Clean, roomy, simple check in procedures
Lack of Wifi
Cleanliness of the room Easy to get to quiet and comforable
There was no internet access in the rooms apart from the lobby which was really annoying
Comfy bed; with a/c would have been perfect!
No a/c and hot!
no wifi in room
feeling like a student once more :-)
lack of WIFI hard to justify, tiny windows had problems to cool the rooms in the night, however the small fans helped
Hotel was good quality. The room was nice, had a very nice kitchen and bathroom. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the room for the price I paid.
Our only complaints is that there wasn't wifi in the rooms (only in the lobby), and that there wasn't air conditioning. We'd stayed in the middle of summer, so it was very hot inside our room. There was a ceiling fan and window fan, but it was still much hotter in our room than what's comfortable.
Location, kitchen, main bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice and big.
AC did not work at all and the fans were totally insufficient for the heat (this would not be an issue if it wasn't so hot during our stay). The pull out bed was also super uncomfortable. No towel racks in the bathroom, had to hang towels on hangers.
I love staying at UBC because the location is excellent. Good walking trails and close to beach. We stayed in the West Coast Suites last time which I think I preferred over Gage Towers.
It was 28 degrees Celsius and there was no air conditioning. It was very hard to get air circulating in the apartment. The elevator was very slow so preferred to take stairs to third floor.
We needed a room with double or queen size bed and a hide a bed for our daughter and her friend. The hide a bed was so used up I needed to drag the mattress off the bed to enable any sleep at all. The springs had collapsed and when on the hide a bed the bar was digging across ones back without any padding at all. My wife and I spend the evening without sleep.
Not having gone to university I could feel a 'good atmosphere - accommodation would make a year as a student very satisfactory.
Little to far out to enjoy Vancouver city although we did have someone to take us around .
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The rooms are basic with no artwork on the walls. This is a dorm style accomodation so that was understandable. The location at UBC worked well for us and wandering in and around UBC was enjoyable. I would stay there again.
We were on the basement floor and the room was a bit muggy. Next time I would request a higher floor so we could leave the windows open.
Bed was very comfortable, close to venue. Initally staff was helpful in finding somewhere to eat and quick service.
Very noisy facility, loud doors in hallway exits...noisy cleaning staff early in the morning. Cleaning staff knocking on door to check if we would be out by 11...it was between 9 and 9:30am , then finding a dried wolf spider in cupboard leading us to believe that cleanliness is not top of list. When checking out no enquirery into how our stay was, when I told of our mishaps he said sorry and gave me a complaint card, this is not good customer service and my feelings are they don't care if you come back. Not even the charge for parking was taken off our bill. My sister stayed there too and she had similar service, Loud noisy disturbed sleep and maid enquiring in the morning if she would be gone by 11...you can bet that neither one of us will recommend Gage apts.
Location on UBC campus for trip to UBC for potential undergraduate student. Close to bus system, easy drive to downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park, airport.
No air conditioning, room had a ceiling fan & a fan in the window. Fan in the window was useless. Ceiling fan marginal- only one speed. Sun filtering shade helpful. Recommend facility purchase better quality fan for the window.
Great location for parent orientation
WiFi only accessible in the Lobby
No proper air ventilation
brand new furniture the kitchenette well equip with all the basic. The cleanliness of the room and room space. Big shower, comfy bed.
the location, a bit far from main Vancouver attraction compare to down town. No balcony and window do not open that much lack of couch no wifi in the room
Clean, close to where we were going
Tiny bed, hot room, being woken up at 9:20 and asked if we were leaving, we had a very long day the day before had been up almost 24 hours and then to be woken up when check out isnt until 11 absolutely wrong!!
Nice place to stay. Not in the middle of everything but close enough to go by car.
No AC in the rooms, had 3 ventilators but the room was still very hot!!
The staff was very helpful
It was a little warm and the oscillating fan in the room was broken, and they had a wait list for another.
Location is great for us since we were there to install child as a freshman in UBC. Rooms were as advertised, well equipped, very comfortable, didn't smell. Parking was available and reasonable ($10 for a day if you are a guest) which could be a challenge in UBC. Better if free for guests though. Across Student Union building where the vendo machines are useful for water and drinks. There is a ceiling fan, very useful during the summer. Near the airport and accessible to downtown.
The queen sized bed at the double room was way too small for 2 people (as opposed to the queen sized bed in the suite for 4 people with a sofa bed). Vendo machines were not stocked and was empty all the time. Check in time is too late - 3 pm! Could be more affordable if booked on a weekly basis. No wifi in room, only a cable. So if you don't have a laptop with an internet port (like most thin laptops do or tablets), you cannot have access in the room and will have to sit in the lobby (or buy your own router!).
It was out of the way from downtown Vancouver, but still close to the action
Taxes, parking fee
Close to UBC where my daughter is going to school.
The bed was awful, it was very hard and very uncomfortable. Woke up in pain and couldn't go back to sleep. Sleeper sofa also very uncomfortable, can feel the springs and lumpy.
The bed was comfy and it was quite quiet.
Instructions to work the oven and coffee machine would have really helped as well as a kettle and the little pots of milk for drinks. Wifi would be great or a ethernet cable provided so internet use was available
Proximity to Wreak Beach, Museum of Civilization, Botanical Gardens within walking distance and a short drive to downtown Vancouver.
Very clean. Good layout. Great location.
Bed too small for two adults. Poor ventilation/air conditioning. Bathroom shower curtain is going to cost them in the near future as water runs all over the laminate floor.
