while the tub is nice, I broke my leg last year and would have liked better handholds, hard to climb out with moderate mobility. Loud conversation down the hall at 11pm.
The owners and staff were very courteous and breakfast was absolutely wonderful. The place was always kept clean
Amanda & Harold are excellent hosts. The front porch, living room, dining room are all available for our use, and the room itself was large and comfortable.
Not a thing.
The staff was extremely personable. The whole atmosphere of the inn was very cozy and welcoming. The room itself was lovely and the heated floor in the bathroom was a great touch. Breakfast was tasty and fresh made, coffee and tea are available any time which is great. Pretty much everything comes at no extra cost.
This isn't a con per se, but the price wouldn't be practical for younger people (students) for more than one night. For one night though, it's so worth it.
Every detail was covered and the hot fresh-cooked breakfasts were healthy and delicious - best B&B we've ever stayed at in the world
The comfortable bed. The wholesome food & the helpful staff. Cleanliness
Everything was awesome as always, wouldnt stay anywhere else when in the area.
Access to tea kettle and freezer
Felt like an intruder at breakfast Sunday morning
I loved the old world charm of the house but also the updated ambience of the room with a heated bathroom floor and a lovely tub. Convenient, warm & cozy!
Delighted to experience this old, beautifully restored house, with all mod cons. Owners very attentive. A warm bed came as a lovely surprise on such a frigid February night. (Electric blanket turned on, both sides!) Breakfast was delicious.
